Overall decent. I have a Nanoleaf bulb in one of my lamps and that hasn’t had any major issues but these new bulbs have needed to be reset and unpaired 4-5 times. Once they are working it’s fine but it’s super annoying to spend an hour plus resetting everything every time I want to change a setting. I’m sure not everyone will have this problem. It seems like everytime they are turned off (with a light switch, etc.) they take an abnormally long time to reconnect (if at all) which many other brands don’t have an issue with. Expected more for such an expensive product.

Hello and sorry to hear about connectivity issues with our Essentials Matter A19 Smart Bulb. There could be several reasons you are having trouble with connectivity since most routers and internet service providers and switching to default on 5g, when Nanoleaf works on 2.4g. If you also have an iOS device, they also just released their update which should also make things better. We can go through some troubleshooting steps with you through our support team but if it's faulty we can quickly send you a new one. You can contact them at [email protected] and they can help you from there!

Awesome HomeKit Lights with No HUB required

They do what I want them to do, most of the time.. They do seem to get better with every update. The main reason I love them is because we have everything in our smart home integrated in Apple HomeKit. Unlike another brand you may have heard of, these do not require any hub to control them, so remember that if tempted to get another brand over these. Here's the honest part, but like I said, they do this less and less the more they update firmware, and the more Apple fixes HomeKit: Sometimes, very rarely, they will either not turn on to the proper color or brightness, or one might not turn all the way off, but just go mostly dim instead. Not a major issue, and my patience with them so far has been paying off because they're almost perfect at this point. I'm happy enough with them that I've ordered another 3 pack, so I now own 6 total lol

Similar to older Nanoleafs, but with Matter.

These newer Matter Nanoleafs are pretty much the same as the prior Thread only. The color options are pretty typical for a bulb like this. The Nanoleaf app is relatively easy to use. However, we have had some issues getting these added and staying connected to our existing setup that has the older bulbs.

These bulbs work well, but are not all that fun to setup. Once setup they are reliable and also work in all the major home ecosystems. You will need a hub to work with the matter protocol.

I had the previous nanoleaf but not it seems like they only have the thread ones which require an entirely new system which was very disaapointing

We hear you, and we’re sorry for the disappointment. The new A19 bulbs now use Thread for improved performance and reliability, but we understand it can feel like a big change if you were used to the older version. If you’d like, we can help go over your current setup and see what options you have without needing to completely replace your system.

Does the job intended for use and set up fairly fast with HomeKit. Doesn’t seem as bright compared to the ones prior and the coloring does seem off (bright white isn’t really white now?) but that could be a user issue or perhaps fixed within the app. Otherwise, a typical light bulb that happens to be some of the few that work with Apple HomeKit - the primary reason for buying

Thank you for your feedback! We're always working to improve everything from the technical and the user experience perspective, including things like the app, so those things are only going to get better over time. As for Matter, that's partially still a mystery in the hands of the big players, but for our part we're going to make sure again that everyone has the best experience possible. As Matter and Thread continue to grow though that experience too is going to get better and better. Being early adopters of new technology is always tricky at first, but the only way to go is up and we're going to make sure we try our best to get things working better.

These bulbs are incredibly unreliable. They used to be great but now have issues with connecting to the Apple HomeKit and are full of bugs. The bulbs themselves function within the Nanoleaf app but that app also doesn’t run very well with multiple lights in multiple rooms.

Sorry for this trouble😓 We will make sure we help you with this! We might have to ask you some questions to troubleshoot. The New Matter enabled lights work over Thread. So they require a Matter-compatible smart home hub and a Thread border router. There were also firmware updates recently that should help with making sure they work better. iOS, iPadOS, and tvOS 16.5 were released to production. So please Update ALL Apple devices to the latest version, reset your Nanoleaf device (if it wasn't paired successfully previously), and try pairing again. That should make things better. Let us know if it worked out for you or not.

    Unreliable Smart Bulbs

These Nanoleaf Matter & Thread enabled smart bulbs were extremely unreliable for me. They constantly disconnected from the Thread network with my HomePod mini and switched to Bluetooth, which rendered them near useless. One bulb in my kit didn’t even connect to Thread at all. I returned these and purchased Philips Hue. The Hue system has none of these problems due to the different way Hue bulbs operate (ZigBee rather than Thread).

This is a good deal as far as smart lights go, but these are not very reliable. They frequently lose connection. Hopefully they release a firmware update soon to address This problem.
