Super bright, lots of cool configurations. Only thing is I wouldn’t recommend using the sticky pads they have, it kinda destroyed my wall.

Love my Nanoleaf Shapes, let me start off by saying the obvious, Yes they are pricey. Now that that is out of the way lets start off by saying how easy these are to use and setup. I was intimated by placing them on the wall thinking they would look crooked or lopped sided, however when they are on the wall you can adjust them in anyway you like with the attached backplate. Also the amount of customization is endless, Would I buy again, yes I would and I most def will. I was fortunate enough to find them in stock at my local BB. I also picked up the minis which expands the amount of customization even more. All I can say is I want more of the Nanoleaf Shapes. One major thing to note. If you place these on the wall, and are not extremely careful when removing the double sided sticky tape when you decided to relocate them like I did, there is a chance you will rip off the paint from the drywall. Have some dap/drywall filler ready and paint just in case you spoof the wall up.

They have a great effect, but are not the easiest to install. The adhesive it comes with damaged the walls i removed it from. The app is also not the most user friendly in terms of set up. The control panel was also subject to a recall. I like them now but if they come down again they probably wont go back up.

This was my first purchase in the "shapes" range of nanoleaf. I like the updated design compared to the rhythm edition. The mounting (and dismounting) is much easier and practical. The colors are vivid and beautiful. I also bought the hexagon and small triangles expansion packs to make a nice abstract design. I like the modularity that I'd be able to change it in the future. The only complaint I have is the non-availability of the flex connectors that could be used to go around corners -- these are hard to find and expensive.

Solid product, just wish the adhesive was a little better as the first time sticking it on the wall, it came loose and all fell after about 3 days.

Had to get these lights as an alternative since they stopped selling the original ones . I think they still work just as great but they are smaller than the originals. The install was much simpler , but the adhesive is a bit stronger so I recommend picking a dedicated spot so that you don’t have potentially rip up any drywall. All in all good product .

Ok, but overpriced for what they are

They're ok. They look good and are mostly evenly lit...not perfect but acceptable. The price is incredibly high but I realize all lighting products are what I consider overpriced, even simple lighting fixtures with incandescent bulbs. So it's one of those things you have to accept I guess. At least bulbs are replaceable - these LEDs better last for years.
Ok, sticker shock aside. What does a starter pack get you? Unfortunately not a lot. The more interesting designs require 9+ panels. Having 7 is just a little bit too limiting. Go look on nanoleaf's website for inspiration and filter by 7 max. You won't end up with a lot. So practically speaking you need an extension pack right away. This makes it harder to say, "I'll try it and see if I like it before getting more." So while cost is high, value in the starter pack is low because you can't reach it's potential. Their goal should be to sell the product, not play carrot/stick games. Expansion packs have more tiles, but the starter pack needs probably just two more to be a good value. So not even as much as an expansion pack.
Build quality? They're pretty solid. However the connectors are flimsy. Each side has two spots to connect which let's you place tiles off center and provides a decent amount of modular options. However, one connector on a large shape makes for a flimsy light. They should have blank connectors that don't have metal inside, just plastic. This will let you use the unused connections as braces for additional support. Yes, you mount them to the wall - but positioning and moving them around just to get them to mount is tricky. Having it be a little more secure would help a lot. It still wouldn't be super secure or anything, it would just give you a minimum amount of support to position them more easily. Possible even let you hang them.
Software? Eh, it's garbage sorry. If you've used LIFX or Philips Hue, get ready for a disappointment. You have to first create a scene just to get a solid color! You can't even just go in and set a color. So you end up with a ton of "scenes" you don't want and have to scroll through. I suspect, since they do expose an API for things, other apps or voice control might help here...but why do we need a 3rd party to solve a UX issue that nanoleaf should have solved?
The gestures are cool, but you have to tell it which direction the panel is facing so you get the swipe gestures. This makes sense, but I wish there just a single AND double tap. There's not. There's just a double tap. Personally, I'd find the swipe directions be too many to memorize. I can only ever see myself needing two. To cycle next/previous...but here again is a problem. You are cycling between scenes. So you have to set it all up ahead of time in the app. You might as well use your smartphone to change the lights. This makes touch control almost useless.
Given they do have swipe gestures, how about putting the RGB controls directly on that???? What an amazing missed opportunity. You literally could be swiping around to change the amount of red, green, blue in there. Tapping to darken/lighten. Double tap to turn off. How did they miss this??? How???? It's like they put no thought into it. But it's right there, the idea...it's literally what you do on your phone to choose color (almost).
Anyway, their app also has other issues. For example if you mistype your network password during set up, you have to start pairing all over again. You can't go back and update/fix the password. Seriously? Again this just suggests they haven't put a lot of time into their software and UX. They better hire a product manager QUICK.
This is not their first generation product. I'm a bit surprised that they aren't improving here.
If they fixed some of the usability issues and stuck another two tiles in their starter pack I'd say, ok it's pricey but worth it. As is? You are absolutely ok to pass on this product. Don't feel bad or get FOMO. You really aren't missing much.
Between restocking fees and the fact my kids like them, I'll probably keep them. I will eventually probably get a few more tiles because in for a penny in for a pound... but I do think these are very much overpriced.
If you don't need the shapes and just want the light - go for Hue or LIFX strips. 100% better value and those brands will last. I actually wouldn't be surprised if nanoleaf went out of business because they priced themselves right out the door.
Honestly, if ditching the gestures lowered production cost - they should do it.

We were making over our house and just wanted something to pop on our walls and this did more then just that! These are beautiful and are great for lighting up a room or just having around for a nice talking piece in your home if you don’t have every text savvy friends/family. You’re really getting a lot out of them especially if you take full advantage of the customization that the app offers.

Nano leaf is awesome. Very clear and easy instructions to install. The sticky pads are very good. The lights themselves fub. We love having them dance to music. Connecting them alexa and google is a bit cumbersome but thats my only complaint.

These are an awesome starter pack for the Nanoleaf. Some things I like about it:
1. The app is pretty easy to use and it is easy to customize the lights and functions.
2. Thread/Matter compatibility (I'm holding out..I think eventually Matter/Thread will be great if the major tech companies can get there stuff together)
3. Connectivity to Apple HomeKit
4. Integration with other Nanoleaf and ability to design your shapes.
These shapes (Along with the mini triangles) give us a bit more light in our larger living room and the kids like to adjust/play with the functions on the light.

These are definitely a neat novelty for any game room. They have a ton of options for light patterns, and are super easy to install. They provide a nice ambient light as well! The app is very easy to use but is not very robust for a product that has a lot of potential, sadly the lack of features in the app leaves that potential untapped which is my only complaint. Outside of the lackluster app these are great!

It's an excellent product. The lights are gorgeous. However, I give this product 4 stars rather than 5 for two reasons: it's quite expensive, and also the Nanoleaf App isn't as intuitive as it could be.

Setring up these lights added more lifecto my office space. The set up was incredible easy and provides a tool to create a template so you are not flying blind when you are placing them on your wall. Its important to mention the adhessive is incredibley strong, so when you are placing it down ensure it is in the right spot because pullling it uo may take paint with it. If you happen to make a mistake you can find adhessive at any local hardware or super store!
