Customers are pleased with the Botvac D6's cleaning performance and navigation capabilities, frequently praising its ability to thoroughly clean floors and effectively maneuver around obstacles. Many appreciate the mapping feature and long battery life, allowing for efficient cleaning of larger areas. However, some users noted that the robot can be noisy and the dustbin requires frequent emptying. The app is generally well-received, but some experienced issues with docking.

This is my second robotic vacuum and find the neato cleans extremely well on hardwood, tile and low pile area rugs. Also love the multiple floor plans. The only reason why I do not give it 5 stars is that it is LOUD:

This is the best purchase for my home I’ve made. It’s amazing how much this tiny vacuum can do. From linoleum to carpet. It gets the entire room. It’s not super quiet but not super loud either. I always start it and leave or clean house while it vacuums. I’m very happy with my purchase.

Humans Not Needed

Vacuum cleaning a house is a task that no human being should have to do. The Neato D6 understands that and although it does not clean my couch and stairs, it does a good job in other areas with few exceptions.
Setting it up after downloading the app was surprisingly easy. It even works with 5 Ghz Wi-Fi which was a nice surprise. A model from another brand I recently tried only supported 2.4 Ghz which I try not to use at my house due to interference from microwave ovens and Wi-Fi from neighbors. Once connected it was very easy to configure.
It did a good job vacuuming my house. There were only a few issues as explained below:
First, It was stuck many times trying to go underneath a shelf. It would mostly fit except for the logo hump on top. I would get it unstuck but it would go back to the same spot. The same thing happened under one of the doors of the kitchen cabinets. It does not seem to measure the height and it does not learn that it can’t go underneath some objects. I did not find a way of preventing it from going back but I was able to block them so the D6 could not even try. In that sense, you can’t really call it a “smart” robot. I was a bit disappointed with that but I like the fact that you can draw areas for the D6 to avoid. That was handy because I wanted to make sure it would not go into my office unless I was around.
Second, other similar robots were able to clean underneath one of the couches that I have. This Botvac D6 avoids it every single time. I am not sure I can make it go there but maybe it is a good thing. Better avoiding it than being stuck.
Speaking of smart, I was very glad to use Alexa to control it. You say “Alexa, start cleaning” and she responds with “OK, starting Neato D6” and there it goes. All you need to do is search for Neato on the Alexa app and enable the skill. After that, all Alexa devices you have will be able to control it.
The map it created was very accurate. It does not show differences in floor types. I have a range of wood, tile and carpet rooms but the map doesn’t seem to distinguish them like I have seen in another brand. It is not a deal breaker since it does not affect its operation in any way.
While occasionally, you will still need to use a traditional vacuum cleaner, you will be mostly satisfied with its performance. If you schedule it to do the cleaning more than once a week, – mine is scheduled to do it every other day – you will rarely need to use anything else except for those areas the D6 can’t reach such as stairs, couches, counters and some shelves. Otherwise, it has a strong suction power and battery lasted way beyond my expectation as it did not have to recharge although my house is considerably bigger than average.
Until they can come up with a robot that does the areas I mentioned above as well, you will not be disappointed with the Neato D6. Here’s waiting for a robot that picks up things my children leave on the floor. Yes, you need to pick up socks, cords and other small things that could choke it. This actually happened while I was writing this review but I highly recommend it

The Neato D6 robotic vac works great on the floors in my house. The floors are rugs, laminate and tile. It picks up lots of dog hair and tracked in dirt. It manages to get into places that I didn't expect it could. I love that it can get under the beds and several chairs. I have only done 3 whole house cleanings with it. After the 3rd one I easily removed the roller and used the provided tool to clean the brushes. I have to dump the dust bin twice during a cleaning and it has to recharge before finishing. It cleans 1850 square feet. I had no trouble connecting it to my WIFI and the App on my Samsung phone.

I have owned three robot vacuums and this model is by far my favorite.
1) I feel the app is very user friendly and keeps you up to date where the vacuum has been and when it needs help.
2) The vacuum picks up way more dog hair and other smaller pieces of dirt versus other brands I have owned. The brush does a good job staying tangle free. It also cleans VERY easy.
3) The overall shape of the vacuum means it can get into a lot more places that other brands I have owned cannot. It has more than enough power to get in and out of problem spots.
I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a premium robot vacuum.

I have a golden retriever that sheds everywhere, so this has been a godsend. We usually pick up the downstairs so there is nothing that will get caught in the vacuum cleaner and let it do its thing.
You will need to make sure to empty that container almost every day, check the brush for anything wrapped up, and then I usually hit the dust out of the filter in the garbage can.
I got a reboot error about 1 1/2 years of every day use, but was suprised when I called support and got help after only a minute or two of waiting. I was very impressed with their support, and the honored the warranty

This thing is the smartest robot vacuum I've ever seen. I've previously had a Roomba, and a BobSweep. The Roomba worked well but had terrible navigation. The BobSweep was terrible all around. PRO's: This vacuum navigates so intelligently and goes in a perfect back and forth pattern to make sure it vacuums every square foot. It has great suction power and sounds like a real vacuum with a strong flow of air coming out the back. The dirt bin is huge and easy to take out and washable. The app works great and the no-go lines are nice. Using the 'Gentle Care' mode it slows down and makes sure to touch as few things as possible while still getting close enough to be thorough which is nice for furniture legs etc.(I prefer to use this mode the most). Its battery life is good and does run for a full 120 minutes. CON's: Out of the box It took over an hour of charging for it to even indicate it was charging, I thought something was wrong so I called Neato and they had me do some things and said it would need to be replaced. After a while it turned on so I just went with it. Then after I got it set up and going it started making a helicopter noise intermittently. Neato told me to take the brush out and run it to see if it was still making the noise, and it did not so they are sending me a new brush. While I greatly appreciate not having to take it in or send it away for diagnosis for them to give me a new brush it seems like there are some quality control issues during manufacturing. My mom bought a D4 recently and had to get a replacement for the WiFi going out. So it seems that once you get one that doesn't have issues its amazing but our luck hasn't been great.

I had my doubts about buying another robot vacuum after an older Roomba I had years ago. But I was pleasantly surprised with the D6.
It’s much more efficient than other robots that bounce around. Great suction also. I’ve had a few problems with it navigating around my house. After I did a special clean for the floor plan it went much smoother.
My only con would be that it get scratched up easy. I mean real easy. First run I had 3-4 scratches on the top of the robot. Still a great product.

Unfulfilled promises

Unfulfilled promises
This could be a great unit but needs more refinement so it will do what it states it can do. I do recommend this but only as I feel confident the issues will be corrected by Neato with software/firmware updates.
What it does well;
Easily unpacked.
Is nicely designed with sturdy components
When cleaning only 1 room at a time it works well;
Maps well with details and sq. ft. indicated after run
It cleans very thoroughly due to its “structured” and not random vacuuming pattern. If you are cleaning a carpeted area you will see the pattern and its misses nothing.
Very Fast as it normally doesn’t waste time going over the same area
Stops itself when it has completely cleaned the room.
Easy to setup app/account. Liked its security - Neato sends you a verification code to finish setup.
Pretty quiet in “eco” mode and ran 99 minutes with very good suction/cleaning.
Did not get “stuck” on several throw rugs of varying heights.
Due to straight “nose” can get into corners and right against wall/molding.
Large beater bar and relatively large dust bin.
Very large contact points on robot/charging station making it easy to get a connection when recharging.
Built in carrying handle
Issues (for me);
Initially had issue trying to getting wireless setup. Would not connect while robot was docked. As soon as I moved it off – it connected.
After several attempts I could not get it to complete a whole home floor plan. I own a 3200 sq.ft. 1 level house with pretty open floor plan. Over several attempts the most it would map was around 1600 sq. ft. – with it appearing to go over previous “mapped” areas multiple times rather than do entire house. I had everything picked up off of the floor with only chairs/furniture to maneuver around (I have used robots before). I was thinking of creating 2 floor plans but to do that you have to start robot from the dock – and since I cannot control where it goes this proved undoable.
Could not test the no go lines as they only work with a home floor plan and I never could get one created.
Never “docked” itself during a run to recharge so it also never “re-started” cleaning from where it had stopped prior to recharging.
No dock button on robot itself – only start/stop.
Docking option within the app is grayed out at times when cleaning. Could not determine conditions that causes this. This is an issue since I wound up doing 1 room at a time with me carrying robot to/from charger and with no docking button on robot and app having grayed out “dock” button, I had no option but to dock it myself.
Cannot go between “eco” and “turbo” mode if robot running. You have to pause the cleaning then restart.
Boundary marker is nice and thick and magnetic. But I am not sure how a magnet helps since I don’t have any metal in my floors, so only its weight keeps it secured. As such IF the robot encounters it head-on it will reverse but then tries to go around it using a sideways motion. This motion just moved the marker out of the way on any hard surface.
The top of the dustbin gets really dusty when emptying making robot always appear dirty.
Filter does a great job of filtering debris but this makes it hard to “clean” Its folds hold the dirt so have to “beat” it against side of garbage can – sending dust flying I didn’t want to breath and getting my hands dirty.
No running time for how long robot has been cleaning. Time is shown only upon completion of run as is the map and sq. ft.
Received a “clear my path” message on the app while running. I selected “press here for more info” and it took me to a non-existent page. As such could find no way to restart the robot using the app. Had to physically press the start button.
It cleans well but does not fulfill advertised promises that in my opinion make it less than it could/should be.

The same day I tried out my Neato D6 for the first time, my wife had just vacuumed with our Dyson. The bin on the D6 was overfilled by the time it had completed cleaning. If this thing could also make sandwiches I wouldn't need my wife anymore. Seriously though, we have 2 dogs and this thing will save us a ton of time. Not as loud as I was expecting, I always run on eco mode. Turbo mode is a little louder. App works well and seems pretty intuitive.

This is my second Neato Robotics vac, this one is definitely improved over the earlier model, although I was happy with the cleaning ability. We have three large dogs that shed a lot, our Neato vac runs almost every day and it's amazing how much dog hair it picks up. This saves us time and keeps our home very clean.

This is my second robot vac. The first one was a Samsung R7040, but it wasn't very smart. This one is much smarter and the mapping is very thorough. It took a couple of tries to finish the mapping, but once it did I was able to create the "no go" lines. I had to adjust these lines on the next run, but since then it goes exactly where I want it too and stays away from where it should not go. Seems to have good suction. I have not had to use the Turbo mode yet and on "ECO" mode it does the entire area on a single battery charge. The only reasons I knocked off a star is because the instructions are pretty lacking in servicing the vacuum and the vacuum will get stuck (wedged) under something if the clearance is minimal. Overall I would definitely recommend it.

Had minor issues with the app during setup but those bugs seem to have been updated.
We use it on our dark hardwood floors 3 times a week. Does a great job with the dog hair from our Golden. Low profile design, fits under furniture and the grid it follows does a great job.
Would buy it again.
