Customers are pleased with the Botvac D6's cleaning performance and navigation capabilities, frequently praising its ability to thoroughly clean floors and effectively maneuver around obstacles. Many appreciate the mapping feature and long battery life, allowing for efficient cleaning of larger areas. However, some users noted that the robot can be noisy and the dustbin requires frequent emptying. The app is generally well-received, but some experienced issues with docking.

As a neat freak, as well as a techie (especially smart home technology), as I was really excited to get my first robot vacuum. I never really thought I needed one until I got one.
When I received the package, the first thing I noticed was how nicely packaged everything was and how little parts there were. There was no annoying styrofoam or packing peanuts which I appreciated. The Neato comes fully assembled and everything was pretty self explanatory. I found a spot for the charging base and set the Neato there to charge for awhile.
It is a pretty big unit, luckily I was able to hide it under my TV console. The first thing to do is to download the Neato app and if you have an Alexa house, enable the Neato skill in the Alexa app. I named my robot R2-D2, so whenever I ask Alexa to clean the house, I get a big nerd smile.
Once the app is downloaded, have neato do it's first cleaning. It will take a while but what amazed me was that when it was done, it created an entire floor plan of my condo in the app. When it got stuck (usually from a cat toy), I knew exactly where it was and freed it.
After that I set up no go lines along with a schedule. My bedroom is where it would get stuck most of the time so i set that up as a "no go" area. Now, when I have it scheduled to run and I am not home, I don't have to worry about the Neato getting stuck. Setting up these no go areas was ridiculously easy using the app and is a huge convenience.
When it does get stuck I get a notification on my watch and it shows me exactly where it is which is pretty cool. My bedroom was the main culprit with cat toys and a wire under my bed so I set it as the no go zone. I can vacuum that room myself. My main reason for wanting this was the main room and kitchen having kitty litter and other debris everywhere. My hardwood floors show everything and the Neato picks it all up.
Since this is, after all, a vacuum, let's talk about its cleaning ability. It does an amazing job of cleaning and is great with cat hair as well. It gets into every corner and crevice and slips under furniture easily if there is clearance. The sensors that they put into this beauty are amazing. I find no missed spots after it runs and it goes right back to its base when it's done. I even ran it after my cleaning later had been here and it still picked up a lot more. The dust bin is spacious and the battery life has been terrific.
Loving my Neato!

I like the Neato Botvac D6 Connected App-Controlled Robot Vacuum. The first pass of my 1,600 sq. ft. ranch home mapped my floor plan to 1,091 sq. ft. having a cleaning cycle of 1Hr 47 Mins. It uses both its front bump sensor and right sided Class 1 LASER to guide it through obstacles in your home. I was amazed on how much dirt it picked up just from the first mapping cycle. I do have two high-shedding short haired cats and the robot vacuum dust container was approximately 4/5th full with cat hair and dust. After its first mapping cycle I used the app on my Android phone to set up boundaries where it failed to navigate a couple obstacles and became stuck. Upon its second use, I noticed how the robot vacuum starts to clean via making a perimeter path of a room and then follows an overlapping snake-like back and forth pattern. This second pass, three days after the first pass, covered 932 sq. ft. at 1Hr 30 Mins. and also filled the dust container to approximately 4/5th full once again.
Both Eco mode and Turbo mode creates lots of noise with an average level of 85 decibels with peak of 90 decibels at a range of 4 feet. I used both modes in its 3rd and 4th cycles and didn’t see a significant change in the amount of debris it collected. The majority of my home is hardwood with only my two bedrooms being carpeted. I did notice that the cleaning motion of the robot vacuum appeared labored on my low pile carpet and wonder how it would perform for those having higher pile carpets.
Pros:
Cleans very well
App very intuitive / easy to use
Cons:
Very loud
Takes 1.5Hrs to clean approximately 1,100 sq. ft.
Need to remove obstacles like bar stools and dining room chairs to allow for greater cleaning area
Replacement parts of the brush kit and filters are fairly expensive

This Device is a Life Saver

I have degenerative disc disease and this is something that has saved me from dragging the vacuum cleaner out twice a week and doing contortion acts to get under the couch, chairs and tables.
Location – Put the base charger in an area where you will be storing it with free space of 3 ft on either side and 3 ft in front of it or thereabouts.
For starters download the available app to control the Neato device and get it ready to plan out a vacuuming floor plan with its laser technology for your house and set up a schedule for every day or twice a week or whatever is convenient for your schedule. There are “no-go lines” within the app so you can have a boundary of where you do not want the Neato to go, i.e. dog dishes, water dishes or dog areas in general.
Amazingly this Neato device has a running time of approximately 2 HOURS if not using turbo mode. If it can’t finish the job in a timely manner, it will go back to its charging base and will charge up to only what time is needed to finish the job. Then, when it is done it will go back to the charging base and fully charge for the next vacuuming session.
The D shape design seems to be best for getting into tight spaces and corners, unlike my old round design robot vacuum.
It is recommended to change the filter every 1 – 2 months depending on usage. In my opinion for the price of this Neato they should have a reusable/washable type of filter rather than having an additional cost. I do highly recommend this Neato D6 Connect system. However, due to the additional cost of buying filters every few months, I am giving it 4 stars.

I can vacuum my whole house twice in the time it takes to get this thing to clean 10 sqr feet. Neato needs to figure out better navigation on their robo vacuums. Not very good. So many problems with navigation. This thing just wont navigate. Stops and starts saying it needs you to clear the path while in the middle of a hardwood floor with nothing within 10 feet of it. Its a $600 + paperweight at this point.

Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for leaving a review for your Neato robot. The navigation you've described certainly does not sound up to par, and we would like to investigate the error messages about having to clear its path further with you. We encourage you to contact us at [email protected] so we can reach out to you and look into this.

The neato Botvac D6 Connected is an impressive household vacuum cleaner that is happy vacuuming hard surfaces as well as on carpet – as long as that carpet is not too shaggy.
The unit comes well outfitted with the robot, its charging base and 1 boundary marker – which is a magnetic strip designed to keep the robot out of areas of the room – such as furniture it might get stuck under or an area where there may be things to get snagged on.
The robot is controlled from the Neato App that is available on both Android and the iOS (Apple) and makes use of Wi-Fi to connect the robot and allow it to be controlled. While the D6 can store multiple floor plans – each floor must have a spot for the charging base. It is unclear to me if you could move the single base unit to new locations and use it on multiple floors – although that would decrease it usefulness to have to move the base and to robot between floors.
To use the robot, you must first have it do a special cleaning run to allow the unit to record a map. This helps the robot in learning its surroundings and where its base. This is where I had some troubles after a couple of runs. My wife then stepped and just ran the robot from the app – without running the special cleaning run and voila! We had a map and a now can run the robot whenever we desire to do so. The robot can also be set up to run a scheduled cleaning run and it will do so as requested and then return to its base once done. The robot will send you messages when it needs to have its bin emptied and when it gets stuck.
My wife and I have found the robot to be very useful and now we love it. So much so that my wife has named it Niles after the Butler on the TV show on the Nanny!

I bought this product as we have 3 dogs. I don't mind cleaning the brush every so often and all of that. But the part that spins the brush is not tight enough and debris and dog hair has stopped the motor from working. The bearing on the other side of the brush isn't tight enough either and eventually you will have to spray lubricant in there too. For the 400 bucks I spent, for it to last right past the warranty. I would not recommend.

Neato D6 has issues. I have had 2 of them and both of them broke shortly after purchase. I talked to Neato directly and all they said was send it in for repair, but that takes FOREVER. Both of mine had software issues not allowing the vacuum to start or charge. The Neato worked for about a month and then just died. I can see maybe one of them breaking down but not 2 of them with the same issue. I am going to try IRobot cause Neato is garbage.
