This is a 2.5 stars item well because yes it does clean and vacuums carpets very well but unfortunately the setup and floor plans are very difficult to setup, the app and the vacuum itself needs always input from someone, also the fact that if you want to clean 2 different areas in your house you will need to buy an extra charging station (for an 800 dollars vacuum) so if you are planning to have the vacuum for only on room yes it definitely works for that, but if you want to clean the living room, the bethrooms and maybe another carpeted room you will need to buy 3 or 4 extra charging stations one for each room (around 40 dollars each, do the math) I have the intention to setup different rooms for different days of the week but i cant, so if i want to vacuum the living room it will do the whole house and it might not finished before returning to the charge station. The app its also complicated there 3 modes "house, spot and manual" the house mode does not do anything just tells you how the vacuum its setup for the next cleaning, the spot ask you how big the spot area to clean is but you will have to carry the vacuum to the spot first so it kind of defeats the purpose of being self-powered, the manual you drive the vacuum with your phone like an RC toy so nothing exiting about that. Now if for some reason the vacuum starts its schedule cleaning and you want to cancel it you cant, you can stop it but you will have to manually carrie the robot where it stopped or drive it back to the charging station, there is a dock option once it starts but its always disable, once you pressed it tell you that the vacuum its locating itself and it will be able to dock back in a few minutes, but the button never gets enable so good luck trying to get it back to the base. Now the vacuums itself its great it does clean and vacuum carpets with easy, yes its a bit louder that other brands but i will think its because it has more suction power. Don't get me wrong the engineering for this item its amazing, the fact that it cleans carpets on its own its great, it beats any other manual vacuums but for the price tag i was expecting a vacuum a bit more "intelligent" and also and app that can be a bit more user friendly the fact that i can't have different floor plans without extra accessories it makes it a half way the vacuum. For the fact that there are many other choices in the market i would not recommend this vacuum to someone else unless they have and extra 800 dollars just for fun.

    NEATO ROBOT VAC CLEANS WELL

Upon opening the box, NEATO was packed very well with all items in specific locations that were secured by heavy-duty packaging. All parts were there and there was no "assembly required", which is nice when getting a new product. Charging was overnight. I downloaded the NEATO appl from the ANDROID store for my Samsung S8+. Setting up the NEATO VAC the following day, was difficult. I read and reread the instructions to make sure I wasn't missing something, but getting its BLUETOOTH to turn on was difficult. If the light came on, the appl didn't recognize there was a VAC waiting to be found. It took numerous attempts - powering the VAC on/off, opening/closing the appl, etc. Finally I was able to connect. It should not have been this hard. NEATO VAC POSITIVE: I have NEATO set on “Eco Clean” and it cleans really well. I have 2 other robot vacs and the NEATO cleans better than my BOBI, which up until getting NEATO, I thought was the best vac! NEATO and BOBI are much better than the SHARK I have. NEATO VAC NEGATIVES: (1) It is REALLY loud AND noisy. Has a continuous "grinding noise" when running - on tile or carpet - which is really annoying. (2) It seems to clean only in the 2 areas/rooms that are closest to its Charging Station ... which is a breakfast room and kitchen. It has only slightly wandered into the living room a couple of times, and then immediately returns to cleaning the kitchen. The manual says that it will clean an area until IT KNOWS it's all done, and then will move to another room. So far, that hasn't happened. It just hangs out in the 2 original rooms. Maybe I need to run NEATO every day for 2 weeks to see if operation improves? (My house isn’t that dirty, though.) ALSO, the "map" it built of my kitchen & breakfast room look nothing like the actual rooms. Will this improve over time? (3) NEATO seems to know when it’s battery is getting low and needs charging, but unlike my other 2 robot vacs, NEATO does NOT return to its Charging Station to get more “juice” like the manual says it will. It just beeps and stops and the App says to “carry the vac to its Charging Station”. So much for automation if I’m continually getting up, locating NEATO, and carrying it somewhere! Recharging to 100% is slow, which NEATO seems to need. My NEATO stopped running with 50% battery charge remaining … I carried back to Charger and it estimates 1:45 minutes to get to 100% charge; that seems a bit slow. NEATO APP: Easy to download. Initially seemed to have a problem finding its own robot vac and the app didn’t do anything except send me messages about the NEATO not doing something or battery low. I ended up downloading the app from the Store AGAIN, and this version had the “missing” schedule capability. The Schedule has some flexibility as far as “which days” you want to clean and the START time, but not the END time. I’m still using NEATO to see if it ever builds a “map” of my entire downstairs, but so far, it’s only done the kitchen and breakfast room. The MANUAL says to keep your “robot software updated”. How do you do that … on YOUR ROBOT? I can download updates to the phone/table app, but I haven’t found any way to download software to the actual robot. The Manual doesn’t say WHERE/HOW to get these updates. Like I said, the VAC cleans really well, but way too noisy, which is distracting when working from an adjacent home office!

    Cleans good, features not so

This is our second Neato product (Had a Connected model previously). Only owned two Neatos so can't compare to other makes. With that said both of our vacuums D7 and Connected resulted in lengthy emails and numerous phone calls to customer support and ended with replacements sent for both. As for the D7 the unit is suppose to return to the base only long enough to clean rest of house. It never charged long enough to clean and had to return a 2nd time and sometimes a 3rd to finish.ugh. Also the D7 wasn't as aggressive as the Connected model as it would shy away from tight areas whereas the Connected model would force itself in to clean the area. Lastly, the D7 we returned sounded like a rusty child's toy rolling around the house. The replacement did not do this. Overall, I could have rated lower given all the time on the phone/email, but the awesome support made it worth the effort. In hindsight would have stuck with the Connected model and saved some $$. The no go lines don't work when the D7 doesn't recognize the saved floorplan. This occurred quite often and had to vacuum without no go lines.

My last robotic vacuum was a Roomba 56o/562 which has lasted 10 years. I replaced it with the Neato D7 to help with the German Shedder puppy I have. The D7 has performed perfectly for the month I’ve had it. I contacted support about a problem with the side brush occasionally falling off. Support asked me to remove the brush and see if the magnetic pin which holds the brush on spins. It did until I put a little pressure on it then it would stop. They determined I needed to RMA my D7 and they would send me a new unit. The problem I have is they won’t ship my new unit until I return the “defective “ unit. I think at least in the warranty period they ought to do advanced replacement. The vacuum still works so I can still use it until the new unit shows up. I hope this isn’t a precursor to how the Neato vacuum holds up.

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave an honest review on your D7 Connected. Unfortunately the only other option would be a repair for your robot, which can take a few more days than a direct replacement.

We're confident in our robots and their ability to clean for many, many years, so we're confident your replacement robot will hold up.

I should have done it sooner. That said I had it a week and an update came out that has the maps and scheduler broken. It can and does still clean the house when I ask it too. It was easily a 5 star product until this update. Now its missing too many of the premium features for 5 stars, but is still doing a good job in manual mode.

We have 4 animals so it is nice to just let the vacuum do it’s thing. I wish the unit was completely flat as it gets stuck going under my dresser. I also wish it held more crap in the bin. The extra brush is useless.

We're very sorry to hear your robot gets stuck under your dresser. The virtual No-Go lines which come with your D7 Connected are very helpful for telling the robot to stay away from troublesome areas.

Pros: It has good suction and travels around the house well, noise level is fair. Cons: Doesn’t vac the house in the same pattern, forgets some rooms, gets lost, forgets where home base is located.
