Worth a buy just to keep Square making more

Reminded me a lot of Persona 5 in terms of style, but with faster combat. If you like Persona I do think you’ll like this too. Collecting the massive amount of pins (abilities) seems daunting at first but adds way more depth and customization to the game.

Game is good but play the first game

The story heavily references the first game in the series, so you'll need to play that first. The gameplay can git a bit button-mashy or grindy at times if you don't want to lower the difficulty, but it's convenient that there's a way to lower and raise the difficulty early on. I would say this is a must-play for JRPG fans.

A miss for me

So far 3 hours into the game, pretty disappointed with the gameplay and story. It seems like the game did not grow with its audience and I couldn't connect with any of the characters. Can't help compare this game with Persona 5, which did a much better job making the urban streets of Tokyo feel alive and open. The game might get better but with so many other games out, this one is getting shelved until the unforeseeable future.
