Great for a quick pick-me-up in the middle of the day. I usually do a deep clean two to three times per year using a dedicated cleaning solution (sold separately) which I highly recommend doing to both keep the machine operating at its peak and also for general cleanliness.

There are only two serving size settings, but you can hold your finger down on the button to keep it going. I bought it because of it's small size. Long & narrow. 5 stars for that. Instead of a round water canister at the back, I'd have gone with square and shortened the depth of the machine as it is fairly deep and sticks out further than any of my other kitchen counter gadgets. Square would also hold more water if the kept the same depth. Round I suppose is prettier though. Overall, I highly recommend the machine. A minor grips is that when the coffee is done and the pod released, 1/2 teaspoon of water pours out of the spout.

Excellent espresso/lungo maker with milk frother

It was our first home espresso maker and we like it overall. As the name suggests, it really is very mini/compact for making one cup at a time. The only downside I see is that the space where you put the cup is not enough for regular coffee cups, we have to remove the bottom stand to make most of our cups fit there. Otherwise, love the machine, makes perfect espresso and lungo. Oh the cherry on top is the milk frother, it makes a thick foam. We have taken out the metal spring from frother as we don't like that much foam. I would absolutely recommend this machine to anyone looking for a starter espresso/lungo maker.

Two important notes on this right off the bat: 1) It's compatible with 'original-line Nespresso' capsules; 2)It's very small compared to older machines that used the original-line of capsules. Regarding number 1: I specifically targeted buying Nespresso machines that are original-line compatible. That's because the patent ran out on the design of those. Thus, there are MANY different companies that create original-line compatible capsules. Competition equals cheaper prices! The newer 'Vertuo' capsules are marketed as being more versatile for making different sizes of beverages. I don't care about that. Vertuo capsules can cost sometimes twice the price of original-line capsules since only Nespresso makes them. I DO care about my wallet! Regarding number 2: IIRC, years ago I bought my mom a Nespresso Citiz machine. Whatever the model it actually is, that one is MUCH larger than this Essenza Mini (EM). I bought this for use at work. At work I have a locker about the size of those tall lockers you had in high school. I wanted an espresso machine that fit inside of that. The EM fits perfectly with much room to spare! My mom's machine is also pretty loud when dispensing. Other reviewers of this EM model may complain it's loud, but it's MUCH quieter than my mom's Citiz machine. And both are much quieter than the industrial size espresso machines found at coffee shops! Some complaints (and thus the 4 stars). A) the EM tends to drip for a few seconds after most of the espresso's been dispensed (or, at least, as long as I'm willing to wait to leave my cup underneath the spigot). My solution is just to put a folded paper towel underneath while I drink my espresso. B) With the 'spent capsule cage' in place, there's not a lot of room underneath the spigot for your cup. This may be my fault for using an average coffee mug rather than a 'real' espresso cup. (How uncouth of me!...Whatever!). Removing the cage gives more room for my mug, but just barely enough room. [The spent capsule plops down onto the paper towel I described in A)] The taste of espresso entirely depends on the quality of capsule used. I use Peet's capsules because after scouting of forums, the consensus is that these have the best balance of cost with taste. I'm very happy with those. I like them better than the Nespresso 'sampler capsules' that came with the EM. I only used the Aeroccino once to make sure it worked. It works fine and froths milk pretty quickly. Just be sure to rinse the frother coil ASAP so milk doesn't get caked on between the coils.

Love the espresso from it. If you love espresso you have to try one of these! The espresso drinks you can make at home are great even if it is just 2 shots of espresso milk creamer and ice saves you money.

I love the foam this coffee maker creates with its capsules! I have to admit that I have a Keurig for my regular morning coffee….I need at least 8 oz to start the day. I use this as my dessert/treat coffee. Great taste and texture! I don’t use nespresso pods but I use these pods from Italy that are more affordable.
