Works well with their pods, but the pods are expensive and this particular model doesn't work with a lot of re-useable pods. Be very careful trying to order pods on amazon.

I love my Nespresso Coffee Maker. Best Christmas gift I've received. I am still having trouble connecting the machine to my Bluetooth though.

Bought because several family members have Nespressos. Used them, loved them. Finally bought one but it is nothing like theirs (and all three have different versions). This Next version is louder, slower, produces a barely warm cup of coffee. I use a cup that happens to have measurements on side. It usually brews less than what it says, if it’s 4 oz, I get 2 oz of coffee and 1 oz of foam. Family machines make coffee that looks like cream is on top. Tastes creamy as well. Mine is pale coffee with dark, airy foam on top. Doesn’t even look appetizing. Tastes watered down. Maybe it’s broken. Stopped using it after making all the sampler pods. Afraid to buy more pods to get same results. Disappointed in mine.

Brought this for my son who enjoys getting coffee on the go. He loves that he can make a single cup in minutes when he’s on the run.

So, my impression of the Breville/Nespresso Vertuo Next Coffee/Espresso Machine. Well, it comes in a recyclable box that’s 95% recycled material, so that’s a good thing…right? The machine itself is made from 54% recycled plastic, again good for the planet. Lastly, they will send you a prepaid envelope/bag to return your used pods to them for recycling. The box is rather neat, it folds open with the front face dropping down to expose the machine. Just take it out and tada, ready for the counter. I used hot water and dish soap to wash the water reservoir and then followed the direction, running the unit without a pod which took about 5 minutes and used about 2/3 of the water. I place a decent size pot under the spout to make sure the hot water didn’t overflow. Once that was done, the unit was ready to make coffee. My first dilemma, I’m not a caffeine coffee drinker, I do decaffeinated. The sample box of 12 only has one decaffeinated pod, so do I use it first and see what happens or use a caffeinated one and take a few sips. I chose the latter, saving the decaffeinated one for a time when I want to enjoy it. Making a cup is easy as can be. I have a couple of machines that use pods and like those, I just make sure there’s water in the reservoir and a pod in the chamber. Lock the lid and press the button. I chose an espresso and brewed a swig. By swig, I mean just that. It barely covered the bottom of the cup, but man it packed a punch. I had to add cream and stevia so I could enjoy a few sips. That first sip straight was powerful. That said, I’m sure coffee drinkers would love the swig. It was nice a foamy/frothy and if it were brewed in a proper glass, I’m sure it would look like it was bought at the corner café. Next the pods…both good and bad. The good, well the one I tried taste great. They are available in 5 sizes from Espresso, Double Espresso, Gran Lungo, Coffee/mug/café, and Alto. Basically, glass sizes, shot, double shot, coffee cup, large coffee cup/mug, and one of those tall travel cups with a lid. The box states 40ml to 414ml. Oh wait, the email I received shows sizes in ounces for those of us that never learned the metric system! They are espresso shot and double shot, 5, 8, 14, and 18oz. What’s bad about the pods. Well, the machine is new, and you can’t find any locally. They have a mail order deal, but who wants that. Consumers are bombarded with monthly pay programs and no one I know wants another deal to be locked into. The question I have is the pods are barcoded. Does that mean they’re going to be like inkjet cartridges and no 3rd party pods are going to work and if someone does come out with one, are we the users going to have to trick the machine into recognizing it? If so and the cost of pods stays over a buck, I’m going to have a very heavy doorstop. Speaking of heavy or large. The unit is hefty and does take up a bit of real estate on my limited kitchen counter. Finally, there is an app for Nespresso, but it’s for future upgrades so I registered and downloaded the app but was told in advance that it wasn’t ready for use because the unit is fully updated. I don’t hold that against them on the review. The Bluetooth feature isn’t ready, and they were upfront about that. To sum it up, the unit performs excellently and does what I expect it to do. I’d like the ability to purchase a reusable pod that I could fill with decaf or a lower-priced option for decaf. I’d also like to see other decaf varieties. I know real coffee drinkers drink leaded, but I don’t enjoy buzzing around for hours on end. I just enjoy a hot beverage now and then. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone that enjoys a shot of caffeine or a travel cup of joe when they head out to work. Just know that for the near future, choices of coffee blends are limited, and you have to use the service to purchase more pods.

First one I bought ended up leaking water under the base of the unit. Bought another and purchased the BB insurance plan for it, in case the issue happened again later down the road.
