Google - Nest Mini (2nd Generation): For all current Google SMART Home users expanding with this Nest Mini: You’ve seen most of this before. Appearance, operational controls and even the price looks the same (ignoring sale prices). The Google Home App on your phone will recognize the Mini using bluetooth, and get it onto to your home wireless as fast as you can assign it to a room and enter a few passwords. From there it’s a matter of some enhancements. I’ve got two Home Mini smart speakers already so I’m familiar with how that model works, sounds and responds. As far as the Google Assistant, you’re already benefitting from whatever updates have happened this past year so all your minis share the same underlying software features. Yes, the sound is fuller and the voicing is somewhat more natural. It can get louder, but don’t expect to fill a large room. It gets harsh if played too loudly. We have no problem using the speaker for playing back 21st century radio (Pandora or Spotify) but it wouldn’t be a first choice. We have too many other sound sources. As personal search and info assistants they provide us instant store hours, restaurant locations, weather reports, scores, and a broad range of Smart device control. I’ll deal with that below followed by a summary. Review for folks getting started with this first Google Smart Home device: I guess I’m now an advanced Google Home user. It’s been all of 2 years since I installed a Google activated speaker and one year since I expanded with a Google Home Mini (1st Generation) Smart Speaker with Google Assistant. First, here’s what I’m doing with my Google devices but be advised it’s all easier to do than describe. Any "Google aware" smart home device attached to the same wireless network as your Google (Nest) Mini is also controlled by voice or by using the Google Home App on your phone. As you grow your Google Home system, you gain remarkable remote control over YOUR home. “Hey, Google, turn ON hallway lights.” I’ve added GE C controllable lights in 12 locations. So, far, I prefer to limit my voice controlled lights to those locations that are awkward to get to (deck lights, entryway, hallway) or lights that add convenience (that extra bedroom light). “Hey, Google, turn ON deck lights.” I’ve added Leviton Smart LED Dimmers to control those lights that aren’t C by GE controllable. “Hey Google, play "America" on Pandora on the Sony Soundbar” It turned out that a Sony Soundbar I use on a bedroom TV is controlled by Google Home. Surprise. “Hey Google, start RoMo” (I named our iRobot.) And, our iRobot M6 Mop is controlled by Google Home. The Google Nest Mini (2nd Gen) adds control over our home filled with smart devices from any location in our house that is within hearing range of the Mini. At the same time the Nest Mini is a room speaker with improved sound quality. It plays bigger than before. It’s a smart, convenient, affordable, always available, life assistant

This is the first time that I have used a Google smart speaker extensively, (I spent a couple minutes with my aunt’s Google home, the original one) and after a few days of having this little guy, I must say I am impressed. The packaging was simple and straight to the point. Inside came the speaker, a round power cable and a quick start guide. I really like the look and feel of the device. The speaker is round, and the cover looks and feels like a cloth-like material and I would be surprised if it really wasn’t cloth. On the bottom of the speaker there is a small notch that allows you to mount the Nest mini onto a wall, this is a great addition to have as you’re now not limited to place it on your desk or counter. Also, there is a physical switch that allows you to turn off the microphone. I also appreciate that it has touch controls on the top underneath the cloth. It allows you to play/pause in the center while on either end a tap will allow you to set the volume to your preference, with the LED lights on top indicating the volume level . When it comes to audio, this little guy puts out much more sound than I thought it would, to be specific, I mean it got much louder than I thought it would. Also, the bass feedback is pretty good especially when your place it against an appropriate surface. Loudest is not the only thing though, the sound comes through clearly and there is very little distortion at high volumes. I threw various genres at it, and all sounded reasonably well. This speaker isn’t necessarily aimed purely at listening to music, so keep that in mind when you look at these. Setting this up with my phone (android) was straightforward and easy. Download the Home app and it picks it up and sets it up quickly. After that you’re ready to use Google Voice Assistant, which is better than ever. With a quick “Hey google” you can begin asking it a plethora of things as well asking it to play music from any of your music streaming apps (i.e. Pandora, Spotify, YouTube music). Another thing I must point out is that the Nest mini is very good at picking out my voice from surrounding noise, such as from a TV or from another speaker playing in the room. This must be a result of the mic combination within the Nest mini as well as Google’s software for voice recognition, well done Google. If you’re looking for a little companion for a small space that will be a great voice assistant, the Nest mini will be a great buy, whether for someone new to smart speakers or someone who already has a google ecosystem set up at home and wants to add a new speaker to another room.

My needs were simple. I use it to listen to music and as a doorbell chime. Connected it to my Nest doorbell. Now I get announcements when someone's at the door. I also have the Nest Audio on another floor. This one is small and cute and in the color blue which is always out of stock. Less expensive than the audio too. Perfect for my needs!

It was easy to set up using the Google Home app, pretty self explanatory. I like the color, the size, and the placement of the "buttons" and how they light up when you press in their vicinity. I liked that it was easily connectable to my google chromecast, and that I can now turn my tv on and off with just my voice. I don't have speak at a high volume for my Nest Mini to hear me and answer me. I think it's a cool little companion, very pleased. So far, I like it more than Amazon's Alexa.

Excellent assistant. For English learner speakers is useful because you can practice your spelling in order to tell it correct instructions. I tested GE Bulbs and they can be controlled with this device without any problem. The stereo speaker is good enough for small living rooms. It was a very good purchase.

I currently have a first generation Google Home Mini, and it's been great. I was very impressed at how a few little features can make such a difference. Most importantly, the audio quality seems to be very much improved from the previous generation. The Nest Mini sounds excellent, and is able to hear and decipher what I'm saying, even when my surround sound is up fairly high. It's very accurate as well. It's so convenient to set up routines for frequent things you may do as well. I have routines set to change the colors on my hue lights and dim the ones in the hall so that I can more properly set the mood for the movie or show I'm watching. It's very easy to recommend this latest iteration, even as an addition to your home, if you already have a Google Home device. Pros: sounds great, excellent ability to hear and accurately use my voice, convenient addition of wall mount Cons: now uses a different power cord adapter, so replacements aren't as easy

The Nest Mini (2nd Generation) with Google Assistant in Coral is a great upgrade from the previous generation. The sound quality has been improved, and it's louder and clearer than before. The Google Assistant is also more responsive and accurate, making it easy to control your smart devices, play music, and get answers to your questions. The design of the device is also very modern and sleek. The coral color is a nice touch that adds a pop of color to any room. The Nest Mini (2nd Generation) is also small and compact, making it easy to place it anywhere in your home. The device is easy to set up and integrate with other smart devices, like lights, thermostats, and security cameras. The Nest app is user-friendly and makes it easy to control and monitor your devices. Overall, I would highly recommend the Nest Mini (2nd Generation) with Google Assistant in Coral to anyone looking for a powerful and convenient smart speaker. It's a great addition to any smart home and provides a great value for the price.

I purchased several of these speakers to use with our Google Home system. What I like is their compact size and ease of use. They were also very easy to install and set up. The speaker itself provides a clean crisp sound whether I am listening to music or getting a response to a question. I would definitely purchase these again.

What a great product at a great price. Bought these for all of my kids rooms and creates a home group so we can cast the same songs throughout the house. Also a nice feature is being able to broadcast messages to the various Google speakers. As for the sound, it doesn't have amazing bass, but it's still very good sound for the size of the speaker. Highly recommend

We have 4 of these google minis in our home and they work great to broadcast to different rooms or down to the basement......like when dinner is ready, etc. Plus they do all the commands and play music. They are great little assistants. Don't know how we made it without them Grab yourself a couple of these while they are on sale. You won't regret it.

Best Smart Home Speaker to Begin Your Smart Home

I've always loved the google assistant and because of that, this was the obvious choice for me for starting my smart home. It sounds surprisingly good and has a lot of features that surprised me. Besides the usual song playing and question answering, you can cast your audio to your the speaker and have it act as a Bluetooth speaker. There's even a "call my phone" feature for if you misplace your phone somewhere in the house! The build quality is excellent and it is surprisingly dense and heavy for its size. Not super heavy but it had a surprising heft to it. The rubberized bottom makes it less likely to move around and the touch controls add that extra convenience that we all love. It even has a wall mount on the bottom if you want to go that route. And if you are worried about privacy and it listening to you even though it doesn't record, there is an integrated mute switch on the back that cuts the mic on the hardware level, meaning that it doesn't just tell the mic to not listen, it physically cuts power to it making it impossible for the mics to listen giving you that extra sense of privacy. Its a great product to start off your smart home and is even better if you have a Pixel device.

Had this smart speaker for a month and love it so far. Still learning what all it can do. It was very easy to set up. Currently have it connected to our smart tvs, surround sound system, and Spotify. For being a little speaker, it is loud. It's very convenient using it to turn on/off, adjust the volume, and switch between HDMI ports on the TV. Overall, no complaints!

I've been using the home mini since the first generation. I love how it is capable of understand different languages. Whenever I can ask for something in Spanish and then ask for another in English and it totally responds. Good sound, I can play my music smoothly. Also, it can manage other devices that are connected to my Google account. Cons, you may reboot it from time to time to help it keep running good.

This was very easy to setup and it works quite well with controlling our smart devices that we've added to the Google Home ecosystem. The sound is great for steaming music and we were able to hang it on a 3M Command hook to keep it out of view which is also nice.

Great speaker for the price. I bought two on black Friday, then went back the next day and bought two more for my Dad. Super easy to set up as a speaker group with the original Google Home I already had. Great sound quality with good sound clarity and just the right amount of bass.

This is the 4th Nest Mini I have set up in my home. I use them daily and enjoy them. Easy to set up and very easy to use. Put one in your kitchen and use the "set alarm" function while you are cooking so you don't ( like I do ) have to worry about remembering the cooking time. Plus, I love the music selections. These also have surprising sound quality for such a compact device.
