The Netgear 24 x 8 Docsis 3.0 Cable Modem is one of the best cable modems on the market today. It does not use the questionable Intel Puma 6 chip set inside which apparently has caused some issues with the cable modems that does contain it according to some users. Works very with the Altice Suddenlink internet provider. You can also access the Netgear cable modem Gateway to maintain and monitor the modem's operational performance.

I bought this modem to replace the modem I was leasing from spectrum. This modem was very easy to setup with one call to spectrum and I’m less than one year it will pay for itself.

With the Comcast modem I was able to pull a max of 25mbps by calling Comcast and have it reset it and sending people to check the cable lines all the time with no luck, so I decided to buy my own modem and router and I'm glad I did. Since day one of installation I haven't called Comcast and I get between 85 to 90 Mbps without ever dropping signal with 15 wireless devices, huge difference in Mbps. $500 for both router and modem but it was worth it, I love it.

This router was very easy to set up directly out of the box. It took about five minutes for it actually here with the modem. But once paired signal strong and reach throughout the house.

Switched from Comcast 100 Mb download to 200 Mb download with my Arris SB6141 but since it has 8 channels down it was incapable of 200 Mb downloads. Bought the Netgear because it has 24 channels. After some computer and router adjustments I am getting 235 Mb downloads no problem. Setup was easy, replaced the Arris with the Netgear, Called Comcast with the MAC address so they can download the provisioning file and it was working.

A router is a router. Assuming you get one that's compatible with your Internet Service Provider, the next thing you should look for is the design. I keep my router/modem out in the open so I prefer one that looks good. This Netgear router looks fine but it is rather large. It's meant to stand up, but then the coaxial cable is plugged in, it actually pulls it backwards on the back of the base. So I lay it flat. If you have your modem hidden and standing it up is no issue, then this is a great modem. But if the area where you will be putting the modem is limited (i.e. low height on a shelf) than you will need to take that into consideration.
