A lot faster than the oceanic cable modem i had and now i don't have to pay the $10/mth rental fee.

Had to upgrade to this modem to match my plan and so far it’s been holding up well.

It is good product, with acceptable price, will advise to my friend.

Only downside is that it was a straight cable modem with no wireless capability

I bought this so I could drop the rental unit but had to return it as it doesn't work if you want to keep your phone service. Yes, I know, time to drop the phone service and use my cell phone but with the contract, I'd still have to pay for it anyway. BestBuy should probably update the info to say that it won't work with Xfinity phone service.

Netgear modem does the job, remember you will need a router for WIFI.

Set up was fairly simple. Smart devices (Echo) in the next room frequently loses connection and I’m getting “limited bandwidth” messages when connected to streaming services. All-in-all, would not choose this unit again.

It is okay, but gets slow when family (4 people) all using internet.

All my devices including family members are able to pick-up WI-FI.

The Background Story My ISP connection was down for more than 24 hours weekend of 11/21-22/2015 which was reported on my ISP account page accessed by cell phone. When service was restored late 11/22/2015 my modem would no longer connect after years of terrific service. Tried factory reset and unplugging the modem. Checked cables, ethernet connectors and the single splitter all to no avail. Called the ISP and was informed the modem is now end-of-life/end-of-service. The ISP would not reprovision/update firmware so it is time to replace the older modem after three years. Used my cell phone Sunday night on the Best Buy site and found the Netgear CM600. Ordered the Netgear CM600 early Monday morning and it arrived Wednesday morning with free shipping. Installation The unboxed modem is not as big as imagined - tall, thin and very light. Installation guide is very clear and uncomplicated. Simply attach the incoming ISP cable, plug in the modem power adapter and wait for it to initialize - all lights green. Plug the ethernet cable from the modem into the computer and immediately the ISP provisioning website pops up in a web browser. It took less than five minutes to initialize - no call to the ISP needed. Checked my ISP account page and the modem was already there. Performance and Experience The replaced modem is a 4 x 4 channel unit. The CM600 is a 24 x 8 channel unit hopefully with some future-proofing. Modem interface now shows 16 downstream channels. Internet speed does not test faster, but pages load much quicker. The CM600 runs very cool - hardly warm to the touch. I run two 802.11ac routers attached by ethernet and wireless in an extended network. The home network has never been more stable with no drop in Internet speed at the distant router. I have two streaming media boxes that now connect in split seconds whereas in the past it might take more than a minute. Thanks Best Buy and Netgear. You saved the Internet! My spouse thinks I am a genius, but I must give credit where it is due!
