It is hard to get excited about a wired Ethernet switch in this age of WiFi, but if you need one, this is a good choice. I'm using it to connect my slightly older Blue-Ray player, game console, and not-so-smart HDTV to a cable modem for streaming video. This does the job very well. It was very easy to connect, has been rock solid dependable, and came at a good price point. Ethernet connection is one of those things you really don't think about on a daily basis. As long as it works, you ignore it, and I haven't had to pay attention to it, which is a good thing.

Small and discreet... I needed to add a bunch of cabled ethernet devices to my router, but my router did not have enough ports. Also, I would have had to string three more cables between my desk and the router 30 feet away. Simply pulling the ethernet out of my computer, and plugging it into this switch, then adding all the other cables needed for the original device (computer) and the three other devices... NOW I have all four devices wired saving my WiFi space for video traffic!!!

I have three on my network installed over the last few hears. All PnP on one step install - even cascaded. I have one serving three ip cameras and a computer; cascaded to a second one; then it to a 8 port one; then it to a four port Cisco AC/gigabit router. My other one has four media center devices hooked to it feeding into the router. I just bought another one today for a spare since it was on sale. I'm very happy with all of them. I check for internet speeds every day and consistently get great readings down and up.

As far as I know, given comparable performance specs, an ethernet switch is a commodity--one brand works as well as another. I bought this model because it was the least expensive, and it has performed perfectly so far. I had recently relocated my office and was not getting the broadband speed I expected. After numerous frustrating tests with my cable company and others, we learned that my ethernet switch was the bottleneck. Replacing the old switch with the new was very simple, and my problems were solved.

I have several of the NETGEAR - 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch devices. These compact devices provide excellent throughput while performing silently. Many of my LAN-based devices are clustered together, such as a media location with a TV, Receiver, Blu-Ray DVD, Media Player, and other devices. Other locations include a PC, network printer and VOIP box. The 5-port switch is ideal to extend "wired" LAN connectivity to these types of clusters. They work in concert with a NETGEAR Router and 8-port Gigabit switch located next to the cable modem.

I have two Western Digital NAS, a My Cloud and an older My Book World. My new Comcast gateway didn't come with enough ports to attach both of the back up drives to my home network. I plugged this switch into the gateway then connected the two backup drives and just like magic I could see both drives from both of my laptops with wireless network connections and my desktop which is hard wired to the network. So easy!

All of the other switches and hubs I have used (I was a Network Administrator), have rows of small round status LED's with small numbers above or below. These are large and actually are the number of the port- which is directly behind. I have another switch at home, from a different manufacturer, and the ports do not correspond to the location of the status lights at all. The numbers are so small you need a magnifying glass. I'm sure this doesn't seem like a big issue. But when you have a problem, it's nice to know which cable it is- at a glance.

Needed a gigabit switch to connect together the ethernet wall jacks in each room of a new house to our modem. No fancy or extra features, just does what it needs to do - connect all devices to the internet using a cable and no wireless. There are slightly smaller 5-port switches but it still fit in the cabinet where all the household cables end.

It works great im sure but I used it for my xbox and laptop at the same time to live stream and it would just packets and connection all together at random,. Literally just stopped servicing network traffic had me thinking i bought a hub the way it just stopped working like that. I had to unplug it and plug it back in just to get it flowing again... I ended up taking it back maybe it just wasnt meant to be used in the manner I was trying to use it.

Purchased online and picked up at Best Buy store same day the Sharp 55 inch Smart 4K Ultra HD, LC-55N7000U on 8/24/16. Great Price, Easy Setup, Great Picture Quality and Sound. The remote control is easy to use and has the primary APP buttons on the remote for seamless use and experience. Tried sites with 4K media to test Sharp 4K picture quality and was very impressed. The non HD and normal HD TV stations look great as well. Easy adjustment can be made to picture appearance from the remote if needed.

I got this when I changed to Xfinity TV and internet service and on their website it listed this and one of the switches that worked with Xfinity's system but neither the installing tech at the house or tech service at Xfinity could make it work. They kept on until it was past the point that I could return it to Best Buy, but that's no fault to Best Buy and this is a good switch because I gave it to my neighbor who is using it with her ATT Uverse service.

Needed to replace an older 10/100 with a Gigabit hub. This one fit the bill - especially for the price. Nice style and easy install. Does what it is supposed to do. I don't like the LED setup. Unlike the more expensive models, you only get a single LED. No way to be sure you are getting Gigabit connections since you have only one Led. At least from what I can tell! Overall, a good budget-friendly hub for those that are 100% sure of their setup.

The first Gigabit switch I bought only a few years back cost $150, had a noisy fan since it got so hot, weighed two pounds, and broke after a year. Now here we are. For almost nothing you get this guy who weighs only a few ounces (I have it wall mounted in my basement), uses almost no power, and actually seems to perform BETTER than my old switch Since I have two networks in the house I’ll probably pick up another. Recommended.

This router does everything a Gigabyte router should, but if you are distributing from two ends of the house, remember that your ISP's router is most likely a slower 10/100 unit. Don't use that ISP router to distribute BETWEEN other computers in your network. That'll slow everything to 10/100. Instead feed only one cable from the ISP router into this Gigabyte router and then run everything else through this router. That will allow everything with Gigabyte capability to communicate at that higher speed.

The internet to my computer and ps4 started cutting in and out really bad. I'd get good speed then terrible speeds, my ps4 kept giving me network errors. I didn't have an issues with network speed until I installed the Netgear Switch. To see if that was a problem, I disconnected the Netgear Switch and I bought a wireless adapter for my computer and now everything works fine. This product is Not recommended.

These extra ports really allows me to tackle the goal of separating my wifi, guest wifi, lan connections. I can mix and match all day plus when my son's friends come over for a weekend of gaming: 2 PS4's, 1 PS3, Desktop, streaming on their phones and TV streaming. My security cameras, far away wireless devices, are undisturbed.

I have only one ether output jack by my audio system. Using this device, I can now connect my Audio receiver, TV, and Blue-ray DVD player to the ether network. I also needed an ether network port for a 4_G network extender. This allowed me to place the network extender by a window (required for GPS signal) instead of connecting to my router that is in a closet far from any windows.

I bought three of these and they are awesome. Together with my netgear 16 port Ethernet switch it works great. I got one in my living room so my tv playstation tv directv box and bluray player are all connected to the Ethernet port. Upstairs in the game room my ps4 PS3 xbox360 smart tv are all connected so now I have freed up at least ten devices (got some computers in office) from wifi giving them super fast connection and in turn speeding up my wifi speed since less devices are on it

I bought this cable modem to replace the one Time Warner gives you with their service. I have their highest speed internet (300 Mbps) and a speed test revealed I was only getting about 60 Mbps. Not what I was paying for. After I installed this cable modem, I did another speed test and now i'm getting 298 Mbps. Not only do I get the internet speed I pay for, I'm also saving money per month by not renting the restrictive modem that comes with their service.

I used it to expand the available number of outgoing ethernet ports for my Google wifi since it only had one. Currently have two devices connected directly to the switch and another connection that runs from the switch to a MOCA set-up with another two devices connected to that at the end point. So far I have had zero issues. It was really the perfect solution to what I needed.
