When you get into switches like these that lack any sort of active features, it's really just a matter of whether or not it delivers on the connectivity speeds, all the ports work and how long it lasts. So far so good. I don't have any sort of electrical consumption meter to analyze the "green" claims, but I have noticed it generates very little heat compared to the Linksys unit it replaced... A safe bet for home networking...

I use this switch at work in my role as IT Support personnel. My company was too silly to make sure I had a switch at my desk to make sure I was able to connect the sometimes multiple machines I 'm working on at my desk to the network so I went out and bought this little guy. Works like a charm and haven't had a problem with it at all. It's small and compact and aesthetically pleasing. Highly recommend for workbenches.

There are some givens here. Only time will really tell how these perform, and most switches are just that. The only difference might be 100Mb or 1000, but Netgear has always proven their reliability over the years, and I like the concepts of lightweight (read: plastic), decent lights, and bold numbers. I chose this over a cheaper brand, because I knew it would continue to work, even if it might get dropped and cracked.

I wanted a color printer but I do not use the color feature that often. The problem with an inkjet is that the ink cartridges dry out long before I use them up. I was told that a laser was the way to go to avoid that problem. Time will tell. Printer was on sale and at a good price and I liked that it was wireless and was an all in one which was more than I was looking for. Would recommend this product.

Although they call it a switch, I would have called this unit a hub or bus. No matter, need to remember that one port is for input. Very easy to install, just plug and play, easy. There is no software to install or need to use your computer at all. Flashing lights easily indicate when connections are made. Small and light weight, easy to hide away out of view and out of your way. The price was good also, I expected to pay more.

Exactly what I needed to extend my internet around my house. My house was prewired with Cat5 in each room but did not have way to activate those outlets until I purchased this switch. I'm not able to utilize my ethernet cords in the far corners of my house without worrying about picking up a good wifi signal. I connected the switch to my ISP router and that was about it for set up which was a breeze.

I was trying to find a way to expand my Ethernet connections for video and my wireless storage; this has a very small form factor, was easy to hook up to my router/modem and was easily recognized by my peripherals. My only issue is that though it has five ports, it only adds three because a port is taken from my router and one of the five ports connects to the router.

With all the gear I have in my bedroom I only had one Ethernet cable. So I quickly ran into an issue. You can’t look at 4K content on my WiFi. So I went to Best Buy and explained my issue and the associate helped me out. He recommended the netgear Ethernet switch and it works very well. So well I will be purchasing a bigger one to do the whole house. This was a Best Buy for me.

I use this plugged into a router. No computer needed. I did however have to plug it into the computer to get it registered. After it was registered on line an option came up to use it plugged into a computer or plugged into a router. I picked router. Unplugged MJ from the PC then re installed to router and included power supply. Some times when I use it, I hear clicks, but they are tolerable considering how much money I am saving.

I guess there isn't much I can say here, other than it does what it should and is decently priced. Gigabit Ethernet switch technology has become mature for sure by now, so this one is really no different than the others. i just like the Netgear brand for networking equipment (most of their products, at least--there are some that I'm not fond of, but for wired networking, I generally get Netgear switches).

IT is what it says it is, a 5 port gigabit switch .. packaging was simple instructions easy to read and understand. setup in under a minute. simply un-box, plug in and connect devices. This is just an un-managed switch simply provides connectivity. IT will not provide ip addresses or provide security like firewall or application filtering it is just a dumb unmanned switch used to connect devices to one another.

This has been a great product, i thought because it was netgear it might have problems, but i will say i am impressed. It works great for me. II have cable modem 3 games systems, 3 dvr's, 2 laptops, 1 blueray player, and a home bridge for my wireless door locks that i have and it handles like a champ!!! Oh and a switch for the additional ports. Have not taken advantage of the usb function for storage, but plan to in the neat future.

This 5 port gigabit mini switch is perfect for my new home office. one port is used for the uplink, one port is used for a multi-function printer, one port is used for an voip phone, one port is used for my computer. I still have one port available. WIFI is not the way to go if your home is wired. My home is wired.

Bought this to hard line my entertainment so I can take load off my wireless. So far it’s working great and I don’t see any issues. With less stress on my wireless I’m hoping to reach better speeds and high frame rates in my streaming content both headlined and wireless.

Used to split a Ethernet cable between a 4k tv and a 4k bd player. Just plug the cables from the router to any input and route ethernet cables to the TV and bd player. Then plug in the power supply and it's done. Very bright leds on the front. Eventually had to hid the unit behind the tv stand, they were so bright at night. Keyhole in the unit, made it easy to mount with a very small panhead screws.

I found that ethernet switches tend to last for a year or so, and then fail. Thus it is with my most recent switch. Not wanting to wait for mail order, I picked this up off the shelf at Best Buy. It is work just fine over the past several weeks. I do not have the means to test throughput, however it appears to perform adequately. Endurance is yet to be determined. Happy so far.

I've been happy with the performance of this product since getting it. Very easy to set up and use and performance of my connected computer and Xbox One is great. One issue I ran into was connecting my network printer. For some reason computers on my home network don't recognize the printer. Not sure if this is an issue with the Switch or the printer. Could also be an error on my part.

When you need one, you need one. The only real choices you have to make are: Number of ports, speed, and whether you need "management" of the ports. Obviously, this little guy doesn't do management. It's the epitome of "plug & play". Just plug everything in get back to work with your new networked device added to your network (and isn't that why you bought this in the first place?

Excellent switch. It's been a while since I've invested in a switch, and before so, the switches I owned had an uplink port (the last port) that can be used for uplink when you press a button. This switch doesn't have that uplink port or button; any port now works to split the signal. For the price, performance, and name, it is hard to beat what's available on the shelf at a BestBuy store.
