I have a Blu-ray changer and a TV that both need internet connectivity. For years I have been using a router with a USB device but it died and they no longer make them. So I was seriously stuck. Then I bought this little guy. Inexpensive, simple beyond belief, and best of all- problem solved! If I had known these existed 5 years ago I would never have wasted all that money on that USB whateveritwas thing...

    Functional Ethernet Switch

The Netgear 5-port Ethernet switch is simple and functional. It is a great value for the money. There are only two things that would improve the product: 1. Make the power adapter a little less bulky. While the power supply isn't huge, it does take up two spots on a power strip 2. The top vents won't keep out dirt or moisture, this switch shouldn't be installed in a dirty environment.

All of my phone jacks are wired with Cat5. I wanted them to all be live for Ethernet. The modem that came with the internet service only had a couple of open ports. I bought this modem to expand the number of jacks so I could connect the other lines and make the jacks live for ethernet. It has worked well. It is small and light and easily fits in the homerun cabinet.

Upgraded my home network and replaced my 3 routers with the NetGear Gigabit routers. Immediately saw a boost in transfer rates over my old 10/100 Linksys routers, but also I no longer have dropped packets doing large transfers to/from my NAS. Quick and easy to use, just remove the old router and plug this one in. No partitioning or setup required. Streaming movies or video to my TVs is smooth and fast now.

I recently made the decision to turn off cable. I have a computer in my living room attached to a 70 inch Vizio smart tv. I purchased this product in addition to be able to network my TV, Computer, and Smart Blu-Ray player to the internet. It was strictly plug and play. I was up and running within minutes. The hardest part was running the 100 foot ethernet cable from my router to this switch.

Purchased the Netgear 5 port hub to support our new Sony 4k TV and Sony 4k Blue Ray player. The TV and Blue Ray has a number of network apps and allows for both Wireless Ethernet or RJ45 cable. I chose to run Ethernet cable due to the distance from my router. Network apps response for both devices are fast and has no lag even for 4K streamed movies for both TV and Blue Ray.

Needed to add a couple of ethernet ports to my home office which had 1 cat 5 drop from where router is located in center of house. Plugged in power, then then the cat5 ethernet cable. Then plugged in additional devices and they immediately connected to the internet. Nothing had to be changed in cable router setup. Could not have been easier to install. was truly plug and play for me.

I added this gigabit router at an entertainment center in my home. I connected Playstation, Apple TV, and an internet-capable home theater. What's amazing is I just plugged everything in and turned it on--worked like magic! Allows superfast downloads of movies and no-lag online gaming. Highly recommend this product for ease of use and capability.

Used to connect tv, sat receiver, and home theater system to home wired ethernet. No more dropping Netflix in middle of a movie. Just plug in cables, including your LAN, and add another plug to your power strip. Everything talks to each other and big load off your wifi. Can find a little cheaper on line if you want to wait.

Setting this up was a no brainer, added 4 more devices to my home network in less than 10 minutes! Speed is incredible becaue of the Gigabit ports, works fantastically with my Netgear wndr3700 router, no conflicts what so ever, I would buy this a hundred times more if necessary, so cheap and such a great quality!

I am kind of a home automation junkie so I have multiple hubs for the different connected things throughout my house. My router does not have many Ethernet ports so I needed to buy a switch to expand the number of ports. I've had this for over a month now and everything is still working fine. I looked around for cheaper options but this one was the cheapest I could find.

Needed a new switch to run one incoming Ethernet cable to two devices. Picked this one because I'd been told I needed a gigabit switch. I'm no network guru, so wasn't sure what to expect. No worries - plugged it in and everything worked just fine. So far, I've had no hiccups - both devices are on the network and humming along. Saved some $ by not having to get the outside IT pro involved.

I got this router to have a wired, as opposed to a wireless connection, to my two PCs, Play Station, and Xbox. Since I have connected it I haven't had any network connectivity issues. The router allows you to get the best speeds on your cable connection, is plug and play and sports a low profile look which is what I wanted. I would definitely recommend this product.

Built home with media center that is hardwired to 4 rooms to run ether cable to any computer in that room. Was advise my slow internet speeds even though have Comcast Blast (should be receiving +50 Down mbps and +12 Up but only 5-7 down and 2-3 up) and solution needed is 5-8 port gigabit ether switch. Decided on Netgear 5 port and WOW!! Now 90 mbps down and 12 UP.

This switch is decent enough for a small home network, but is missing a crucial feature. Other switches have LED indicator lights on the front to show which ports have good connections. This one doesn't. It may not seem like a big deal, but if you decide to plug another switch into this one, have fun identifying where a problem is occurring should a connectivity issue arise.

With my home network, I am limited on the number Ethernet ports I have in my router. This box quickly and easily added more ports for other smart home items I have purchased. I did not add any streaming items to this, so I cannot speak of how much it would slow things down. My smart home items work as effectively as they did before being through the switch.

This is a good ethernet switch and works as it is intended for such a device. Its main draw is that is supports Gigabit speeds, so you don't lose much information running through your ethernet cables. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because I believe it is an overpriced product, considering that it just only splits a signal and you can basically get routers today for less than $35.

This switch is great. I love how the power cord and ethernet cables all plug into the back so there is a clean look to the front. It is also very convenient that the switch automatically detects which slot has the input cable. I wish it were heavier—that is my only complaint. It works with no issues.

We purchased the Netgear Gigabit Switch along with the Netgear AC 1609 Dual Speed Gigabit Router to increase our network speed. We have multiple devices within our home that support the higher speed so we decided it was time to upgrade our network devices. Based on reviews and professional experience (I am in Technical Support) we decided Netgear offered us the best solution.

I needed this to attach to my wireless modem, as my pc kept dropping the internet connection directly to the modem. After bringing my pc back to Best Buy a few times, with them hooking it up and not dropping, finding out their Geek Squad uses switches at the front to test computers and that's what they had mine hooked into, purchased this switch and haven't had a drop since!
