It's cheap, it's fast and easy to use. You really can't go wrong at this price. I've bought the 8 port switch as well and they are both working flawlessly.

Small and discreet... I needed to add a bunch of cabled ethernet devices to my router, but my router did not have enough ports. Also, I would have had to string three more cables between my desk and the router 30 feet away. Simply pulling the ethernet out of my computer, and plugging it into this switch, then adding all the other cables needed for the original device (computer) and the three other devices... NOW I have all four devices wired saving my WiFi space for video traffic!!!

It is hard to get excited about a wired Ethernet switch in this age of WiFi, but if you need one, this is a good choice. I'm using it to connect my slightly older Blue-Ray player, game console, and not-so-smart HDTV to a cable modem for streaming video. This does the job very well. It was very easy to connect, has been rock solid dependable, and came at a good price point. Ethernet connection is one of those things you really don't think about on a daily basis. As long as it works, you ignore it, and I haven't had to pay attention to it, which is a good thing.

Our wireless modem is on the main floor but we have a home theater in the basement at the other end of the house unfortunately wireless is weak but we had the house wired for ethernet when we built it. I have one cat-6 line line in the media closet and used the switch to connect our Samsung smart tv, a computer that hosts our I-tunes accounts, Wii, Blu-Ray player and still have an open port for anything else we may want to wire in ... in the future.

I use this plug-and-play/no-software-setup gigabit port in the following way: 1) I have a Netgear AC1900 in my home office which is one corner of the house. 2) An ethernet cord in this router goes through wall, up through attic, down to another room in the house. 3) I have a Netgear AC1750 there to broadcast WiFi through second portion of house into backyard. 4) an Ethernet cable runs from the AC1750 to the Netgear 5-Port Gigabit where I have my Vizio TV, Onkyo 9.2 receiver, LG UHD disc, and a Roku 3 plugged in for direct streaming. This setup allows electronic/entertainment components to have a dedicated direct line for streaming reducing the traffic on my 5Ghz WiFi signals I use for my Roku Premiere Plus stick, tablets, phones, and TCL Roku TV in master bedroom where a direct ethernet line is not available. If you have the option to connect your streaming components to Ethernet, do it. I find they work much better, and this 5-port switch---which is basically a splitter--will help you in this! I did receive points to write this review; however, the receipt of points in no way affected my opinion of the product nor did I embellish anything about the review.

Purchased this and a Google Wifi to replace Comcast issued Router. Very easy to set up and configure. Google Wifi has only 1 outgoing ethernet port and this allowed me to connect 4 devices by ethernet (Printer, Network Drive, Desktop Computer, and Phillips Hue Hub). All devices were instantly recognized and added to my home network.

The first Gigabit switch I bought only a few years back cost $150, had a noisy fan since it got so hot, weighed two pounds, and broke after a year. Now here we are. For almost nothing you get this guy who weighs only a few ounces (I have it wall mounted in my basement), uses almost no power, and actually seems to perform BETTER than my old switch Since I have two networks in the house I’ll probably pick up another. Recommended.

I have two Western Digital NAS, a My Cloud and an older My Book World. My new Comcast gateway didn't come with enough ports to attach both of the back up drives to my home network. I plugged this switch into the gateway then connected the two backup drives and just like magic I could see both drives from both of my laptops with wireless network connections and my desktop which is hard wired to the network. So easy!

My router developed a finicky port, would start developing errors and dropping connectivity. The Netgear router was a great price and worked right off the bat with no configuration. Good purchase!
