Easiest way to add more ports to a room
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a room where wireless was sketchy so I ran a Cat 5e line from the main router to this room. Just plugged in cable to port 1 (you can use any port) and plugged in the PC and printer to the other ports and was on the network/internet at full speed. Great little box to maintain your connection.

Simple to install, works well
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for daughter to use in her dorm room. WiFI is not allowed in the dorm so she needed a way to connect multiple ethernet devices (computer, printer, "smart" Bluray player) without using WiFi. This ethernet switch fills the need with quick & easy installation and zero maintenance or monitoring required. Basically just plug in power and the various devices via CAT-5 cable (or equivalent) and the switch does the rest. She now has her own in-room network to connect everything together. I needed something quickly so didn't comparison shop. Netgear has a good reputation and I have other Netgear equipment at home so I just picked it quickly and paid the price. Doing a bit of research after the the fact I find there are equivalent products available for at least 25% less. With that said, Netgear does make good products that I've never had a problem with in the past.

Plug it in, hook it up, nothing else to do
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simple 5 port unmanaged 1000 k switch. Needed it to handle a location where only one lan port is available and a desktop and two printers are located. I also have the 8 port version of this switch at another location in the office. If what is needed is an inexpensive unmanaged switch, the 5 or 8 port versions of this switch should handle the job.

Ethernet switch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to use in my basement/family room to connect my media PC and Dish media box to a single Ethernet jack on the wall. Just connect the cables, power up the switch and everything just works. My home network currently only supports 100Mb, but this switch provides an upgrade path to 1Gb without requiring new hardware. The price was good too.

Good for Adding Ports To Your Router
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Due to circumstances beyond my control, I've been forced to convert most of my wireless network to wired. I ran out of ports on my router, and added this to get me more wired ports. It's simple enough to use. Just hook this up to a port on your router, connect the power, and you can add an additional 4 devices to your router. If you're running out of ports on your router, just get this and be done with it.

Great for multiple ethernet connections
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this to hard wire XBox 360 to my network and internet. Easy to install and just what I needed to resolve connection issues with the XBox, which was previously had a wireless connection. More ports than I needed because BestBuy didn't have the model with fewer ports, but it doesn't hurt to have extra ports for future use if needed.

||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Can't say anything bad about it. It has worked flawlessly - Plugged in and poof -additional access ports. Price was right. It looks nice and polished finished product unlike some others that are a bit more industrial looking. Compact and Useful
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It does what it's supposed to do. No set up is needed at all. Tucks away very easily. Just plug your incoming ethernet in any of the ports. Plug up to 4 outgoing lines. Done. This is perfect for those who have multiple consoles/PCs where latency is critical.

Very useful
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this as I needed more ports to connect all the cables to the back of my new modem I got from Comcast. The new modem didn’t have have enough ports on the back to run all of my equipment. The only problem I had was hooking it up as I needed another cable to connect it to the back of my modem and to the new NETGEAR. Otherwise there wasn’t any other way to use it. However, the salesman assured me that was all I needed. Not true! I’m glad I had an extra cable to make it work.

Really impressed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this switch for almost a year now and I am really impressed with how well it works. It does not do anything particularly special, but it definitely works as advertised. I have not had any issues at all with this thing and I am pretty happy with the purchase, considering it was only $17

great for adding more ethernet connections
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this at my local Best Buy after my Gateway media center went bad. My old one had 4 ether net ports but the new one that was installed by my cable company had only 2 port access. Found good reviews on line, and with this I was able to hook up all my ether net connections. Easy install and works perfectly
