My cable provider asked for the mac address (written on the back) for the modem. Typed some stuff in and waited for about 30 seconds and then my internet worked and has been working perfectly ever since. I stream games, movies and surf the internet with more than 4 devices between my wife and I and havn't had a single issue with it. If you dont want to rent from your service provider (6 bucks a month or something like that) then buy this. It pays for itself and will last a lot longer than the ones they rent to you.

Purchased this modem because I didn't want to rent one from Comcast. Comcast told me my other modem was too old and needed to get a new one. I would have purchased an all-in-one modem/router but I already had a separate router so just purchased the modem. This modem indicated on the box it would work with Comcast so that was a defining factor, as well. Price was good, too. Easy setup, no issues with installation. Was able to connect the new modem with Comcast online so did not have to deal with their customer service.

Purchased this Netgear modem since I had success with wireless routers and easy to use apps and interfaces. Sadly this product was faulty and caused the cable guy to be confused. After believing it was the ISP, I called up Netgear and they confirmed that the modem was faulty. So I replaced this with the exact same model and everything from Netgear and it has been working perfectly. This is the first product I've gotten from Netgear that was a bad apple, so right now they are still my go to supplier for computer equipment.

Replaced rental modem from cable company that increased 400% per month, will pay for itself in 5 months and works better! Only wish I did it long ago....get this and save!

My old cable modem stopped working and we didn't want to have to rent one from our cable company. This modem was easy to set up and gives us the internet speed we need.

It's hard to write a review about a modem. Either they work or they don't. This one provides everything our household needs. We stream to three PCs, two TVs, a Roku, two cell phones and four tablets and have no problems with speed. I know a lot of that is the router as well but even it can't work good without a good modem, which this one is.

I bought this to replace my old modem from time warner cable, and this one worked even better than the stock one i had!~ very fast and fluid! works wonders!

I bought this in April 2015 to replace a CM 100 to get the recent Time Warner Cable speed upgrades on their L.A. system. It is on their list of approved modems, so I bought this to save the monthly rental fee. TWC has a feature on their website that will allow you to update your modem, but it just doesn't work right (either for user OR TWC supplied modems). After a phone call to their "Customer Care" people, I was able to read them the MAC address of my old modem & the new one (on the box) and the rep manually updated TWC's database. It has been great ever since! This CM 400 modem has been flawless since installation, just like the CM100 I had for abut 3 years. Keep in mind that this is a modem only, and not a "combo" modem & WiFi unit. Since I already had a separate WiFi setup, I only needed the modem updated which is the cheaper & better way to go. This model supports all of the current (6/2015) TWC plans up to and including "Ultimate 100" (100 Mb/s). This should be fast enough for just about 99.9% of the user base. If you need more speed than that, it starts to get really expensive to go faster both in monthly bills and for faster equipment. As an example, I am running the 50 Mb/s speed, and we have an Apple TV upstairs, a BluRay/NetFlix downstairs, 2 college students at home, and a small home office setup for an IT consultant (me) with everything running happily 24/7. I would buy this again! It will pay for itself by Christmas.

easiest device i have ever set up. netgear has by far the best system to enable you to setup and control your modem. I caught it on sale for 44 bucks! i can't believe i paid the cable company ten bucks a month for a year. Get this modem, it's all you need. I use a seperate netgear wireless so if one breaks i only have to buy one. so better than combo units.

With recent cable providers' systems upgrades necessitating a more advanced modem, NETGEAR's product provides the greatest speed range at the best price.

Does everything I need it to do, easy set up good speed, just don't know how to turn it off without unplugging it.

Very easy to setup and reliable. Have not had any problems since using with Time Warner as the ISP.

I had been paying modem rental monthly. Decided to buy my own modem. Net gear is very easy to install and works like the speed of light.

Wanted to eliminate my TWC cable modern "rental" fee, and this product was the perfect fit functionally and economically. Very easy installation! Just make certain the product is compatible with your cable company, if your reason for purchase is as a replacement like mine was. The unit will be "paid for" in a few months and I will be saving from then on. You can spend more money but that wasn't necessary in my case!

Not much to say but installation was easy, configuration was easy and I'm getting the bandwidth that I pay for from my cable provider!

Got this to replace a old modem. Easy to set up. Noticed better speed out of the gate. It was on sale and they price matched Amazon.

We had to upgrade modems for faster internet. This modem works very well for what we need. It's compact and hasn't had any issues.
