Great wireless router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Switched from my previous Netgear router to this particular router and increased my wireless speeds instantly. It's an excellent fast router for gaming or streaming. I do both including wireless surveillance with no problem.

Fast wireless with fast wired support
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the box, this thing is stunning. A great compliment on any shelf. Set-up was what I expected, and pretty straight forward. I will admit that i did not *THOROUGHLY* read the start guide, which lead to a bit of a self-imposed frustration getting into the Web GUI, but once in, the Advanced tabs had all the things that i was accustomed to seeing and managing. That is... until i got to port forwarding. I use Chrome for just about everything. The basic options Netgear gives you is really short which requires you to set some new ones. NO PROBLEM, do it all the time... except when i entered the port number and route IP and click OK it tells me i need to use a number less than the port maximum (65,000 something) ...OK? 445 is less than that so what gives? Turns out Chrome is *NOT* the best browser to use for this (and other settings) as Safari allowed me to create new forwarding rules with no trouble. The LED lights on the front are great for identifying what speed each port is running at quickly. Amber for 10/100 and white for 1GigE but they are BRIGHT and you CANNOT dim them. You can tell the router not to blink and flash for traffic, or turn them off completely (which i guess if you knew they are running 10/100/1000 then big deal, turn them off) so if this is generally used in a dark room where people work, this could be a big distraction. Range is OK, not super fantastic but speeds take a big hit. Environment dependent so YMWV. Use range extenders if you need them, they are inexpensive and the WPS set-up on the router is rock solid. I didn't see where port teaming was available, and maybe it's not even a feature, but i wasn't able to test so maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. for a home network server, the added throughput of NIC teaming would be welcome. It does support jumbo frames so throughput can be tuned a little better. All in all it's working great, i have no complaints about it's day to day performance and would highly recommend it to just about anyone who wants fast networking throughput both wired and wireless.

Easy to use, great coverage
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced a Linksys e1000 with this great little unit. It was easy to install and setup. I like the parental control features and the ability to restrict websites for my kids' computer. I'm getting about 100' range outside my house which is just perfect to keep drive bys from trying to hack. I also like that I can hide the SSID so it doesn't broadcast. Something the e1000 doesn't allow you to do. Not the cheapest wifi router out there, but you do get what you pay for and these options are worth it!
