I opted to buy my ISP router from a third party (50% less than what the carrier charged). The warranty expired; and shortly after I started having problems getting multiple items to connect (router was failing to distribute IP addresses). I had to reboot the router every day: after 24 hours connections would fall out and fail to reestablish. I researched and found this to be a common failing for the router model. But my internet carrier wouldn't help since the router wasn't purchased from them.
I bought this and am so glad. I had to do some Googling about how to set my ISP router for Bridge mode, but it wasn't hard to find good instructions for that. I disabled the WiFi on that router so that it wouldn't try do give out multiple IPs and require a restart - as long as the only IP it was distributing was for the NETGEAR router everything was fine.
The NETGEAR router: the UI can seem a bit congested to work through, as some sections seem redundant/repetitive. But after spending a few minutes looking and clicking you can quickly commit it all to memory and find + tweak whatever settings you need with ease. Overall it took me about 15 minutes to get "Bridge" settings established between my ISP router and this one, to get the NETGEAR router online, and to set up my dual band WiFi settings.
The best part about this router is the signal strength/range. I live in a medium-sized apartment: it's older, with the walls between living room + kitchen + bedroom easily blocking signal. My routers are in the living room, and my bedroom is at the opposite end furthest away from them. I had a WiFi extender in use to strengthen the signal so it'd reach my bedroom; but even in that case the speed wasn't optimized and the signal could be lost occasionally. With the NETGEAR router my WiFi signal is powerful and the speed doesn't diminish when in my bedroom - signal + speed are as good in there as they are in the living room right in front of the routers. I hope that the quality of this NETGEAR router make it last for a good while - I've had zero issues and this thing has been great.

This is the second one I have installed. One replaced a G standard router. Needless to say the users were blown away by the speed of this router. The other user base was equally impressed by the performance. Setup is easy. Other routers have more bells and whistles, but you will pay for them.

My house is 1400 sq feet and my router is upstairs in my bedroom. I don't have cable but use an antenna for local stations and Roku. My living room tv I did not have any problems but did notice some laggimg and slow screen changes on my phone or tablet when my friend's son would be here playing his games. I converted my garage on the opposite side of the house from my router into a den. I bought a smart tv Thanksgiving and noticed that Netflix, Hulu, etc, was slower to load up or to scroll thru the menu. I read reviews on a few routers including this one. I keep my tvs on the faster speed router and now don't have any problems with my programs in the den. Also no problems when my friend's son hooks up his laptop to play his games now which makes us both happy! As soon as I pull into my driveway my phone picks up my wi-fi. Another plus was this was on sale when I got it!

Bought this to replace an old router and it has been running great! Internet doesn't lag and can put out more speed than the older router I used to have. With around 10 devices in my house connecting, it works perfectly.

The Wirecutter (https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-wi-fi-router/) listed this Netgear router as an excellent router for smaller spaces and it has performed flawlessly. I upgraded from an old but solid Linksys WRT54G router which was limiting me to 15 Mbps. Now I am able to get the speeds I am paying for with my cable internet provider.
The Netgear router was easy to set up and configure using the Netgear Genie program along for set up and security by using the WIFI Analytics Tool by Amped Wireless to find and optimize the channels with less interference from those who live near me.
Best Buy made purchasing this Netgear router easy and they price matched it to another competitor.

We recently changed internet companies and decided to buy our own modem and router. We have a lot of devices in our home that requires wireless internet such as Google home minis in two rooms, Amazon Alexa’s in every room including the basement and attic, three smart tv’s, security cameras inside and out as well as a surveillance system that records 24/7, a ring alarm system and many other things. It’s important that we have a great wireless internet connection for these items and our router allows us to have that. It was extremely easy to setup and I was setting up a modem and new internet at the exact same time. I’m definitely not good at hooking up new electronics but they make it extremely easy to do and walk you through it step-by-step. So far we have had no issues with this router and I would highly recommend it. It was also a good price for how well it works and we bought ours from Best Buy who can be a bit higher priced than other places. If you have a lot of devices then you can’t go wrong with this router. We are not gamers but it also says on the box it is great for gamers and since it works so well with everything else I’m inclined to believe it would be a great router if you are a gamer as well.

Great router w/essential features and options. But not the most reliable. Easy to set up and works well if within close range. Very fast! Similar speed to ethernet connection. Not very compact. Overall middle of the road in performance and features but works well for average users.

Bought this as replacement for modem/router combo that was provided by my cable company and the difference is like night and day. Where the previous device had significant issues with device management and quality of service, the R6400 has had none.
With a reasonably significant number of devices connect at any time (a family's worth of phones and tablets to go along with multiple computers, printers, AppleTV, Chomecast, XBox, Nest, IoT devices, etc...), the R6400 has not had an issue managing the devices, and we have not had the dropped connection issues that our previous router did. When connected to the 5 GHz Wifi network, the R6400 has provided speeds that are literally 10x greater than the old combo router (@ consistently above 150 Mbps). The range on the 5 Ghz network is good enough that I am able to maintain access in most of a smaller single family home. The (slower) 2.4 Ghz network coverage is able to reach every corner of the house at speeds that are still significantly faster than our old router.
The network setup is easy and quick. Netgear's interface for managing the router is solid and simple to use, while also incorporating several advanced features for power users. For novice users, the Netgear Genie App (iOS version) is simple to use and incorporates features such as a traffic monitor, the ability to connect devices via QR code and the option to turn off internet access to specific devices.
For a router in the midpoint price range, the R6400 should provide an excellent level of performance for most home users. If you have a higher speed of service from your internet provider or have a significant number of users/devices in your household, it is well worth spending a little extra to upgrade to the R6400.

I am extremely pleased after having this router for nearly two months. It was extremely easy to set up and the install took only minutes. I paired this with a new cable modem for my existing Comcast internet service and found my overall download and upload speeds increased significantly. Given the strength of reception, the signal has been able to afford me excellent internet speeds in the back of my house which I previously did not have. In fact, I have shut down my old nether gear wifi extender because it is no longer needed.

Recently purchased this router as the amount of WiFi connected devices in my home has increased over the past few years. We have at least 10 devices connected at the same time and it is able to accommodate all of them without compromising performance. I have it placed in the center of my home and it is able to reach both floors without dead spots. I can even get signal outside the house! The router is a bit large and the lights can be bright, but neither of those are anything to really complain about.
Highly recommended!

After installing the router, I went to the login page to set it up. Unfortunately, for some reason, I wasn't able to access the login page until the next day. Once being able to access it, the router was a breeze setting up. I love the fact that it came with a pre-programmed password. I have five devices using its WiFi and it hasn't bogged down at all. My house is slightly over 1100 square feet and I get great coverage everywhere. I even get coverage outside which is nice. I haven't taken full advantage of all that the router has to offer, like parental controls, but for my needs it's working great.

I live in a apartment complex and my unit is 950 SqFt. The Netgear AC 1750 covers all of the apartment and extends coverage to our patio and just outdoors into the common areas. The speeds are relatively consistent with little to no drops in connectivity.
The user interface of the web UI for the router is lacking, bust most of the functionality is there. I am able to set custom DNS entries for both IPv4 and IPv6. IPv6 works like a charm with stateless configuration setup on the router.
The router has a handful of devices connected to it both wired and wirelessly ranging from two laptops, two iPhones, a LG OLED tv, a brother laser printer, two desktops, and a Nintendo Switch game console.
Overall, I would consider this the best 'bang for the buck' budget router that checks off most of the boxes: 5Ghz, selectable channels, IPv6 support, Custom DNS, etc. I would recommend this router to anyone looking for a decently priced router that performs great. It only lost 1 star due to how cludgy the web interface looks.

I was generally looking for routers that can handle multiple devices. I am used to having the regular routers that you can get from the internet company. I wanted to try something new and affordable. I came across the AC1750. At first I was hesitant but I gave it a shot. For some reason, it was hard to connect the router to the modem but I think it was just me. After I set it up, I was really amazed by how fast all of my devices and my whole family's devices function even when there's a lot connected to it and being used all at the same time. I also like the range of the wifi. I live in a large house. The router is on one side of the house and I still have fast internet when I'm on the other side of the house. So far I haven't had any problems with it. Also, I really like how the features in the app on my phone especially the feature that allows me to turn on/off the wifi on specific devices. If the kids act up or are being punished, I just pull out my phone and turn off their tablet's wifi without having to take their ipad and manually disconnect it. It's amazing.

After having trouble with our internet and multiple calls to provider, we decided as a last resort to purchase this router. We had just purchased a cheaper one about 6 month's earlier so hated to buy yet another router, but boy do I wish we would have just bought the netgear in the first place. It truly is an amazing product. It has a really good price as well, worth every penny. We have well over 15 devices running off our network and our netgear has no problem keeping up! Trust me, skip the hassle of all other products and go with the netgear 1st! Great bang for your buck! Thanks for a great product!

I have purchased a total of three of these -- 2 for offices and 1 for home, and love them all. Very simple to set up and use, no problems with anything so far. Good range, Great single strength and all the important things. Only down side is (sadly) the lights on this are SO BRIGHT that there is no such thing as a dark room when you have this puppy hooked up.

I have a modem from Charter. My old Linksys G router did not allow more than 30 megabit speed and finally died. I hooked up the new router and was at 66 speed. I connected my Windows 7 Desktop to a wired port and my Laptop to wifi with no problem. Then I connected the smart LG TV, tablet and two smart phones and all went well. I get a good signal on both the regular and 5g speeds throughout the entire home. The free Genie app is great for seeing what devices are connected at any time. Buying a more expensive router would not have given me any better performance as far as I can tell.
