I purchased this unit and had a great deal of trouble setting it up. Vague instructions accompanied the item. Finally after calling customer support it was working. I tested with an internet speed tester and was pleased with the results. However, in use, the unit would hang up on me. Specifically the ethernet ports. I was able to access the net but frequently encountered either of two messages indicating no internet access. So i assumed the unit to be defective and returned it for a like replacement. Setup went quicker but the problem persisted. I still get one of two messages indicating no internet access. Sometime the message would disappear quickly and most of the time it would just hang there. After calling customer support again and spending at least an hour and a half with them they decided something must be wrong at my internet connection. So i contacted my ISP and lo and behold my internet connection is good. When it works it works well but many times during a session i get these annoying messages. I tried a different browser with the same results. Netgear said this is a very popular and reliable unit but you can't tell that from my experience. Don't know what the problem is but something is wrong. Also, since getting this unit i have to enter my email username and password each time i sign in to email. Even when the stay signed in box is checked.

So in my previous review I had talked about using the USB Storage share port on this router. So i tried setting this up on my own and it would recognize the drive but would not access it. I had to call the Netgear tech support since I was less than 90 days after purchase I still had free access. Well that is the reason why I have reduced my rating from 5 stars to 2 stars. The equipment still works well but the tech support is probably the worst tech support I have ever experienced. After 3 phone calls and all 3 times getting hung up on and no call back I finally figured out what the problem was myself. With windows 10 you have to have your Windows Homegroup set up and active on a "home network". I actually just kinda stumbled across this. I would never have known to do this but anyway the Tech Support for NetGear is HORRIBLE! Not only did they not help me but they were foreign and I could hardly understand them which was also very frustrating. If you are buying this router and you think you might need help setting it up don't buy from NetGear and expect to get the help you need. You will get very frustrated and even upset when you don't get it.

    Cuts 2.4ghz Speed in half

I bought this Netgear to replace my old Linksys E2000 which still works great, but the range could be better. I noticed this Netgear drops my bandwidth literally in half when connected to the 2.4ghz, even standing 3 feet away from the router.. I tried channels 1, 6 & 11.. same thing... used different devices and they all do the same thing... cuts speed in half. I get 12-14 Mbps down instead of the normal 23-25 Mpbs I get when connected to the old Linksys E2000. The 5ghz works good though, no issues with that...but not all my devices are capable of 5ghz so I need the 2.4 to work well. I read so many reviews online about others complaining about the slow 2.4 wifi, but I decided to try it for myself.... I live in the country so I have no issues with interference as my neighbors are very far away and there are only 2 other wifi signals in my area which have very poor signal. I fooled around with the settings trying out different channels.. nothing worked...as soon as I turned ON and plugged my old Linksys back up... I got fast 2.4 wifi again... so this Netgear will be going back to the store.

I have owned this router for a number of months at this point, and my goodness, I'm am infuriated. Let me note, when it was functional and working properly, this router was 4.5 Star worthy. However, after their firmware debacle that left it open to remote hackers (Google that), and factory resetting it to account for that issue, it has been nothing but a giant headache. This review is coming after a few months of the old off/on treatment ever few weeks, when today, 1/5/19, even with the internet signal light illuminated, both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz lights are off. Tried the off/on 3 times to no avail. I am sure there is a fix, but I frankly don't care. This was a near 5 Star product as I said until all of these issues arose, and at the price point I paid, thinking this would be a quality router that would last more than a year, I am very, very disappointed.

This was recommended over the more expensive 1900. I could not get this unit to work correctly. Upon returning it to BestBuy - it was stated there had been others who had similar issues when using with my internet providers modem (Spectrum). I was told to just exchange and buy the more expensive 1900. The 1900 works flawless. My only complaint is the 1900 was not on sale when I made the exchange - but it was when i was told to just buy the 1900. BestBuy would not honor the previous week's sale price - but in the end I am glad I stayed with a NETGEAR product.

With all the devises I currently run in the house, The old router wasn't able to support 5 devises. I have 2 TV'S, an echo, a kindle fire, and a computer. After talking to the tech support from my server, he recommended the nighthawk or net gear. The floor associate at best buy said the net gear 93 was more than enough. After hooking it up with a few set backs, I got it working. I noticed right away that the router was slow in loading pages. I have 150 mb's. My old router loaded instantly [Linksys.] Now I constantly get messages saying connection lost. I have a very small house...this should never happen. Clearly I needed something bigger. While it does work, it's just slow. Can't say I will ever buy one of these again.

    Nice router, terrible parental controls

The router portion itself appears to function as advertised. However, the main reason I bought this router was for the parental controls. The parental controls function so poorly, that (at least on the router that was in my box) whenever the parental controls are turned on, without any restrictions being put on the controls, just enabled, the router turns off all internet traffic. After many attempts at getting a different outcome, several hours later I have come no further in my effort to at least turn them on and having them work at all. With a pretty long history of building computers and dealing with networking for the last 20+ years, I am very disappointed that it is so difficult to make this feature work.

    Too short-lived, ReadyShare intermittent

I've used Netgeare routers, switches, and hubs for years. This one, however, was a dud. The EtherNet ports worked perfectly, but the radios (both bands) would bog WAY down, often to speeds reminiscent of the dialup days. Updating the firmware didn't do a thing, and the problem was random. ReadyShare was not at all consistent; it would not stay on line consistently. (Full disclosure: it doesn't work on another Netgear router I have,so it seems to be a problem in general, not unique to the AC1750 under review.) I recently just tossed this thing in the trash, dusted off an old R6300, and my network is running perfectly.

    JUNK

    Nope

Not sure why all the good reviews. I have Time Warner 100 mbps internet. After six months with this routert was putting out 9 mbps over 5ghz AC wifi two feet from the unit. 2.4ghz was giving 6 mbps. If I hard wire into my Time Warner moden, I get 118 mbps. Yes I restarted everything several times. For the price, this modem should last for YEARS! Not MONTHS! Now I can't get my money back from BestBuy. I am out $130 bucks and stuck licking my wounds and buying a new router from a different brand! Thank GOD I didn't get the Nighthawk because then I would be out even more money. This router isn't worth 20 f*cking bucks.

    bad product bad return policy

wifi connection regularly dropped off at 10 feet. After several weeks trying to resolve with netgear they decided product was defective. Netgear will replace if I pay shipping and can wait 2 weeks. Otherwise they charge $50 to overnight a replacement. Best Buy wouldn't help at all because it is past 15 days. This $95 router is costing significantly more than I bargained for in time and money. I should have bought at Costco. Other than the product was ultimately defective, it did have nice features.

Router is good, but interface controls limited

    Posted
    LFGreen

I like the router by itself very much. Very fast and easy to connect. I was mainly very disappointed in the interface, particularly the parental controls. I needed controls that I could set up to limit certain domains at certain times and days. The parental controls only allow you to manage groups and only times of the day, but you cannot set it up differently for weekend days and weekday days. Because of the interface, I would not recommend this product to someone who needs to control the router through the interface.

Nothing wrong with the hard wear but when i went to activate this modem/router I could not find any information on how to contact a live person for the online chat, and there was no phone number on the numerous sites i went on, finally on a forum someone posted their phone number. I had to call repeatedly, long story short i returned both items i bought because i don't have a computer to directly connect to the Modem/router i bought.

Still having network problems. Not sure if this router is the problem though. Netgear tech support wasn't any help; they were mostly interested in selling me an expensive extended tech support plan. And the person I spoke with had such a foreign accent, it was very hard to even understand her....except for the part they wanted a lot more money....VERY pushy about it too! I declined to pay more for an already very expensive router.

I purchased this without reading reviews. I took the salesman word on how great it is and easy setup. Well the setup was totally confusing. The instructions given in the box were not correct. I spent at least 3 hours setting it up with an hour of that talking with customer service. Once it was installed it does not work that much better than the free router I received from my internet carrier. I regret purchasing this item.

I bought this router so I could play online games without getting a strict NAT type. The problem is that I have 2 systems I was playing online at the same time and this particular router wouldn't allow me to do that. NEVER call their support department either. Some fool that didn't even speak English wanted to charge me $130 to set up their router I had just paid $170 for. Complete waste of time and money.

I bought this router thinking I will have a fast internet connection. My internet provider is 1 Gb and when I used this router using the Ethernet cable it dropped to 400 mbps. I called the netgear customer service and they said it was a defect from the router. I returned the router and ended up getting a different one.

I had to pay Best Buy, after I had bought the router, to come out to my house and install it, even after my best efforts. I was a computer programmer for 40 years but I couldn't get it to install. Once I put it online, I couldn't get to any of the web helps, because I couldn't get to the web anymore.

Easy to set up/install although I don't see any significant increase in either reception distance around house or in upload/download speed. I'l admit that I may have not done everything that might improve these concerns....but then that would suggest that the setup/install is not as easy as if appears.

I bought this to replace an older single band router that had a weak signal. I was better off with the old one, at least it didn't drop the signal every ten minutes. And my speed is worse than it was before. I pay for 100 mps and average about 45 mps with every speed test. Pretty sure this is going to go back soon.

I can't believe I wasted money on this router. It had decent reviews and I've owned Netgear routes in the past with little to no issues. Every device that gets used has a difficult time staying connected. Wifi is turned on, shows strongest signal possible yet nothing will load. The Netgear Genie app is kind of a joke too.
