Easy plug n' use on Windows 10!

My situation for getting this product is a little different than others. My Surface Book 2, when I close the lid and use it as a desktop PC, the internet is nonexistent so I decided to use an old Netgear USB mini and it did the job, but it was an old product and it was giving me trouble. I was skeptical about this product at first because I've read some bad reviews regarding its bad connection with Windows 10. I just plugged it, installed the driver directly from the Netgear website (no use for the cd on my case) and I immediately got internet access on a recently updated Windows 10 [version 1903] laptop. This update was approximately 6 days ago. The internet bars are full and to make a very specific test, I went to the Funimation website and selected a movie (that they stream) and played a 1080p movie (that before it looked more like 720p, and was ALWAYS buffering). The movie started perfectly! No hiccups, no loading time, no low bandwidth and no crazy buffering! I even went back and forth on scenes and again, no low bandwidth. The USB itself looks sturdy and the WPS button on the side is easy to push (you can hear a click). Unlike the older model, its a tad bigger (pic added) but for me, that's not a critical issue. Overall, a good product and Wi-Fi problem solved in minutes.

I use this item for my desktop PC. As it is impractical to run an Ethernet cable from the PC's location to the router, I went this route and got this item. It works ok. My speed is slow, but considering the environment the product is in, I am not docking it for the performance. One reason I am giving it a high rating is that it is compatible with N networks, which is what I have. This is a product designed for AC networks, but it is backwards compatible with N networks as well. That was the selling point for me. There are also a few walls and obstacles between the adapter and the router, so I am not too surprised at the slow PC Internet performance. All in all, I recommend this product. The installation is quite easy to follow (make sure you follow it! Taking a shortcut will be trouble), and I expect that the performance will be top notch if the product is used to its full potential.

Does exactly what you’d expect for the cost.

I normally only build a PC for Ethernet connection and if it’s for WiFi I’ll use a motherboard that has the option, but I had an older PC laying around and decided to throw a few spare parts in it for the kids. Instead of running new cable to a new room I simply bought this, installed the drivers, and it works like a champ. Physical connection will get me about 200-215mb/s and on 5ghz about 30 ft and two walls away from the router it speed tests around 180-190mb/s so I can’t complain! No downtime, if it’s plugged in it works. The only downside I could see is if someone didn’t have a physical connection and also didn’t have a disc drive, it would be hard to get the drivers to really get it going.

tl;dr it's fine but it's not the best. Get an internal PCIe card instead if that's an option. I used this in my 1st Gen i7 desktop for several months and it functioned, but it wasn't very good. I was about 12 feet from the wireless router (which was fairly new and a Netgear nighthawk) and connection wouldn't drop (windows didn't show a drop), but would seem to "stop responding" periodically and speeds weren't very good the rest of the time. I think it may have been an issue with USB, because I ended up getting an internal PCIe WiFi card and never had the issue again. Bottom line, it's fine but ymmv

Purchased to improve Wi-Fi connectivity issues

Last year, I purchased an HP laptop and was constantly having problems with the computer dropping connection from my Wi-fi, even when I was within 5 feet of router. Even tried a Wi-Fi range extender, which still didn't help much. I bought this Netgear wireless adapter as a replacement for the built-in Wi-Fi adapter, having tried everything else. Installation was a breeze, and connectivity has improved dramatically...not one dropped connection, even from over 30 feet from the router. Also, the speed has really improved. Highly recommended.

I have a laptop that couldn't pick up the 5 WiFi because of how old it was. I researched for a long time trying to see if I could bypass its limited frequency pickup to get a better connection and I came up with reviews about this item. Many people were using it to allow wireless internet access to computers that didn't have it built in or something. Long story short, I easily installed this item into the laptop (this product comes with a CD install BUT it does offer a way to install in case your laptop doesn't come with a CD Drive) and now I can use both the 2.4 & 5 WiFi. I definitely recommend this item.

When I first received this product, it installed. Later it seemed to be acting up. At one point it quit working. I was unable to figure it out, tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Couldn't find problem on Netgear web site and when I called for warranty/replacement/technical assistance, was told day 90 of phone support doesn't count as part of the 90 days they offer and they tried to sell me some kind of support policy. Not especially happy with the way they run their call center either.

I moved to a new house that didn't have ethernet lines run in one room which just happened to be the room my temporary office is in. This device allowed me to connect my PC to our wifi, so I didn't need to go under the house, run a new CAT5/6, and add the wall jack for it. There's never any lag, and it's never dropped connection. For something so small, it's incredibly dependable and useful.

Great little dongle for the $$$

I recently had to move into a new apartment and unfortuantely could not hard-wire my gaming PC to my router anymore. Although I would never recommend wireless over a wired connection to your internet box, this little dongle is a great alternative. I game pretty regularly (I live by myself with a 100 mbps internet package) and have never had an issue with lag or download speeds. Defintely worth the purchase!

So this is about the size of a half-dollar at best. Very small, and is a great option to add to any computer that doesn't have wifi, or needs to upgrade to higher and better wifi bands. The included software will control everything for you, or you can use built in WiFi connectivity in Windows Only downside, is that you can hit it easily on a laptop, so be careful that you don't hit it or lose it.

Moved an older computer to my husbands office where we did not have internet access. This little miracle worker plugs in, was easy to set up, and just like that, we have internet access (obviously we have wifi in the house). It was quick and easy and works great. Have had it just over a month and no issues. Much easier and less costly solution than having to run a hard wire down the wall and across the room. Great technology.

After reading a few reviews and having some BB Reward $$, I thought this would be a good way to hook up an old PC to the internet. The new location needed wireless and this old XP running PC needed an adapter. This one was consistent. Once I loaded the drivers it would work once, then never again. Spent just enough time on it to make the decision to return it. Got a different brand and works every time.

I am a NetGear user of about 10 years and, when my last NetGear WNDA 3100v.3 wireless adapter finally died, I opted for a new NetGear AC600 wireless and it has performed up to par with my other NetGear wireless. In fact, it streams better than the old adapter and I have little or no interruptions watching movies now.

Bought a refurbished laptop with no wi-fi capabilities. I was familiar with this situation because I had purchased my first flat screen TV with the same issue years ago. I knew I needed a wi-fi adapter so I went to the store that has everything electronic and got just what I needed the first time out. It was perfectly satisfying.

Good plug-n-go WiFi adapter for the price, boosts download speeds most of the time. Main complaint is download speeds slow down, even with the adapter, plastic back end of the adapter is constructed in such a manner that two USB ports are taken up. Would recommend however for someone looking for a more reliable WiFi connection.

Works as designed, no connection issues, reliable. The driver takes a minute to load and negotiate, but stays connected. It only requires USB 2, and I'm using it on Win 7. If you want a cost effective wireless solution without the need for a dongle this will more than suffice.

I only got this because they didnt hsve pci e cards it was 30ish which is what I was looking to pay for a pci e card. PC is in the next room and gets half the signal or less below 30mbs . I decided to get the card I wanted and it works great 70 to even 100 mbs. Dont go USB even if it's a budget. I'm returning this.

Bought this because it is compatible with both Windows 10 and Ubuntu (I use both operating systems), but Ubuntu 19.04 required the installation of the rtl8812au-dkms package, and a reboot. There are few Linux-compatible devices, it seems. Finding this one has been a pleasant experience.

My son uses this adapter for his CyperPower pc which doesn’t have built-in WiFi. Works much better than the TP-Link adapter that was included with the purchase. We had issues with the TP-Link, so we bought another (which also had connectivity issues). We decided to choose a different brand this time... no issues with this one...

Plug & play! Had no issues with it. Unfortunately the computer I bought it for I had just recently purchased and had other big issues, I returned that to Amazon & and bought a better one at Best Buy. They happily took back the wireless adapter. I love Best Buy and should of gotten the computer there originally!!
