This ADSL modem is a great modem for anyone using basic DSL who needs one as either a replacement or if you have a service but wanted a cheaper modem. At first glance, the UI may seem intimidating with all the menu items to look through, but it really isn't that bad. All you need to use is one or two menus to put in your user info and 2-3 settings for this modem to communicate with your ISP provider, i.e. AT&T, CenturyLink, Earthlink, etc. Note that I am a somewhat of an advanced user, so I know my way around the modem's UI. If you have more than one computer and don't have a router (your modem is already set to work with virtually all routers), I do recommend TP-Link, D-Link, Linksys (I have used all of these brands) and Netgear (a lot of people have recommended this brand, too) with dual-band, especially if you watch streaming movies and/or game, a lot.

This was my first purchase of a modem for use in my home. I gave it a 4 star rating because it is still fairly new and time will tell how it lasts. The item was easy to install and worked right away to connect with my wireless set-up.

Better than the cheap modem the phone company gives you. I haven't had a problem with mine yet, but it's new. The cheap thing from the phone company lasted about 2 months then I started having drop outs. No drop outs yet.

My wifi had stopped working. After some trouble shooting with the net gear tech support over my old modem from century link it was determined I needed a new one. Ran out to Best Buy and bought this one. Net Gear wanted to charge me 89.99 for tech support subscription to help me set up the new one. Didn't want to pay that so I called century link and got help for free since that's who I use for internet service. They gave me the codes that I needed in order to set up new modem. Net gear wouldn't have known those codes anyway. It's compact and looks nice and very easy to setup! Have had no problems whatsoever and it'll probably last several years. Net gear is a great product!

Needed to replace our ATT modem that was not working. ATT repair person determined ours was not working and could install new one for $99. 00 or we could purchase our own. For half the price purchased this one. It was easy to set up. Works good.

This unit replaced a DSL modem originally supplied by Quest (now CenturyLink) a few years ago that had failed. Worked great when connected directly to my computer, but had some trouble getting it to function through my Linksys WiFi Router. Eventually I was able to figure out how to configure the router on my own.

Works great, easy to set up. Be aware that it will not work with the cirrent higher speed dsl from centurylink...even the tech support is not aware of this, but the field techs are...get the newer model instead.

This modem is far superior than the 3 we have bought through AT&T. It was easy to set up and tech support was very good. We are not on fiber optic lines so our speed has always been bad but this modem seems to have improved that too. Will be sticking with Netgear.

This is my 2nd Netgear Modem from Best Buy. The first one lasted about 3 years before it gave up the ghost. It happens to be the only modem of this kind that I've found at Best Buy. I found the settup instructions a little confusing, so I called Netgear for their help. I'm afraid that after at least 2.5 hours on the phone with the technician and bringing in my service provider to the conversation, we were unable to make it work. Before I packed it up to return, I tried once again on my own. I had learned quite a bit about this modem in the process and tried it again on my own. It worked, but no thanks to Netgear's technical help. I think the modem is fine however and I would recommend it.

The modem is small, attractive and can be positioned flat or vertical. The installation was straight forward and would have been very easy with one exception - Netgear requires the modem to initially be connected to a computer via ethernet cable to set it up. We have Apple's that don't have an ethernet port; thank goodness I hung on to that old Compaq Presario.

I appreciated the tech. help I got from Netgear. It was better than my internet provider. Their answer to my problem was to sign up for their television package, I declined and took a chance and purchased a new moden, it worked.

It's seems to be an ok modem and although it says it works with CenturyLink, it will not auto-configure and CenturyLink will not assist with setup.

TDS service, works fine. Tech told me that VDSL would have given me an extra 4MBs of speed, ADSL+ only goes to 24MBs or so, and our "25MBs" service is really 28MBs. So far no one but actiontec makes a VDSL modem, and every one of those I have had is junk and had problems. This is just fine

It is a DSL modem that works with Verizon. I used it to replace a verizon supplied modem that quit working. This unit was easy to setup and allowed them to connect at the full speed available in the area for DSL (an embarrassingly slow 3mpbs). If you need a DSL modem and don't want to get one from verizon, this unit works fine. Although you would be much better off just switching to cable and getting "high speed" internet that is actually fast.

Router works as well expensive routers but it requires rebooting more often. If you can live without the internet for a few seconds and you like to save a buck, this is the router for you.
