Its about average. The range is ok. Number of devices that this device supports is good. Currently I have somewhere between 15-20.

The pits. Over two hours on helpline and it would not communicate with new arris modem. Returned everything and got new Motorola combined modem/router at Best Buy. Never buy separately, get combined router modem, less hassle. Motorola unit works great

Garbage, worst app support. Returned right away. No interconnectivity with Netgear Extender. App requires multiple setups and locked me out completely from the router. I read to reset the device and start over and the reset button didn’t actually reset the device to factory settings after holding for 7 seconds. Tried everything. Wasted so much time. No instruction manual. Was working for 5min until I tried connecting extender and when that didn’t work couldn’t reset device. Total garbage. Buyer beware.

This router was a true horror story for me. ISP couldn't figure out why my internet signal was horrible. It would drop consistently. Sometimes for 10 minutes, and sometimes for hours. After 5 visits from my ISP's tech's, with no resolution, Figured that it had to be the router. I bought the AC1900, and everything has been fine since. Now, what to do with my expensive paperweight (AX1800).

Unimpressed and Disappointed. After 4 months the 5Ghz channel has stopped working. When I tried NetGear technical support, they told me I had to purchase more support time because my support expired 90 days from purchase. They didn't want to hear that it's a hardward problem or honor any sort of manufacture's warranty for a replacement device.

We purchased this router and it kept dropping our service. It took a few phone calls to figure out that this router was not adequate for our 1000 sq ft house. We wound up replacing this item after a few months

    Required Netgear App repeatedly crashes

The Netgear App is required to set up and manage all of your devices. We couldn't get the WIFI to work. The app repeatedly crashed and wouldn't connect to the router. The router worked great for wired connections, but because the app wouldn't work we couldn't manage the devices or make sure our connections were secure. (There is suppose to be an optional web interface, but the links went around in circles and never gave a web browser option.)
