    Great Modem, Router needs tweaking

1 ) Your firmware has to be updated thru your ISP, however TWC will not push the firmware upgrade to you because it is YOUR modem and not the one they provide! 2) The modem is giving me 35 to 38 mbps download speeds, which is higher than my 30 mpbs plan. The upload speeds are very inconsistent. 3) My Samsung Galaxy S5 has wifi upload issues (only with this unit), always sayings it's connected but it just spins and doesn't upload, never fully connects which makes it hard to stream anything or even watch videos or look at pics. The iphone 5s has no problems with the wifi. 4) Netgear sent me a replacement unit, and I am still having the same issues with the wifi. I have been going back and forth with Netgear and TWC trying to resolve this, constantly having to change the channel to get the wif to work properly. My 9 year D-Link router worked better than this router. 5) I have my modem/router properly placed and on the main floor and the only time the wifi works as it should is when you're in the same room, and that applies to both the 2.4Ghz and the 5.0Ghz. Overall, this purchase was a huge mistake, it's been 3 months and it is too late to get a refund. I would not recommend this unit if you are a TWC customer. Spend the $200 and get a separate modem and router. The combo unit is flawed and I feel the router will break before the modem and I will have to replace both because it is a combo unit.

This router worked great for 6 months. I began having connectivity and speed issues at that time. I called my internet provider who came to my house and determined the issue was not a provider issue, but it was a problem with the router itself. They suggested I call Netgear, since the router has a 1 year warranty. In the mean time I rented the latest and greatest router from my internet provider. It works better than the Netgear ever worked. Upon calling Netgear I was told that my router definitely had a software issue which they could immediately fix remotely for $100. The Netgear warranty DOES NOT cover software issues which apparently developed sometime during the first 6 months of use. IT seems odd that my old router or the cable company router DID NOT have software issues like the Netgear router developed during the covered warranty period. Buyers beware. Netgear warranty does not cover softwear issues!

I was looking for a 16 channel DS DOCSIS 3 modem & it was between this & the Arris modem. I chose this because the Wi-Fi options built in to this are a great deal. The problem is that after 1-2 days, the device decides to randomly reset itself. Sometimes once, sometimes up to 3 in a row, leaving the house without internet for 10+ minutes. This is a common issue with the device I've discovered after doing some more research. It's been happening on TWC for a few months & the Cox users in my area are seeing the same issue. Signal strengths are all in the good range & all 16 channels lock as they're supposed to. Another fun tidbit - there is no way for the owner of the device to do a firmware update. Per the Netgear website, the ISP must push the updates to your device. I have a firmware number not even listed on Netgear's site & still can't stay connected more than 8 hours at a time. Stay away until Netgear corrects their connection problems.

DO NOT BUY, COMPLETE JUNK + WASTE OF $

I bought this 9 months ago and I wish I hadn't. For a while it kept dropping our devices, and we'd have to reconnect which was a pain. Moving it to the floor helped. About 2 weeks ago, the modem in the device stopped working. My devices would be connected to the router, but we couldn't get internet. The comcast techs came out and determined it was our modem -- the generic comcast modem/router worked fine. I tried to take it back to best buy, but they directed me to Netgear. Long story short, Netgear Support claims that because some of the lights are on (the internet + download lights are off), it's "not defective" it just needs "technical support" which they can give me if I pay $129. If I don't pay $129, they won't take it back and I can't return it. I'm going to buy another product. Also, I live in triple-decker, and the signal barely reached the back deck so i have no idea why they say this is good for a small house.

This router provide me with blazing fast wired Internet speeds. Speed test showed my wired Internet speed to be many times above the tier that I am paying for. I was able to get the wireless to work only in the room where the device was located. In adjacent rooms I had no wifi signal. In a room downstairs I had intermittent wifi signal - the wifi adapter would connect , be stable for a short time and then disconnect. I bought this to replace a Comcast supplied gateway and it does not do the job - I need a reliable wifi signal in a larger area. If i only relied on a wired connection I would have no problems, but that would be using only half of the functionality promised by this device. I have tried adjusting the settings on multiple desktops and laptops to no avail. I have an app on my phone that shows wifi access points and sometimes it shows the wifi connections to this device and sometimes it doesn't. I find that this device produces an unreliable wireless signal and will be returning it .

I bought this and brought it home to set up with Comcast Xfinity high-speed internet. No luck. Comcast told me to talk to Netgear. Netgear customer service was extremely complicated to get a hold of someone. The representative told me I had a faulty unit. I returned it and got another one. Still didn't work. The wired connection would typically work, but the Wi-Fi would only work for a few minutes, then require a reset to bring it back up. Through multiple calls with Comcast and Netgear, I was eventually told that the firmware on the device is not compatible with Comcast. Netgear's customer service said that the firmware would have to be updated by Comcast. Comcast had no idea what they were talking about. Netgear's customer service was pretty awful, and considering the packaging on this product specifically says that it's compatible with Comcast, I can't imagine I'll be purchasing a Netgear product again any time soon. This was a huge waste of time.

I have Xfinity internet plan that “supposedly” goes up to 250mbps. I’ve always used the modem/router they provided. I have NEVER had a speed test download anywhere near 200! Lucky days, maybe 100. And Yes, I test hard wired in. I always had problems which required me having to reboot that stupid thing multiple times a month and I was at their store swapping them out more than I should have been. Andddd I was paying $11 a month for the headache (their rental fee). I finally decided to buy my own. This new router is FANTASTIC! I have speed test showing high as 300mbps download! Every test is consistently what I’m paying for or BETTER!I love the phone Genie app and the network share. The only thing that bothers me is I didn’t make the switch sooner! We were finally able to switch (with confidence) to be total streaming household. We use Xfinity for internet. DirectTv NOW, Netflix and Amazon prime for TV. This router was a GREAT investment.

Never attempted to use this item. We just moved to a new state and had planned to have our own modem rather than rent from our service provider. As it turns out, we had to go with an entirely different company than we originally scheduled installation with and could not use this device. I went to return the item - never opened - with the original receipt - and was informed at that time that the item could not be returned other than for in store credit. It had only been 15 days from the date of purchase! And I had my receipt! I stood there reading my reciept and it stated that "some items" are not accepted for returns, but nowhere did it say this applied to this modem. Best Buy should have mentioned this at the point of sale so I could have made the decision to return the item sooner. I can see a set time limit, many stores are 30 or 60 days, and even if it had been without my receipt I could understand, but 2 weeks on major tech devices...tech does not change that quickly.

Work great for 300Mb Internet with TimeWarner

Although my previous motorola modem supports 300Mb+ internet speed, we never experienced that speed from a physical wire connection or over wireless, even though we had the Ultimate 300 (330mb/2mb download/upload speed) package from Times Warner. When the motorola started having problem, I did some research and apparently Time Warners have a "sanctioned" list of modem to use and this was one of them. Although a tad more expensive then a few others, we bought this Netgear and it worked like a charm. We are definitely getting over 300Mb download speed when hooked up directly, and approx 150 to 200Mb over wifi (probably due to the limitation of the wifi dongle on the pc and wireless card on the MacBook). Note that buying this modem is all you need to setup internet and wifi at your home. It's both the modem router (that hooked to the Time Warner Coaxial connection) and a wifi hub to let your wifi enabled devices (phones, PCs, bluray etc) connect to it. The modem works as advertise and easy to setup. We are very happy with our purchase. Four stars because it is a bit pricier than the norm for this range of modem.

I've only had the NETGEAR - AC1750 for two months, but it seems rock solid so far. I'm using it with TWC for internet service, so I did have some assistance configuring it--installer said it was the first one he had seen and noted that while Netgear was not his "preferred brand," it was a very good spec'd unit. Plenty of wired outlets for networking the main home theater area and very strong AC wireless throughout the house. I have not had to reset at all, except after a power outage to reconnect with a finicky Epson Artisan. Highly recommend this combo unit to avoid rental fees from the cable company and eliminate the need for a separate cable modem and router. Pricier than some competitors, but I wanted to make sure that It was semi future proof. I'm running 50-Mbps through it now, but it is ready for speeds in excess of 300-Mbps. Had a similar Netgear AC router only previously that I used instead of the U-verse gateway for wireless and it was a big improvement over that company's 2-Wire unit. Never had any issues with that one over a three year period. Hoping this unit will have similar longevity.

I've been using Xfinity blast internet with Comcast's rental modem. That modem/router is the biggest piece of junk ever, so I had to upgrade to something better. I found the Netgear AC1750 Dual-Band Wireless-AC Router with DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem, and I couldn't be any happier with how fast my internet is now. Everything is instant when surfing the web. No more bandwidth problems when searching through online game servers. That was one of the big problems with the old rental modem - it would lock up the internet at random or it would lock up whilst searching through online gaming servers. I simply had to review the item because of how happy I was with this modem/router. All you have to do is contact Comcast's support service, ask to setup a new device, then a person should help step you through the process to make it work. Took 20 minutes, maybe less, to get it setup. *NOTE* You can't use a phone service with this router.

Cox Customers - DO NOT BUY THIS MODEM !

This modem is NOT compatible with Cox Service. The Cox Web Page of Compatible Modems lists this modem/router as RECOMMENDED for packages including Ultimate. Well, that is wrong. I spent several hours this afternoon with both Cox and NETGEAR. NETGEAR says the serial number is valid for the product. Cox's system will not provision it. It gives an error message of the serial number not being in inventory which translated means NOT COMPATIBLE. This matter was escalated to the highest Cox Tech Support Level. This modem is NOT COMPATIBLE WITH COX COMMUNICATIONS (At least not in VA.) Someone at Cox made a serious error on it's Support Page of Compatible Modems. My one star rating and not recommending this modem to a friend has nothing to do with this product's quality. It is a rating of my personal experience. Think of this post as a public service message to Cox Customers and Best Buy who will avoid returned product from Cox Customers.

I had the comcast technecolor modem/router unit with phone service for about 4 years, which worked well. Wife and I decided we don't use the landline enough to justify the $120 bill for phone and internet each month(including $10 monthly rental fee) Set up with comcast was pretty easy. Had an issue with my cell phone connecting with wifi, so ended up resetting the modem and works fine now. Internet speed with old modem was 120mbps ethernet wired and around 60-70 mbps wifi. (old modem was 2.4gz only) This modem/router has same 120 wired speed, but up to 80 mbps on 2.4gz and a full 120 mbps on 5gz. Not all my stuff works on 5 gz but the devices that do test at a fantastic speed. My Ring doorbell2, which only works on 2.4gz, always had a fair-poor signal with my old modem/router. With this new ac1750, it now has a consistant "good" signal. (I did a speed test on my doorbell and it is getting 55mbps - a great signal- so not the router's fault the doorbell isn't getting a "great" signal) All this and my comcast bill is now $49 per month!

I was tired of paying Comcast $5/month for a modem/router that was, frankly, terrible. I have a very connected house -- ecobee, Echos, Google Home, video doorbell, numerous Rokus, gaming devices, smartphones, iPads, laptops... I needed something that could catch up. This router came highly reviewed, and I've always been a fan of Netgear products since working in IT. Setup wasn't bad -- called Comcast to provision the modem (though later figured out I could have done this via their new Xfinity app), then once it was online, renamed the SSID & reset network settings to match my former router, so all my devices could just jump back online. I had to reset a couple devices, they for some reason wouldn't reconnect, but of all of my devices, it was only one or two. After installing the latest firmware, this router has performed beyond expectations, delivering 150Mbps without an issue. I work from home and rely on my Internet connectivity, and this has kept up for the month I've had it. I would recommend it to anyone looking for their own replacement!

I waited half a year before I wrote my review to be sure it was going to reflected upon long term usage and not just a couple of weeks. I can honestly say that it has not disappointed me. I live in a two story house that is about 2,200 sq. ft. and it has done very well. We are a family heavy Internet users; from streaming Netflix to online gaming to streaming our own media content. I have TWC and it hooked up easy with no issues. I liked that I did not have to mess with updating the firmware on my end and the 16 channels bonded right away. All is good! For those of you who have problems with the 5GHz band try updating the driver software for your wireless adapter. I had one laptop that had that problem but it turned out it was not the router it was a software update on my laptop for the wireless adapter. In the past 6 months I have only gone offline 3 times, but I think each time was the fault of my ISP and not the router, a service outage of Internet service. I would recommend this router and it can keep up with everyone in my house, speeds are great, I am happy I bought it

Hello guys... I purchased this unit 6 months ago. (NETGEAR - AC1750) At that time the unit worked ok, meaning no drop signal or any issue but kind of slow which wasn't that much of noticeable... I let it go at the at that time thinking I have a year support from netgear. My other computer I never got to connect (don't know why). So, recently, the unit started dropping signals and had to reset the router and computer every time which took 5-8 min. I had it enough so I called. Spoke to rep and I was told that my warranty covers 90 days and they would have to charge me to extend. That made me mad, cause I paid over $200 at the time and was highly recommended by best buy. Honestly, I felt like NETGEAR intentionally programed this unit to bread down. I downloaded the new version and still cant get it to work properly. VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS UNIT.... GOOD LUCK....

    Great/Not good for Zito Media

Great product! Fast connection! The following connections were pushing the modem with zero issues; 3 each Laptop (college labs running) / 1 each Xbox one live running (COD/ZOMBIES no lag)/ 1 ea Netflix movie (no buffing) playing all at once. The only negative experience was a darn firm wire update that happened over night. The update made the modem not compatable to my ISP. So, I called "Netgear" customer service (horrible verbal communication) and the blaming game began between the ISP and Netgear. Thanks God for Best Buy customer service!!! Purchased the Arris AC1900 and that was horrible!!! It was acting like the rental equipment i got from zito, slow connections, everything was lagging tot he point it automatically re-started the modem. You can imagine the frustration! Currently trying out the Netgear Model C7000, no issues in the last 30 min of use. lol I hope my experience helps you chose a modem that will work for you! FYI.. pay with Credit Card, it was the only way Best Buy was able to help me. I would of been out of luck if i would have paid cash!

If you set it and forget it... and don't care about any admin settings this may work for you. However, this Netgear 6300 has a kludge way of setting access times for devices. Basically it is all or nothing. I had an Actiontec C1900A with CenturyStink and you could set access times individually per device using MAC addresses. You could turn off access to the kids devices at 8 pm and the wife's laptop at 11 pm. The Netgear 6300 has no such feature. Only a blanket setting for days of the week for ALL devices. Additionally the time on my modem is set incorrectly, and unlike the documentation claims, there is NO place to change the modems time, so even the blanket settings for access don't work correctly. I'm also getting many dropped connections for no good reason. Things will be working great for a while then nothing. Constant restarting, even a reset did nothing to fix this ailing device. Why all the positive reviews? I'm not sure. Most likely this will be going back to the store. For this price it should do what you want.

If you have TimeWarner Cable and are using any of their speed tiers 50MB+, this modem is a no-brainer. It is certainly a pricey choice, but gone will be the days of constant speed issues and having to reboot your modem constantly. This thing just works, and the wireless speeds are VASTLY improved over the rental modems TimeWarner charges $9/mo to use. I am in DFW and the connections are due to be upgraded from the current 100Mb/5Mb max to 300Mb/20Mb in May 2015. With the 100Mb plan, the rental modem's wireless capped out around 80Mb if I was lucky. Once I replaced it with this one I am consistently getting around 113Mb/7Mb. This modem supports speeds over 600Mb, so it should stay relevant for years to come; this is important as it takes about 2 years worth of "rental fees" to break even. In summary, this is totally worth the investment and if you want the 300Mb speeds coming soon, you'll have to buy the modem any way then as there is no rental option.

JUNK Worthless for Online Game Play or Browsing

PROS: The best thing I can say is this is the worst cable modem I have ever owned. CONS: Frequently hangs with "Connection Interrupted" during online game play, like from 1-3 seconds. Even occasionally hangs on speed test including Speakeasy, Xfinity/Comcast, and OOKLA, and by hangs I mean it just stops responding for minutes until I kill the test. This modem has 16x4 Channel Bonding and does reach 122mbps download and 12mbps upload, but with the frequent interrupted connection I gave up and went back to my 4 year old Motorola Surfboard 6120 which reaches 96mbps download and 12mbps upload, at least the connection is stable. If I buy another cable modem it will be the newer Motorola Surfboard with 16x4 channel bonding. Stay away from the Netgear AC1750 (C6300), it is JUNK.
