Check your exterior packaging, 1st one DOA
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great router. I would have given it a 5 star except for the first one not working. If the entire shipment is dinged, I would expect Best Buy to go through the products before they are put on the shelves and make sure that each one not only turns one but actually works. They would then be able to get the shipping insurance and we would get functioning equipment. Customers should not have to diagnose equipment that is dinged up.

A more tech savy person could set mine up better.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not experiencing the benefit of dule band router. Router won't recognize the password when trying to connect on 5G. Tech support NO help.

Good for fewer than 6 wireless devices.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fast speed, but they really need to fix the problem about dropping the IP address from the intensely provider modem. It happens pretty often.

Good in bursts
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome router when it's working I went through two before having to switch to a Asus AC router. It works in short bursts of time and then needs a reset to get going again.

AC router has promise
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hoping to extend the range of my existing 2.4 Ghz network after reading the positive reviews even though ac devices aren't yet available. The unit was on sale and the time was right. The first unit would not connect to my 5 Ghz repeater but did connect to my other wireless devices: Captivate phone, Ipad and Macbook. The second unit did not work at all on 5 Ghz. 0 for 2 was enough and I returned the second unit. I tested the range on the 2.4 Ghz and found it to be the same as my current router.

It doesn't have what Netgear claims
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a next Gen. Product with easy to setup Process. No multimedia HD streaming in Wifi like Netgear claims. Better then rest In the market with higher price.

Pretty good router for the money.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Seems to work ok, but I haven't ruled it out as the cause of some internet issues since installation.

Not great value for cost
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Router stops functioning about once a month, requiring a reboot. Seriously considering flashing DD-WRT onto it to see if it's the firmware. For 200 bucks I would have expected much more functionality, and I definitely expected it to NOT malfunction once a month requiring a reboot. I already have routers that do as much. Not sure I needed to pay 200 bucks to add one more to my collection.

Typical Netgear junk
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my third Netgear router, and as has happened with the previous 2 that I have purchased, it works great for a few days, then you turn on your laptop and have to set the network up all over again, sometimes two or three times in the same day. My networked printer is shut out, my desktop is shut out, my smartphone is shut out. When I was looking for a new router (I try to upgrade to the newest, greatest one every 18 months or so) the sales person took me over to the netgear section and I cringed. Burned twice already by the same poor performance, I was twice shy. I bought it against my better judgement, hoping they had solved some issues. I was wrong. Apparently the problem is that the netgear routers assign addresses to each device, and then automatically changes them every so often, therefore locking out of the network all the devices on the network. Dragged out my old linksys and plugged it in, and viola!, had no problems since. (Been a month now) So would I recommend this to a friend? Ha, ha ha, hahahahahahaha, uh NO.

Nice Upgrade
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I live in a two-story home with my router located in the basement. I previously had a 600N (300 Mbps). Had occasional drop connections that had became increasingly aggravating. Decided to purchase a new one. This router solved that issue. I now have zero drop connection issues. Very pleased with this. I've also seen an improvement in HD streaming as this router speed is 450 compared to the 300 I previously had. Most users will not get to utilize the 1300 speed as these wireless A/C adaptors have not flooded the market yet. For some consumers, they will be misled into thinking they will get the full benefit of the router. You will not. Overall though, I would highly recommend it. If you get a new laptop later that has the wireless AC adaptor, you will already have a router that gives you that functionality!

Expensive but worth it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been a loyal NETGEAR customer for years and they have yet to fail me. I had a single band N router before buying this and it was just not capable of providing the bandwidth needed for the amount of wireless devices and media streaming we do. With new game consoles and viewing devices we needed something that would provide the internet without having long periods of buffering. This router did the trick. It has great range and speeds. The USB ports made connecting a printer and Hard Drive easy. The install genie made installing everything a piece of cake. You do not even need a computer to set it up! We did it all with an Android Tablet. Awesome! Since installing this our streaming is great and no buffering anymore. Our WiFi is reliable again.

Dropped internet connection 5 or 6 times a day
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We connected this router and used it for about a week before we returned it. It was constantly losing the connection. At least 6 times a day we had to reconnect.

Choose something else
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had difficult setting up with MAC products so I contacted the company to ask for help. I was told that I had to pay for assistance (yearly fee). This occured in the first week of ownership. If service is hard to get in the first week, I hate to think what it will be like in 2 years. My advise, choose another wireless router.

Waste of money and time
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I spent 6 hours on the phone over 2 days and it still had issues. I spent an addl $170 on tech support that finally made it work for a day. Some devices were never able to connect. I took it back and bought the ASUS.
