Great full fledge router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Though the price was higher than expected, I couldn't pass on the opportunity to buy this. I have been a netgear guy for sometime now but have used dlink, and belkin as well. Im a network administrator and need a router that can handle decent speeds even when tunneling into work. This router fit the bill. It even boosted my wifi speed by 10Mbps. To know I had not been getting that extra umph due to an inferior router kinda torques me. Also a plus is being able to give buddies metered guest network access without having to give out passwords or temporarily drop security. Any how worth the purchase if you are serious about a good router.

Easy Setup, Great Range to Outside Patio Area
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced a Netgear Dualband WNDR3700 N600 Wireless Router. Wow....what a difference in the range of the 2.4 & 5.0 GHZ Wireless Bands. I now have a status of "Excellent" on the 2.4 band and "Good" on the 5.0 band outside on my patio going thru 2-walls and a screen house on the patio from 35-40 feet away at max speed of my laptop at 300 Mbps on the 2.4 Mbps & 450 Mbps on the 5.0 band. My old router I was lucky to get "Good" status on the 2.4 and the 5.0 was too weak to even bother with in the same outside location. The Network Genie is easy to use and it even has an option to turn off/on your wireless bands at a certain times so your not broadcasting signal all night and saving some energy. I would highly recomend this router based on the wireless strength and the easy setup.

Better coverage than my older wireless router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I took one star off because I loose internet about once a month until I re-boot the router. Good wireless / wired router for the cost. I use both wireless and wired. Wired for my main computers and wireless for laptop, etc. I don't like the fact that you cannot do MAC address filtering. I've owned it for about a 8 months now. So far, so good (knock on wood).

Great Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased on a Sunday night and did not get to install until Monday evening. Pulled out of box and got hooked up but would not connect. Spent an hour on the phone with Netgear (very friendly and helpful) but could not get to work. The Tech had me try 3 different things and finally said he could not fix and should return to BestBuy. Returned on Tuesday evening with no problem and exchanged for a second unit. Installed at home in about 15 minutes. Works great. Have had 9 active connects with no drops in service. Always purchase Netgear products.

Best router out. Period
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Most of the problems people have with this router can be attributed to one thing: Incorrectly updating the firmware. First: Go to "Advanced" , "Administration", "Backup Settings". Backup your settings Second: Go to "Advanced", "Administration", "Router Update". Update the firmware. Third: On the back of the router near the power button, press the reset button with a pen. Fourth: Go back to "Backup Settings" and restore your original settings. Not doing it this way results in an array of connection problems, performance issues, drops, and seeing the SSID but not being able to connect without resetting the router constantly.

Simply great and easy to install
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a must buy item! I had a modern day family crisis as my old router just couldn’t keep up: kids playing x-box and wii, wife on her lap top, streaming HD on TV's....I had range extenders and the whole bit to try to cover our 4,000+ sq ft. After reading the reviews on this product I thought it was worth a shot but never thought the install would be so easy. I literally was totally up and running in 10 mins and have great signal strength throughout our entire home. Buy it and you'll never think about the price tag again - its that much better. AMAZING!!!

Upgrade Worth It
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With 4 kids, we have XBoxs, cell phones, laptops, and other devices at any various times. I questioned about us spending $200 for a router because we the last 2 were $100. The last router only lasted for 2 years. So far I am glad we made the change. I have tested different devices in various locations around the house and we have noticed an increased speed connection and so far we haven't noticed a dropped connection or lag with everything running.

Very fast, very easy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have two; one as a base station and one in bridge mode in my office. With this setup, I can deliver gigabit speed from the base station to the office. You will ONLY get that speed with an 80211ac end point. Don't expect to use (for example) an "n" adapter and get gigabit speed. Initially, I had some connection reliability issues. I called Netgear support and they gave me some tips and it has been perfect since. Other than that, I would have given ease of setup a 5. My only issue is that I also have a SiliconDust HDHomeRun 3 tuner device that should allow me to share tuners around the house. It requires UPnP and IGMP to be enabled. This unit will do that through the base station but not through the bridge router. I have an open support ticket with Netgear (who told me - incorrectly) that bridge mode is only for using the Internet. If this is what you are trying to do, I have used two Netgear Ethernet over Power adapters and that works fine (albeit a little slower speed). I didn't know how to reflect this in the ratings. If this feature had worked, I would have considered it great value for the price. As it is, I have a workaround. If you don't need this feature, then I think the router is excellent value for the price. Overall, I am very pleased with this router. It is the 4th or 5th over the years and - by far - the best.

The Best router there is
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best router I have every had, I am a Systems Engineer and have work with many Network Devices and switch's. The firewall and gui on this thing is outstanding. If you are not a tech person and don't know much about networking like a IT person myself then I would not recommend it. If you are a serious gaming or looking for a router for a small business that can handle the power of multiple devices and HD streaming then by all means this is well worth it. I have 2 network drives hook up to this thing plus my computer, a server and a couple of tablets and laptops and this take every little thing i threw at it. highly recommended

Best so far
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to replace my Netgear 3400 router. The performance is very good. But what I noticed is the range is great. I can cover the whole house with the router downstairs. Even the 5ghz had great range and thats usually the weaker signal on my 3400. Easy set up. Only thing IO question is the netgear genie speed test. I click that and it says my bandwidth is 2 to 4 mbs per second. If I use speedtest I am at my usual 40 to 50 mbs. So must be the site they use for speed testing. Otherwise no probs.

Works like a charm, very fast
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a top of the line router when paired with a top of the line modem. The ReadyShare feature is very good when its working. It's very buggy and is in bad need of an update in my opinion. It also has a feature to turn a wireless printer into an AirPrint printer. The trick is to download the app on your computer and OPEN it it and then browse to Airprint on the 1st screen. Didn't take me long to figure this out when I was troubleshooting. The app needs a "Run in background" feature for problems such as this. other than that, its great for movies, music, torrents, and PS3 online. Enjoy

Fast and holds all devices
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.the only complaint is the price - but then again you pay to be first with 11ac. Super fast, can do 2.4 and 5G - holds connection with every device in the house (10+). The reason I dumped my old wireless is because too many connections - wireless connections - something would always get bumped. This connects to 10+ devices while also routing VOIP calling with no drops. I live in a duplex with all metal C channel - no problems. longest distance I've tested is 50'

Love it!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this router after having coverage issues with Motorola's SB6850 combo unit. I installed this unit and set it up in a matter of minutes and coverage issues are gone. Have Smart TV, Xbox 360, PS3, several smart phones, laptops, etc. and all are up and running flawlessly. Would highly recommend this unit to anyone, especially if there is an issue with coverage or dead spots.

Great Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is by far the easest installing wireless modem I have ever done. I have been a d-link user for years because of install difficulties with Netgear. This dual channel has improved on line gaming while not interferring with web surfing. With 10 plus wireless products plus 4 hardwire computers this handles them all. Wife on her I pad, myself on a work and home computer at the same time, son on laptop and PS3 with friends and none of us with interruptions. I do wish it had a digital display on the front of download and upload data speeds. But other than that it is perfect.

Gigabit wireless LOVE IT
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently took a job as an RA in a small dorm (75 students) and we have a secure dorm with 22 cameras. Each camera needs around 5mbs to stream at full speed. The dorm wireless cannot even come close to supplying the 110-140 meg a second required. Tried all kinds of routers, N, etc. Nothing cut it. Bought this with its companion USB wireless adapter. BAM! 120meg a second no sweat and now I can sit in the comfort of my dorm room and watch the cams while I watch TV on the couch. By far, the very best wireless router I ever bought

Decent features, sub-par 2.4g signal
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I live in a 100 year old house with plenty of lead paint still on some of the walls (though very well sealed) so wireless signal transmission has always been an issue and I have had to keep two routers going to get decent signal even with a footprint of less then 1000 sq ft. I had been hoping that replacing my aging WNR3500 with this would provide at least the same signal strength, IPv6 compatibility, and 5ghz coverage for the few devices we have that can use it. Netgear has made huge improvements over the last couple of years with their setup experience and the web administration console is extremely well laid out for users who just need to know the basics, but just a click or two away are still pages and pages of advanced settings for people who know how to tweak things a bit. The 5ghz signal is fantastic, and the USB port and built-in traffic meter are great perks, but the 2.4ghz signal is actually very slightly lower then what we had with the WNR3500 so I'll need to keep the other AP in the front of the house for the time being. Additionally I had been hoping that the Wireless Repeating functionality had been upgraded so that we could use something other then the horrendously insecure WEP encryption, but that is still a problem in this product so we'll be sticking with two different WiFi networks until someone eventually gets that worked out.

Ultimate speed; easy set-up; excellent connection
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I cancelled my cable TV service a year ago and depend on the internet to watch the news and other programs. Since I had a router that handled a maximum 300 mbps and had buffering problems, I decided to get the fastest internet cable service. Here in Hawaii, it's Ultimate speed which costs about $88 a month. Easy to justify since I don't pay for TV service. The Ultimate speed made a big difference in the mbps, but I wondered how much better it might get if I had the fastest router: Enter Netgear's
