Excellent
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What can be said about a product that is basically plug'n play? Plugged it in, ran the router managing software, a couple of simple tweaks to access my ISP and away I went. All of my transactions requiring the wireless performance, to include video, operate w/ out any distruptions. Highly recommend the router for its performance and security.

Excellent Range and Band Width
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using several different versions of linksys since the begging of WiFi. I was hoping G would live up to the hype. but it could never stream a movie without buffering. Now the N router is excellent. Netgear quality is out standing. Bandwidth is outstanding. I'm streaming everywhere. Finally Wifi is doing what it was hyped to do.

This is fast WiFi.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been using Apple Base Stations forever wanting Apple compatibility and dual band usage. Due to other circumstances I had to purchase another and decided to try a different brand. I looked at the specs in store, brought it home and it's great!

Died - Five Months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I first got this thing in Nov 2012, I thought it was great. By the way, I also bought the corresponding Netgear A6200 wireless USB adapter. My internet seemed speedy. And, the router software interface was updated to work with Win 7 - sort of. The software interface did not work with IE 9. It worked fine with Chrome. Kind of a small thing . . . but it also reveals a lack of testing with major browsers in use at the time (five months ago!). During the last month, I have had numerous times when I booted my PC, and had no internet. Up until today, rebooting my Scientific Atlanta cable modem and the Netgear A6300 router restored my internet connection. Today, no amount of rebooting restored it. I found that a wired connection to my laptop directly from the cable modem worked fine. Thus, the router was bad. The thing is, this was the third Netgear router to go bad on me in the last three years. With the previous two, I thought the failures were either one-offs (as the technology was evolving) or maybe that I was over-loading them with wireless connections (getting ahead of their intended uisage). But, this final failure, for which I paid two hundred dollars five months ago, was my last dance with Netgear. I went to Best Buy tonight and bought an ASUS router (another one hundred and fifty nine dollars). For what it's worth, my internet connection is back to normal. And, my internet seems snappier than I have seen in a while.

Expected better quality from Netgear
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this router as an upgrade to my existing home wifi. Very easy installation and setup. The router worked great for about a day. It soon started dropping connections and freezing up. I never could figure out what was wrong with it. The 5g did not have a very strong signal compared to the 2.4g. Tried to use it with online gaming. The dropped connections made it almost impossible to use it with anything that needed a constant connection for streaming.

Great In all ways!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from owning just about every high end router, this is by far the best in the lineup. Netgear has really out did themselves with this router.

Constant router rebooting
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My ISP is AT&T. My connection configuration type does not warrant a modem so I connect my NetGear R6300 to the Ethernet port that extends from my wall. This unit decreases bandwidth by ~ 20% when I run speedtest diagnostics on it vs. when I plug my laptop directly into the Ethernet hub on the wall - which is still pretty fast, to be honest. My primary complaint is the constant need to reset the router due to drops of internet connectivity. It's very sporadic. I am on my 3rd unit in 3 months. I took the first one back after NetGear's tech support failed to resolve the connectivity issues. The 2nd one was fried after a power surge from a thunderstorm, and my 3rd one is back to dropping the internet connection. I've troubleshooted using every device in my home (iPhone, iPad, Mac laptop, Windows 7 laptop, iTouch, Tivo DVR, Playstation 3 and a wireless bridge/repeater) and all devices are impacted. I also triaged with my ISP and all things point back to this router. I am returning it (again) and divorcing from this manufacturer. There are other good reviews for this product so I have not 100% eliminated the possibility of the issue being related to something in my ecosystem.

Would Not Recommend
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this router as an upgrade from a previous Netgear router. I installed it that night and it started to lose connection to phones, laptops and tablets the next morning. It is a nice looking device, but the range is terrible. I should have listened to the Sales Associate when I tried to get me buy the Night Hawk. I returned it the next day for a Linksys!

Netgear R6300V2 router intermittent
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased just over 1 year ago to replace a Dlink 655 router that has been very stable and reliable for 8 years. After about 6 months the unit would intermittently stop working and required a restart to reconnect to the internet. Noticed it was running very hot. Put a fan on it and it helped for a while, no more interruptions. In the last month, just after the warranty expired, started losing wireless randomly, sometimes the 2.4 Ghz, sometimes the 5 Ghz, sometimes both. As I write this, the 5 Ghz band is not working. Both the main and guest SSID fail. Using a wifi analyzer on android phone, the 5 Ghz signal strength is "excellent" but no wireless device can connect. The latest firmware is installed. Internet searching does not provide any solutions. This is completely unacceptable performance from what should be a premium router with a premium price tag.

Thought it would make Internet faster
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been having some computer issues, so it may not be entirely the router, but my Internet runs slower with this one than the old one. Also, I had to buy a new adapter which I didn't know the first time I was in the store to buy the router. The Geek Squad guys are great though, and everyone at the Field's Ertel (sp.?) Best Buy is great.

Worthless
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Lets begin.... 1)This device is advertised as a "heavy duty media streamer." Which it absolutely isn't. I have two top of the line gaming PCs and a top range desktop for media on my television. I hooked up my external storage drive for movies to the router and it can't get more than a few seconds into a movie without freezing. I've tried streaming to all 3 PCs. It falls FAR short on this claim. 2)The Firmware is constantly being updated, which I expect for a new device type. But access to the router is web browser based, and the user interface is junk. 3) The router is constantly losing connection to the internet. (I've switched out the modem and it behaves the same). This is WORTHLESS for gaming. Prior to obtaining this router I was stealing wireless internet from a neighbor and playing Battlefield 3 with no problem and only an occasional lag. Now that I have the router, it drops internet like AtT&T drops calls. Additionally, the router needs to be rebooted every other day. So in summary, the two main features that would draw anyone to pay $200 for a new router are worthless. I was better off with my old $99 netgear router.
