Great for Windows. Linux, not so much

No issues in Windows. Works great. I bought this adapter for a Linux box (Ubuntu 11). The adapter is not natively supported in Linux. Linux tips: The CD has the driver bunbled in an exe file. You can search and download the driver from the 'Net. Or, install the CD using Wine. Copy the driver from Wine and use ndiswrapper. If you're running security, make sure you have wpasupplicant installed. Once I did the steps above, the adapter worked great in Linux. No issues whatsoever.

This item works just fine. Picks up the wireless signal from my router with no problems. The router is a floor above and 2 rooms over too. Easy to set-up and use!

    Easy to use, intermittent problems

I have a newer netgeat router and so I expected these two products to work pretty much seamlessly. My experience so far has been a little less than expected. I understand placement sometimes matters and microwaves and refrigerators can impact performance, but I can go from having a great connection one moment to a poor one the next moment. Testing the router with another computer easily points the problem at the adapters link to the router. This is an annoyance that I have to unfortunately live with since I have few other options that don't involve significant work (routing a hardwire cable and making it invisible for my wife or moving my machine).

Worked until I upgraded to Windows 10

First things First: THIS DOES NOT CURRENTLY WORK WITH WINDOWS 10 (April 5, 2016). I bought this adapter when I decided to upgrade an older computer with a new hard drive. The older computer was running Windows 7. When I first installed this adapter and ran it in Windows 7, it was great. I had a good solid internet connection and blazing fast download speeds. I was excited to have this computer up and running well. Then, I went for the Windows 10 upgrade. And that is where everything fell apart. Netgear claims the WNA3100 is Windows 10 compliant, but DO NOT BELIEVE IT. I tried everything. Install software, uninstall software, reload software, uninstall Virus Protection, re-load software again. I tried every possible combination of loading and reloading this craptastic Netgear Windows 10 software and drivers. Just as others have said here, the adapter runs for a few minutes then slowly craps out. I ran several network tests and you can literally see the adapter losing connectivity. Simply put, THIS DOES NOT CURRENTLY WORK ON WINDOWS 10. This is the download description from Netgear's website, "Software Version 2.2.0.4 (Supports Win10)" So, if version 2.2.0.4 is still the latest driver version from Netgear, DO NOT BUY THIS for a Windows 10 machine. You have been warned.

Fastest set up ever. Signal went from my room, through kitchen, through the dinning room, to the other room with ease. Had better signal than the pci card i installed on my computer. Only thing im worried about is how it sticks out of my computer. Other than that i would buy again whenever i update my other computers.

Overall a great buy. I get very good signal. 70% is good. My last wireless adapter was recieving 30%. This thing was worth every penny. The distance from my computer to my router is about 100 feet and goes between two walls. This is a one story house.

I think that this is a decent value for its price, my only complaint being that sometimes I have connection issues. These are generally easily resolved by unplugging and plugging it back in(May be simpler, more permanent solution). Other then that though its easy to install and use-

    Great Coverage! Easy Install!

This little piece of wireless technology helped solve some big logistical problems for me in a business environment where there are no Cat5 drops. I needed to connect a workstation computer to the rest of my Windows Server network. This wireless stick did the trick! Once initially installed, I joined the PC to the network, and voila! Works just like it was wired! It's only downside is that it's a bit large for a USB wireless device, and if plugged directly into a PC, stands the risk of getting snapped off. In the box, however, Netgear supplies a remote cable, so you can move it away from the PC and any inadvertent harm.

Device loses connectivity all the time

The NETGEAR N300 Wireless-N USB Adapter is easy to install. It is a PNP device. Windows automatically detects the device when connected to the USB port, however you do need to install the drivers that come on a CD. The device has a very unreliable connection. It loses its connection after about a minute. End user has to do a "repair connection" and in many instances pull out the NETGEAR N300 Wireless-N USB Adapter and plug it back into the USB port.

Netgear's 300 wifi adapter is awful

I bought this adapter 2 months ago for casual use. At first it was great and preformed as advertised. Then 2 months in it disconnects me every 20 mins, not only that but the speed dropped from approx 150mbps to about 27mbps. Then after about a week of this; it dies every 15mins. I have to take it out of the usb slot and plug it back in and reconnect manually. Would not recommend.

Installation was very easy. Just run the CD, folow the directions, and plug in the adapter. My kids are using it upstairs a good 40 feet away from the downstairs router and we've had no issues at all.

This device, coupled with my new Galaxy tab, allowed me to get rid of my DSL/ landline, saving about $70 per month. Before cutting the DSL, I uploaded an 8GB file of photos. Worked great.
