Great for Desktop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a toddler who used to continually pull my previous adapter out of the USB port on the front of the computer and when I plugged it into the back of the computer in the computer cabinet it got poor reception. Now it is plugged in via the cord and the actual adapter is on top of the computer cabinet for great reception and out of the reach of toddler. Most people would not like the cord, works good in this circumstance.

Net Gear Not Worth it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was in need of a wireless connection for my XP computer so I browsed the numerous selections at Best Buy. I originally was going for the Belkin - Wireless-N+ USB 2.0 Adapter but unfortunately it was on serious back order, so I opted as my second choice the NETGEAR Wireless-N USB Adapter. I installed the program as the device recommended and waited until it loaded the program. Easy enough. Once it finished, it asked to plug in the USB adapter. So I did. I began it's "Searching for network device" and it continued to search and search and search. After about 20 seconds, Windows decided to butt in and say "HEY! New device found!" but yet the program was still searching for the elusive device. After nearly a minute, it suddenly woke up and found the device. Huzzah! The computer reboots. Huh? No warning of 'computer requires a restart' or anything. I shrugged this off, maybe I missed something. So the computer reboots and the program starts up and says "Hey I found a new device, do you want to look for a network?" Uh, yeah. That's what I said the first time before you rudely decided to reboot my computer. So I hesitantly clicked 'Yes' and it found the network. Yay! I click on the home network that I wanted and it found it immediately. I was getting 85% signal strength. "Great!" I said aloud. I'm going surfin'! I close the program window (with all settings saved) and no sooner do I close the window, I no longer have access to the my network. I check the program and it is in eternal search stage. You can't access any of the features prior to loosing the network. In fact, it can't find the network, any network, even after a few minutes the program couldn't even find the USB adapter. What the bloody! I go look into my computers hardware device tab and the USB adapter can no longer start. So I followed the instructions on uninstalling the program and reinstalling it. Easy enough. I click on the program's uninstalling option, click it, and half way through the uninstallation, the computer reboots, then hard crashes (BSOD), and reboots again (asking if I want to reboot in safe mode). Once it reboots, it says the program is uninstalled and I can now remove the USB device. I remove it and it once again causes my PC to reboot. This device and it's software is the biggest load of smoldering feces on the planet. The program caused my computer reboot every time it was reinstalled or uninstalled. I realize that my OS is old school, but it has served me quite well through these years. Plus my motherboard couldn't take 7 (and I really don't have the funds to go out and spend money on a new OS and mboard/processor right now). In the end, I would not recommend this bug ridden piece of garbage to anyone. Save your money and buy a decent wireless device from Belkin or Linksys.

Makes wireless connectivity a breeze!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to move our computer desk out of our daughter's bedroom and deal with the possibility of having a desktop computer without internet. I talked to a friend who told me to check out wireless usb adapters. I did some research on Bestbuy.com and found this beauty. I was literally up and running in about 3 minutes. The internet works just as great as a wired connection we had on it previously. It saved me time and energy from having to possibly drill holes in my house & re-run the cable line - good times! Been working ever since!

Do not ever buy this piece of trash.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this thing for over 6 months and all I can say about it is that it's complete trash. Although if it worked most of the time it would of been better. I use this for gaming. Pros - High Speed - Good Range - Very easy to set up Cons - Overheats in a matter of minutes - Due to overheating, Internet speeds Decrease and Network latency Increase dramatically. - Often stops working out of nowhere and won't connect to any router after. I advise not buying this at all. Save up the extra $30-40 to get a better one.

It took 4 tries to set up
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The network adapter works great once I got it set up properly. It took 4 tries and 2 return trips to Best Buy before I finally got it to work. The Tech Support girl from Century Link walked me through the setup and finally got it to work. Since installation the adapter has worked flawlessly! My only complaint is the poor installation instructions included with the adapter.
