Works fine on Linux Mint 11 32bit installation.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works fine on Linux Mint 11 32bit installation. My Linksys would not transfer from an old desktop to my Dell XPS 410 so I purchased the Net Gear on Best Buy sales recommendation b/c the usb extension makes the remote connection perform better. It works just fine under wine 1.3. Located about 30 feet from the router.

stay away from this if you have windows 7 64 bit
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i have a desktop that i had built a few years back that i wanted to use this for. i am currantly running windows 7 64 bit on it and after installing the soft-wear for this device i could connect to the internet for about 30 seconds before it would kick me back off. long story short i was not able to do anything else with it till 25 days later do to being out of town. my first call was to netgear tec support and was told that i would need a different device and to return this one to were i bought it from to be told by best buy that they would not exchange it do to being outside the 15 day return policy and that i needed to call netgear back and get them to exchange it for a different model. called them back to be told that they can only exchange it with the same model and then after explaining that it is common issue as i found out when i was on hold and was telling them that the tec guy started getting all defensive and tried telling me that i needed to get different drivers for this device except there are no other drivers available for it. i have always used netgear products before but after this i will be switching to a different brand for all future networking needs.

As intended
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Couldn't measure it against anything except that the internal wireless card in my laptop had the same wireless signal strength as when I installed this adapter. No real improvement in my case.

drops signal all of the time
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.drops every time you walk away from the machine, if you are not on it constantly you have to reconnect everytime, very annoying. I have been meaning to call them but been very busy, it could possibly be a setting but not sure at this point.

Excellent Alternative to WiFi Card and USB Modem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installed in a Dell Vostro 220 from 2009 running Vista Home and connected to cellular hotspot. No issues and connection speeds 10 times faster than previous Sierra Wireless 250U USB Sprint Mobile Modem at 3G. Sprint would not enable 4G service for their modem on the tower in our back yard.

Good for the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was reorganizing my apartment and settting up a home office in my bedroom. So I bought this to set it up because my router is in the bedroom. It sucks that its not 100% plug and play you still have to do install off a CD. I think if they advanced it where you just plug it in and it takes off for you would be great.

Great Device
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device is simple and easy to use, used it to add a new PC to our existing wireless network. The setup was as "no brainer" as it could possibly be and the ease of use was as close to the definition of "plug and play" as you can get. Plug it in, add the device to the network, use it. Simple, simple, simple.

Set up may be confusing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.During set up , it asked which program I wanted to control wireless. I selected netgear instead of windows and I couldn't get a connection. I re did the set up and went with windows and it worked fine.

Poor reliability, lousy technical support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This adapter only functioned on my computer for a couple hours before the connection became increasingly unreliable and then died entirely with my computer no longer able to find it. Other adapters have worked just fine on the same machine. I tried netgear's technical support several times but all that was managed was temporary fixes which usually lasted less time than I spend with technical support, and we even had connectivity trouble during the sessions which they purposefully ignored or blamed on me. They actually hoked other products at me during most of these sessions being more interested in that than in fixing the problem. One of the people on the support line was somewhat helpful being quick and actually told me that this has serious compatibility problems with Windows XP, but even his fix only worked for a little while. While the box recommends this as suitable for gaming the widespread reliability problems leave it poorly suited to that. Fortunately I returned it well within BestBuy's return period and that proved quick and easy.
