    I bought this for my wife's Acer netbook because of it's 5GHz capability. There are several 2.4GHz WiFi networks, as well as cordless phones and microwaves within a football field sized area, so we needed to be able to use the 5GHz bandwidth. The reason I give it 4 out of 5 is for two reasons. 1. It's big; it sticks out almost 3 in (I attribute that to needing two antennae/radios for dual bands) 2. Netgear's consumer tech support is not competent. After upgrading to Win 8.1 the device stopped seeing the 5GHz band. Their initial response was to replace the device, when they knew, and later stated that, it was a confirmed software issue. The issue was with Microsoft's built in drivers and not Netgear's. Once I switched to Netgear's drivers it worked fine.

    I live in a apartment that has 3 floors, I use this my bedroom on the 3rd floor, the wireless is on the opposite side of apt on 1st floor and I have perfect signal. Easy install

    Nice speeds, installation was easy as Windows Vista to Win8.1 will pick it up automatically. Little speed loss going over a thin wall but does the job for me. If you got a lot of walls to go through, be warned.

    I feel that I should not have to contact the company who made the product when I received one free from the Best Buy Geek Squad before I purchase this item. They informed of this when the I told them the first one quit working. I only had the first one for a few months. I felt that they should have called the company or given me a new one.
