Works great, with occasional Refresh needed
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best Buy helped me determine that my cable modem had died (WiFi router was OK). So we got this modem even though we have only the basic cable speed. Almost everything (smart TVs, laptops, iPhones) works better and faster than with the old router. And since I kept the older router, it was a plug and play update. A few iOS apps lose their WiFi connection when switching, so I dropped one star. That’s the only negative I’ve found so far, which requires that I hit the refresh icon.

Great Modem
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Didn't want to pay the cable company monthly for a modem and this fit the bill. I'd give it a better value rating if it included a router too. It's easy to use and great speed.

Higher speeds
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgraded from what used to be the best modem/router two years ago. Apparently, with netgear, even with software updates, stuff slows down. Spent $500 two years ago for the “fastest” option but it started slowing extremely to the point of no functionality. A reset to factory settings actually made it worse bc then the modem got stuck on the factory password and couldn’t update to match my computer. So bought this one plus some Orbis. Another $500 and I’m back at top speed. Definitely sucks bc they trap you into the $500 upgrade constantly if you need it for work. But worth it if you work from home, I guess :/

Fix Random Outages from your ISP
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do you keep getting random internet outages from your cable internet service provider? Buy this modem and try it out for a week to see if your connection improves. This is way better than the garbage modems your ISP sends to you, and if you're like me - your speeds will increase significantly. For best results, pair with a good Wifi 6 or Wifi 6E router for your home.

Surprising disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Netgear makes a quality product. I did a lot of research before I decided to purchase this product as I am a tech and work from. It worked great for about 6 months. Then it failed. I had to call Netgear for support. My modem was a few days out of the 90 day warranty and found that I had to pay $139 for an extended "Gearhead" warranty. I was totally disappointed to find that the "techs" on the other end literally could hardly speak English nor comprehend what I was asking. To make a long story short, I knew more about their product than they did. I troubleshot it to the port level. I requested the RMA (they wanted to RMA my router). I needed the product asap, I was forced to pay an additional $29.99 for overnight shipping. It came 3 days later, In the meantime I had to go out and buy another modem as a backup and to use. I was disappointed but happy to have them replace it. Overall, I'm not giving up on Netgear but I am disappointed in this experience.

Can’t Go Wrong with Netgear
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Extremely easy setup. NOTE: The extra Ethernet ports can only be used for internet speeds of 1 Gig or above. Purchase the CM1000 and save $30 otherwise.

Good while it lasted
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So for the half a year that I had it this modem worked very well, was a vast improvement over the last modem I had. But after Spectrum did some kind of maintenance in the area it started to disconnect, random amount of times and for random lengths of time. One day it went out for at least 8 hours. The upstream indicator light would constantly be blinking, and even troubleshooting the modem with Netgear and Spectrum could not resolve the issue. I returned it and got the non Nighthawk version of the modem and it solved my disconnect issues, so my Nighthawk one went defective.

Important to read before you buy to avoid issues
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is very important if you are planning on buying this. I spent 12 hours troubleshooting issues with internet not going through to my wifi router but direct connections working. If you are buying this for your house and using comcast, do not plug multiple ethernet cables into this modem. Basic explanation: comcast supplies households with 1 IP address. If you plug in multiple devices, i.e: a router, a desktop computer, a laptop, only one device will get internet. You need to plug an ethernet cable from the modem into the correct port on the wifi router and then plug everything else into the router. This will save you a ton of headaches. If you still end up having issues, call comcast and ask them to send a provisioning signal to the router and everything should be fixed.

Link Aggregation feature
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a solid modem, but you can only use up to 2 of the ports on it at any given time. This will work best if you have a router that has the Link Aggregation feature. The Link Aggregation feature uses port 1 and 2 of this modem at the same time to deliver up to 2000mbps speeds to your network. If your router doesn't support Link Aggregation, you will only be getting up to 1000mbps speeds using port 1 on the modem.
