Better than Arris
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.replaced an arris that was purchased not even a year ago which already has been shutting down by itself a lot of times. So I instead switched to netgear. So far no downtime.

Terrible performance with link aggregation
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you plan to use the Ethernet link aggregation feature of this modem, you need to choose a different product. With link aggregation the modem will support 1 Gigabit download speeds for two to four hours. After that time period download and upload speeds both degrade to about 25 Megabit! Gigabit performance can be restored by a power cycle or disconnecting and connecting the Ethernet connections. The Netgear forum has reports of this problem from multiple users with more than one cable company. The modem works fine if you do not enable link aggregation.

Works great
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works great , I had some minor issues when I upped my speed and they had to reset the box and start all over. The one thing that really got me was I could not bypass a wireless router by taking a line directly into my tv

Did not work with Suddenlink cable
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Device did not work well with Suddenlink internet. Max speed was 20Mbs. I suspect sudden link limits speeds on equipment they do not own.. Otherwise I think this would have been amazing with any other service. I had to return it

Nighthawk modem
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Always get Netgear modem, don't buy modem-router 2in1. They have a really good heat dissipation. The connection is very stable too. And I like my device have a on/off button. Most of modem or router don't have that.

How Netgear has fallen..
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Modem worked well for a few months, then started dropping packets. I "would" give Netgear the benefit of the doubt, but their Warranty/RMA return process is GARBAGE. Your limited 90 day support contract can expire and the help desk will hassle you about getting a support contract before fulfilling their built-in 1-year RMA process - Quite unethical. I've followed up on the ticket several times, and called and followed up on the ticket that way. As I am IT, I have already spent some time troubleshooting the problem. At some undetermined period of time after last reboot (AT LEAST once a day), it will start dropping packets, between 10-25%. Rebooting the router does not resolve, rebooting the computer does not resolve. The connection is wired and has been cable certified. The old modems did not drop packets randomly, so I am not inclined to believe that the problem is the lines. The fact that NetGear refused to review these details due to lack of support contract means they are shulking their RMA duties. Therefore, I proclaim this unit is infact a lemon, but due to Netgears HORRIBLE support policies (They still won't send me a RMA. Their tech support appears to be outsourced, likely to India, as well.) Time to see if Best Buy will give me my money back even though it has been a few months. Might not be a garbage product across the board, but garbage support/RMA return procedure means you should be considering other options where possible.

Netgear = Unhappy Experience
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this modem for a couple of weeks. You would think that a Netgear modem paired with a Netgear router (R8500) would be a seamless experience. Hah! I had difficulty getting the router to communicate with the modem. The modem had to be rebooted before the router would recognize it. After a power outage, the modem had to be rebooted to get the router to connect. Wouldn't be much of problem, but I have to get a ladder out to access the equipment on top of cabinets. What a pain this is. Never had this issue with the old modem. Maybe I should have stuck with Linksys after all.

No performance improvement
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought to replace an older Charter modem. My expectation was an improvement in stability and speed. Neither occurred. The old modem provided by Charter was working just fine--pumping out 30 Mbps and experiencing an occasional hiccup (or so I assumed). Only now do I realize that any service issues I had were not modem related. An expensive lesson with no gain. Based on my experience, I would not recommend modem replacement--unless you are renting the equipment and expect to recover the cost of your investment in some reasonable period. The nonsense of reduced latency, increased speeds, etc. is just that--nonsense.

can't use ports
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This modem worked well, but I bought it for the 4 ethernet ports, thinking I could use them to connect wired devices. I found out it doesn't work way that so I returned it and bought a CM1100 model instead.

Great Performance
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great with Cox giga-blast internet service. I recently upgrade to the faster service and therefore either had to use their modem or get my own. for the money I would recommend this one over renting as a plus
