Worked awesome for 2 months then stopped, Bestbuy was kind enough to accept this and got ARRIS - SURFboard SB8200 from them, this is cheaper and faster compared to Netgear's

Stay away from this modem! I am network professional with years of experience, so I understand this technology. Right from the start, the modem would disconnect every few days and needed to be manually rebooted. That was a hassle, but I did it anyway since the modem was expensive and this only happened once every three or four days. Then after 7 months, it was was dropping the connection to the ISP several times a day. I replaced it with an Aaris SB8200. Now my connection is rock solid. Better than it ever was with the Netgear. I called both Netgear and Best Buy, but no luck getting a replacement. Netgear wanted to do a hardware check over the internet. Anyone with any knowledge of cable modems would understand that putting the cable modem back online would require technical support from my ISP and would take considerable time and trouble. So I am out the $200 I paid for this device. Don't buy Netgear cable modems!

Ive had this since May 2021 work just fine until about three weeks ago. Even over the summer i was getting 700 down and 20 to 25 for up. But now i cant even get close to that, at the time i had 4 hard connection hooked up and 5 wifi. Now evening going through suddenlink support and 60 dollars later, im still having the same issues. Im down to just hooking one thing to the internet it times out, even then when it doesn't i get between 250 and 83 mb for download speed and 30 to 45 mb upload speed. I have reset modem and factory reset it also, every now then it works fine. But the next day or few hours later, im back to squar one. Ive even changed out routers still nothing, now with no router for the past 3 days still having the same issue. Ive read online with people having the same issue with this modem. So now I'm staying away from Netgear products, customer service it's a joke. The only way to get hold of them is if you still have warranty on the product, after that your given a forum website to ask about what problems your having.

While the product is being sold as 4 GE ports, it really doesn't work as none of those extra ports can be used for extending the LAN which makes it completely unusable. Very disappointed with buying the product

First time with Netgear cable modem and and very impressed. Previously always used Arris Surfboard modems and this one replaced its direct DOCSIS 3.1 competitor. After several years it began getting hot and cutting out. It was the ventilation in the Netgear that attracted me to it.

Here are my issues with this 1. The usual... Bestbuy ships something expensive with out putting in filler. They did this to an expensive laptop and phone as well 2. This modem doesn't have signal lights in the back. Lots of fun troubleshooting when things go wrong there. It's also cheaply made. Every other device that I have with a lan connection has signal lights. 3. It didn't work. Spectrum was initially a joke about it. Leaving me hanging and without connection. Had to call them back and get someone else. Had to switch back to the old modem. 4. Netgear customer service is tragic. Their automated system told me I was out of warranty and would have to pay for customer service. This was before I put in any information.

    Deceptive description, unreliable performance

The statement about the 4 Gigabit ports sounds like they can be used on the same network, they can not. So I paid extra for 3 ports I can't use without special router. Speed is unreliable. Incoming speed 30% higher than I am paying for yet this modem is often about 25% slower than am I paying for. Not much help from tech support either.

I purchased this very expensive modem last year since I trust Netgear. But just after three months it began to go offline frequently, which gave me a lot of trouble since kids were taking classes and I was working from home. Fortunately Spectrum offered us a free modem. Then I called the customer service. He told me that I had to purchase their technical support in order to set up a case to check it! It means I have to purchase your manufacturer warranty separately?! Then I went to their website and sent two messages. But till now there is no any response!

Netgear is a horrible company and while some of their products are okay I would stay away from their routers and modems. I replaced this item 4 times (I bought the GS warranty) and finally went with another brand. If you have issues Netgear requires you to give your CC info in the event your issue is your fault (and it WILL end up being your fault) even if the unit is STILL UNDER WARRANTY! You have been warned. I wish someone had warned me. Don’t believe the good reviews it gets. Instead, do some research and check it out- Reddit has some nice horror stories about it.
