Have Netgear Nightghawk 9000 along with this docsis 3.1 modem with voice. This modem is extremely stable compared to any of the previous Xfinity modems I had to rent from them. Simple setup and admin page is easy to navigate. Ditch renting you will never look back!

The Nighthawk cable modem is working great. Once it was set up, there are less issues with the older versions.

I upgraded to this CM2050V from a very old Arris telephony model and I have been pleased with this modem’s performance. I also like the sleek design and vertical orientation of the modem. Setup was a bit problematic since the modem would not lock a downstream channel, and the tech support agent from Netgear was essentially useless, but I eventually isolated the issue to my UPS coaxial connections (not sure why it was interfering with things because it worked fine with my Arris modem) but I simply connected the modem directly to my cable wall outlet and it locked a downstream channel just fine and my internet speed stabilized. The aforementioned Netgear tech support agent told me it was normal to not lock a downstream channel and the LED blinking for the downstream channel was normal too (the agent completely contradicted the user manual and followed an obviously scripted troubleshooting procedure delivered with no independent though). Overall I think this was a sound upgrade.

Stay Away if you want more than 50 Mbps Upstream

Avoid this modem if you want upload speeds beyond 50Mbps, currently it is not compatible (March 2025). We purchased this unit thinking the claimed 1G upstream meant it would be capable of faster uploads when Xfinity/Comcast made that available in our area. The faster uploads just recently became available in our area but the CM2050v is capped at 50Mbps (Comcast confirmed this to me). We found out the hard way after upgrading to the Gigabit X2 plan and spending hours trying to get the modem provisioned properly. The download speed is present, but our upload tops out at 42Mbps. It appears this was done on purpose by Comcast (after discovering a bug, the firmware was rolled back). This 'bug' has been worked on by both Comcast and Netgear for over a year (their own claims), and there has been no solution. It appears that the only other Voice equipped unit that can do the faster tier upstream is their own rental modem (which I would also avoid for a multitude of reasons, not just the rental fee). Best of luck !

Easy to provision with Comcast, happy with the performance, happy to not be paying a monthly modem rental fee! If you're running your own Wi-Fi router and just need a modem that gets the fastest speeds, this is a great pick, I use this to drive my Unifi Dream Machine Pro and it works perfectly.

This was easy to setup and required only a phone call to Comcast/Xfinity to switch over from my previous Comcast/Xfinity Gateway to this new modem. Granted I had to spend 30 minutes on the phone with Comcast while they updated everything on their end but it was painless. New modem works great.

    New Data and Voice Modem

Took a bit of time for the unit to update and register with Comcast. One thing the instructions don't suggest is to plug the modem directly into the computer, without a router, get the unit registered with Comcast and then, once that is stable, work on your new router (I bought a new Nighthawk RAX70 with this modem when I replaced my Motorola MT7711 Data and Voice modem/router). Once all set up, my speed on downloads increased by over 150 Mbps, and my uploads increased by about 10 Mbps. The Motorola had good range, but the new RAX70 had 3 bars for WIFI signal two houses away. Definitely do the "Try Again" a couple of times with the Netgear app when registering, as there is some definite software updates and handshaking going on in the background as Comcast searches for your device, the device updates and all the processes complete themselves. Be patient and it will be well worth it once done.

Blazing fast speed and reliable data stream. Rarely ever have to reset this modem. We had to reset the modem supplied by WOW often. We have this paired with a Nighthawk high power router and they work well together. Very happy with this purchase.

Excellent device if you Gbp speed service from your provider and a router that has 2.5 Gbp port. 2 phone lines is a plus. Paired with Netgear RAXE router connected to routers 2.5Gbp port which led light is blue when hooked to 2.5Gbp port. Simple plug and play. If you want speed and that's what your system is built for I highly recommend.

Had The Geek Squad replace the combination Modem / Router from Xfinity and saw an immediate improvement in performance and stability. Paired the Nighthawk with a mesh router and highest speed internet and I’m ready to cut the cord!

. . . Xfinity just upped my internet speed to 1+ GB, so it was time to upgrade my years old Netgear Modem that was only rated to 300MB. I have a Google Nest router so I didn't need an integrated router. Also have Xfinity voice, so I need those phone inputs. Yes, the CM2050 is expensive, but it works flawlessly with Xfinity. The key - and this is ESSENTIAL - is to download the Xfinity app. I plugged in the MAC address from the modem into the app, hit SEND and I was up and running in 10 minutes. Downloads are 900MB, upload 40MB. Very satisfied.

So happy to return Xfinity’s equipment and replace with this and eero pro. I’m finally getting the high speeds I am paying for. It’s been six months and I haven’t had a single problem. The X1 modem/router was so unreliable. The new system is A++++

Now that I have the modem in place 2 month later it works great. However, it took a failed install by me, failed install by xfinity on line assistance, failed install by a tech at my house, and then reprogramming in the xfinity system so that i could finally install the modem 2 months later.
