Customers are saying
Customers find value in the Nighthawk 32 x 8 DOCSIS 3.1 Voice Cable Modem's ease of use, strong performance, and straightforward setup. Many appreciate its voice support and competitive price, particularly as an alternative to cable company rentals. However, some users experienced compatibility issues with certain internet providers and reported problems with the Ethernet ports. The lack of built-in Wi-Fi was also a recurring point of feedback.

Works with Xfinity Phone System.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Set-up was easy. I called Xfinity even though you don't have to. Once configured, I noticed an increase and speed over the old Xfinity rental modem.

When are 4 Ports not 4 Ports?
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, I need 3 hard wired connections for telecommuting. This device, even though brags it has 4 ethernet ports, doesn't. Per Netgear, there is only 1 usable port, as the other are for aggregation. Having to return it... nothing on the page to warn you that 2 of the 4 ports are not usable by normal means. Being returned... With no explanation on the materials or box, I spent 2 days with not being able to work out why. Multiple calls to support finally resulted in getting the right staffer. Netgear support finally explained the issue on the second day.

A little tricky
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I took this item directly to the xfinity store after i bought it so they could add it to my account Which i would suggest for sure as it did make it a little easier It is very slow to re boot when you need to, as i had to do that several times after i got it home and was on the phone with infinity Taking it to the store did help but you still have to waste time on the phone with xfinity when hooking it up Be patient its a little slow to get it going, but works well when you finally get it done

Netgear cable modem
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used Netgear products for years and have been happy, I had to upgrade my gear because of lightning strike and I thought I’d buy and future proof voice modem and save on rental fee. Be warned this is NOT compatible with Cox.. do not bother, it will not work.Dont let an associate tell you otherwise. I went round and round and no success. I had to return it and get my $250 refund... I’m still renting .

A bit expensive, but working well
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a modem and it works well. What else might you need to know? Aside from that, it was purchased along with a mesh wifi system to replace the Xfinity Gateway. Since it's one of only a handful of options that includes phone support, it's a more expensive option than a modem should be. Working well after a month of use. Took a bit of time to set up via Xfinity phone support, but happy to be saving money over the long term, as compared to renting Xfinity's modem/router option.

Works great with Xfinity
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This modern has been working great and haven't had to restart it even touch it since I hooked it up. Much better then pay the $13 rental fee. Also this should work for years to come

Good modem for the price but...
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works well. But after two years, seems to be failing. Make sure you get the warranty. Its worth it.

Works Great
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great. Though if you get it, Comcast/Xfinity does not really like you to have your own modem. They always seem to blame the modem if they are having the issue. But if it lasts it will pay for itself instead of paying Comcast $15/month for the rental. I would suggest to buy the extended warranty to cover yourself in case it fails and you do not recover the savings you could get. It takes about 1.5 years to break even. However you have total control of the Modem and you can look at all the logs when issues / troubles arises from comcast.

Works with Xfinity, but....
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased to replace the $20+ / per month Xfinity modem with Voice for my 1 Gps service figuring that in a few months time it will pay for itself and since it's Netgear it will last for a long time beyond that. This modem paired easily to my service and the instructions were easy to follow. No need to contact Xfinity for help. After setup, with my computer directly connected I ran multiple speed tests with different services all with in my general area to assure ping rates were close. Found that this modem simply did not function the same as the Xfinity provided modem. Download rates were consistently 10% to 20% slower at all times of the day during peak and not peak usage times and upload never when higher that 6Mbps. With the Xfinity I am constantly at 35 Mbps and higher. To be fair, I cannot rule out that Xfinity somehow throttles back the service when not using their modems, but when I switched back to the Xfinity modem without reactivating, the speed jumped back up.

Fast But Lacks Battery Backup
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this modem because it was the only one I could find that supported Gig speeds and was approved for Xfinity Voice service. Overall, no technical issues and it works great - but living in FL where storms routinely knock out the power I wish it had its own battery backup for short power disruptions especially since it is installed in a telecom closet that is not anywhere near my full size UPS backup.
