Customers are saying

Customers find value in the Nighthawk 32 x 8 DOCSIS 3.1 Voice Cable Modem's ease of use, strong performance, and straightforward setup. Many appreciate its voice support and competitive price, particularly as an alternative to cable company rentals. However, some users experienced compatibility issues with certain internet providers and reported problems with the Ethernet ports. The lack of built-in Wi-Fi was also a recurring point of feedback.

You would be rather off buying the one with voice mail and wifi build in because if you do not .. than you will have to buy them separate and pay more money and you might need more than one router depending on the size of your house .

Netgear is great but this modem is not compatible with voice service on some providers i.e. Optimum. You must do research first.

I needed a modem with voice to stop paying the Comcast rental fee. I had a netgear router so I went with this modem. It stopped working after 3 months and smelled like burnt plastic and now cannot return. $265 dollars down the drain. Comcast had to come out. I went and bought an Arris model T25 from Target for $200 and had zero problems since. I also bought and Eero router just to get rid of the netgear router too. Very disappointed.

Not good if you need wifi reach to detached garage. Didnt even reach with wifi booster or extender. Save the head ache and get motorola modem, cheaper and no more head aches.

Bought this modem because it had xfinity internet & voice on the package and showed four ethernet ports. I could only get one port to work. I was not at all happy with the tech support from netgear or comcast, took forever to get through their automated phone systems and both seemed to blame each other. May work for a business that has multiple IP addresses but not good for residential where comcast provides only one IP address.

Really just hope this last pretty long, I don’t mind the price point for a good modem but was also expecting maybe something a little more sturdy feeling. As well a battery backup would have been great.

Purchased Jan132020. Started out great. Some random drops but no worries. Woke up today, March 24 2020, and now it won't keep anything longer than a second. I've reset, factory reset, unplug. NOTHING!!! On hold for 78 min so far and nothing. I only bought this because the Lady at Best Buy said it's the only thing that will allow our 1GB speed and phone.

I bought this item for the speed it advertises and cause it uses the 3.1 technology, but just to set it up was a hassle. Not impressed at all. It kept dropping connection and finally got it running a little better. The speed seems to be slower than my old one eventhough combat double speed. I also found out that only 1 rear output works for a router the other 3 rear outputs dont work , so I'm not able to hook my desktop to this thing. Hopefully netgear fixes this issue. When I call netgear about it, theyvact like they dont know about this issue. Not pleased.

Be advised that after a bunch of research and testing, only the first port really works with internet. The other 3 ports are worthless. I don’t know why they have 4 ports.

Bought this to replace Xfinity router that cost $14/mo. Took awhile even for network pro to get Comcast to activate. Still trying to get landline back up.

The router isn’t stable and often loses connection too much for my liking .... neither Netgear or the cable company will update the firmware to fix issues with the modem...

This modem resets continuously....when the telephone rings and the line is answered it resets the modem...dropping the call and internet goes down. The unfortunate issue is this is the only third party modem that is DOCSIS 3.1 with voice that works with xfinity. I am thinking of dropping the phone line and going to internet calling. Very frustrating and hours spent troubleshooting this issue. There are others having the same issue in the xfinity forums but no resolution from either Netgear or xfinity,

Looks like a good product by if Comcast will help bond/ lock the channels. They want you to rent their gateway, I guess.

Too new for Comcast to recognize, so it was tough to provision. Going on a month and the phone still doesn’t work.
