I had an Ethernet port fail within a few months and then the entire device gave out after 1.5 years, it replaced an Apple Time Capsule that was about 5ish years old at the time so I wasn't really please about it's short life.

This was an emergency purchase for a busy law firm who's router failed. It worked excellently for us and have had no problems at all.

We've had this for a few months now and it hasn't lost connection with any of the devices that have connected to it. I only give it 4 stars because we have one computer that has trouble connecting to it; 3 other computers, iPad, and iPhone have no issues with it.

Router finally died after 8 months preceded by intermittent failures for about 2 months. Had steady power amber light. After 90 days you have to pay for NetGear phone support to confirm you have a bad product unless you purchased a protection plan. Bought a competitor whole home wifi system to replace it instead. First router I purchased for personal use in 15 years to have a hardware failure. All personal routers before were retired because they were outdated. Doesn't speak well for the product quality, especially for the price.

This device failed. I suspect it was due to the confined space where it was located with other devices. The heat from all the devices was considerable.

Had a failed Linksys router (long range died) and this fixed the problem. I have a lot of smart home items and this router handles it all. It's great and looks kick butt too (yeah, very relevant).

Great router with excellent performance, a huge improvement over my Time Warner supplied unit. The power supply failed within the first three days of use, luckily I still had a spare from another router laying around. I hope to have a replacement power supply from netgear shortly, just haven't had time to contact them yet.

I bought this product to extend the wireless connection from my living room to my bedroom and home office. The product failed to take care of the problem so I had to move the router to the hallway to make the connections. . Complete waste of money and had to pay somebody to run the cabling for me.

I have been having issues with connectivity with my new 1900 routers. My latest attemp was the wrt1900 by linksys. This too failed the test. Finally I purchased the netgear r7000 abe the machine has performed flawlessly.

Best router we have had yet! We had a computer guy tell us that a lot of routers fail because of the constant pinging they get from cell phones on wifi and this was one that combats that problem and we have not had an issue with this one since. All of other ones start to fail around 6 months and this one is still going strong. We also have 8 things constantly pinging our router for wifi.

very unhappy with performance, as it drops signal on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands after 4-5 minutes, and continues to drop service and reconnect. I tried moving the unit but this didn't help, and all devices are well within range, as prior and lessor quality Cisco Router managed very well. Advice: GET EXTENDED WARRANTY; I didn't think I'd need it with such a high-end router though this proved to be a mistake. Now I have an expensive pile of rubbish, headed for the dumpster, and I'm back to leasing from the local telephone company, which was the whole point of buying this unit: to avoid those stupid monthly lease charges. I got burned: Lesson learned.

I make sure to buy at least the 2 year service plan on my routers. For some reason this router stopped working. my previous router was also a netgeer and it stopped working 1 month after my service plan expires. Now I will have to go and replace it. I was thinking about trying a different brand, but I already have the extender to go with it!

Tryed support but it was not effective. returned to Best Buy full refund no hassle. Best Buy gets 5 stars

    Apalling firmware problems

Product worked fine until I upgraded the firmware to pick up security fixes, and I have had unrelenting problems since. If you are considering this router, then do yourself a favor and check out the Netgear forum. The only way I can explain the firmware problems you will read about is poor QA. It feels like Netgear uses early adopters to identify significant problems such as wifi dropouts and router reboots. I just updated the firmware to current version (1.0.9.60) to resolve a problem where the router was rebooting every 10 minutes. The upgrade seems to have resolved this, but this never occurred with 1.0.9.42, and I have no explanation as to why rebooting the router with .42 failed to resolve the problem. Bottom line is that I have no faith in Netgear's ability to support this product.

Netgear warranty is horrid. They want you to pay $90 just to help you, even though it is under waranty. I bought anothe of the same model, and it did fix the problem, but Netgear would not replace the original unless I pay them 2/3 the cost of a new one. ABSOLUTELY NO MOE NETGEAR FOR ME ! Also DDWRT does not run well on it. Throughput drop to about 20 MB. Forums are full of complaints.

I've a small house and even though I used the best routers and modems (tried many over the years after reading tons of reviews and speaking to many tech support people) but my connection was always super erratic, whether it was with Verizon or TWC, with speeds going from 20 mbps to no connection at all for hours and hours. It seems something is causing interference but no tech expert can determine WHAT (supposedly the equipment to determine that is too expensive). After many many years of trying various providers and products, this was suggested by a supervisor at TWC (after I blew a gasket) and it actually made a diffference! I told him I wish I'd been told about this product years ago. The connection is still not 100% stable speed-wise (there is still some unknown factor that is causing interference), but since using this, I've never been completely disconnected and unable to reconnect to the Internet. Fingers crossed that it keeps working, because at the prices TWC charges, I was paying a fortune for a really poor connection. I've had better connections in out of the way third world countries, so I'm always amazed at how bad and unstable connections are here... Anyway, I'd definitely recommend trying this product when experiencing problems and all other Wireless N routers, range expanders, etc. have failed.
