This isn't a bad router, but periodically it "forgets" the password and must be reset. Works well most of the time.

Great product performance overall. The only issue is that it started resetting around the three month mark. I had purchased GSP and was thankfully able to exchange it for an ASUS AC 1900 that works just as well.

I bought this router just because of all the great reviews but as stated by other users, the router begins to deteriorate after a few months. Download speed after a fresh reset goes to 300mb like normal. A few minutes later 0.25mb/s. Good thing I bought the protection plan for this purpose

We purchased this to replace the router provided to us by our internet provider. We had problems when multiple devices were using the internet, it would need reset. This router has not had to be reset one time since we've had it.

So iv'e had this unit for a few months now and after having issues with the first one, not being able to log into settings without resetting box, the second one has been working with no problems. I will say that the speed from wifi is not super great I have a 500mbps and only recive around 290mbps thru wifi. The router is within 20 feet of computer in clear view. However this unit works really good and I would recomend it

The router is easy to set up and get going. The auto channel selection doesn't work so it put me on channel 6 along with every other person in the apartment complex. But it isn't like any router's auto-select works so that isn't too big of a deal. I just reset it manually after scanning the channels.

I bought this to update from my old router. Installing is simple. Choosing the specific settings might take some time. The first day streaming Netflix or Xbox was not improved. I then changed setting in the QoS. Still did not really improve. Strange thing, when I reset my modem everything improved. I have done several resets of the modem before and nothing improved. Before Netflix used to stop every 10-15 minutes, often more. Since I bought it I experienced maybe 2 hickups and the device regained connection immediately. It cost more than I originally wanted to spend, but I'm happy I did.

This router is great. Handles excessive high speeds easily. The only pain point I dealt with was the speed limiting feature. It created inconsistencies so I had to factory reset. Ever since then, nothing but great output.

This is our 3rd router to try and address drop in signals, slow response and frequent "reset/reboots" of routers in 2 story home. We finally found the PERFECT one in this NetGear model. No drops in internet connectivity, finally speed in a supposed to be "high Speed" network. Have not had to reset or reboot router since installing it in November. Highly recommend this model and glad I took my techie son's advice!

I bought this to improve my wireless signal. They distance was awesome but after 2 weeks it would drop out over and over again and the only thing that would fix it is unplugging everything and doing hard resets. I tried calling customer service and waited on hold for over an hour for help. When they picked up my call I was disconnected. I took it back to BB and bought anothe brand.

My previous router was working great until Comcast upped the speed. Noticed I would have to unplug and reset the router repeatedly, peak usage times we would give up. Netflix would buffer and stall to the point we would give up. Since setting up this product we have had no lags in speed, have yet to need to reset the router. We have 4 wired and 5 wireless devices and have had no issues as of yet.

We had another, older NETGEAR that was about 6 years old. It kept losing the internet and needed to be reset MANY times a day. This was a step up in speed and simplicity of installation. It only took about 15 min. for a 65+ year old to set up. We've had it for about 2 months with 4 people running at least 10 net connected things (including a custom game computer) with no down time nor slowdowns that I'm aware of.

I have always used Netgear and when I moved up to fiber I wanted a router capable of handling higher speeds. No knock against Best Buy, they kept replacing the Nighthawks I bought. I had 3 of them in less than 3 months. All of them I was having to constantly reboot, and when they were working I was getting 97 or 98 mbps. All 3 of them quit working completely within a matter of a couple weeks, just going completely dark, and the reset did no good. I have gone to a Netgear 12 and have no problems with it.

Nighthawk app trashed my Motorola android

The only instructions to setup this router requires downloading the netgear nighthawk-app to your phone. No manual, no link to a webpage. After finally seemingly getting the app on my Motorola to talk to the router and get it configured, my phone no longer could find any wifi networks. Eventually I connected an ethernet cable to the router to complete the setup using 192.168.1.1. I had to hard reset my mobile. Very poor netgear software app and crummy instructions

This router has excellent range and my speed has improved. I used to get spotty range on the 5g channel with my older Netgear router but this one has a strong signal with 5g where I didn't get one before. When I first installed this Nighthawk, I did the setup and there was an update that I installed. After setting it up, it worked great when it was working but it kept going offline constantly and I would have to keep unplugging it to get it to work. By the second day I was so frustrated and dreading that I would have to return it but as a last resort I did a hard reset(use a pin and press in the tiny hole in back) and haven't had a problem since. I would suggest you do a hard reset after any update.

Worked wonderfully 1 year ago...Not anymore

I bought this Netgear R7000 Nighthawk router in late 2016/early 2017 from Best Buy. It worked wonderfully well for about a year or so. Once I made the mistake of upgrading the firmware (for "security fixes"), the WiFi performance degraded significantly. It's to the point that it's much faster for me to use the data plan on my cell phone provider, rather than go through my home's WiFi connection. And I'm paying for a very high-speed connection at home. I've tried resetting the router to factory settings, and turning off add-on features, but the WiFi is still uber slow and painful. Several other users have posted similar stories on Netgear's support boards, but there's no answer from Netgear if they're ever going to solve the problem.

Worked great for 6 Months then it decided to update the firmware! it got a virus in the firmware during the update that completely broke it can't even turn it on. The reset button on the back doesn't work either. After spending 2 hours with support (no help) they told me they can fix it for $279! I paid $150. Was told that the warranty was only good for 3 months mine was 6 months old and it doesn't cover updates to the firmware which are automatic? I will not buy another NETGEAR Wi-Fi Router again.
