I've been paying for high internet speeds and only reaching a 1/4 of the limit. I have had my old router for over 10years with no problems, but after the cable technician said that my old router just doesn't have the capability to reach the speeds I am paying for, we decided to make the purchase. I was concerned what brand would work well with the equipment provided by Time Warner Cable (now Spectrum). A friend at work and I were talking about routers and she mentioned she just installed this model and it works great. I purchased it solely on the fact of its proven compatibility with the existing equipment provided by the cable company. There were other options that were less money with very comparable data transfer rates. I have about 11 items within the home that requires or accesses wirelessly. I thought this installation would be a simple plug and play. Absolutely wrong! The phones connected seamlessly, but the other equipment was difficult to connect. I spent over 2-1/2hrs on hold for NetGear Support only to have the line disconnected. Spent another hour or so before I finally got through to Tech Support only for them to say it was MY equipment and I would have to pay $80 for a service plan for them to help me. I started the call to Tech Support around 9am and didn't get everything connected until well after 5pm! It was the Mfg of my other equipment that was able to finally get me connected. The equipment is also in a very unusual shape making mounting this difficult or having to take up valuable desk/counter/etc space to leave sitting out somewhere. Although it is now working as expected, it was not without some heartache along the way. I am also not thrilled with their customer service. My choice to not recommend this product is due to their lack of customer service. I do have some technical knowledge, but I did need help. The purchase wasn't even a few days old when I called for support, so to have them ask for money to help me get connected didn't sit well. My other router was a Belkin and although the model was outdated, after almost 10 yrs their customer service would help me anytime I had connectivity issues.

For years I’ve been looking for a solution to allow me to stream content from the wireless router (downstairs) to the bedroom (upstairs and at the opposite end of the house. I’ve tried various wireless extenders and received mixed results. (All of which did not meet my home networking needs) Home setup: Previous Router (Linksys EA6700 Connecting off one the the ethernet ports is a Cisco 24 Port Gigabit Switch Devices connecting to the Cisco Switch are: - (2) DLINK (4) TB NAS - (1) HP Multi-Function Printer - (1) HP BW Printer - (1) VOIP phone - (2) Laptops - (2) Gaming systems (1) XBOX 350 and (1) PS3 From a Wireless Perspective: (3) TV’s with Chromecast (2) Boxee Box (9) Various devices ranging from smart phones, iPads, Samsung Tablets, and family member laptops. To me the challenge was having a good enough Quality of Service network speeds, when I had guest over and wanting to stream content from my NAS’s. The previous router worked only when I had to tell my family NOT to go onto the network and I had to prioritize the device depending on the room we were entertaining in. (You can see how that got old really fast) Tired of manually managing the bandwidth as home; I broke down and purchased the NetGear NightHawk AC 1900 Dual Bank Wi-Fi Gigabit Router (R7000) It was the best move that I could have made given my infrastructure needs. I’ve had the router for 3 months and have not experienced any performance issues to date. The only issue I had when upgrading my infrastructure was in the area of VoIP setup It took a bit of searching on the web to determine how to configure my VoIP phone. I discovered that the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Application Level Gateway (ALG) is enabled by default to optimize VoIP calls that use SIP. (All I had to do was disable that config and we all were happy campers) All in all this is a very good router for the price. It has enough features and configurable settings to be customize for your home infrastructure; and also providing a secure and optimize networked infrastructure.

I got the router to replace an Asus type N from 2007. I felt a newer router should provide better speed and finally be able to cast one ID for both frequencies. Also parental controls on the old router only provided half hour incremenrs. Off the bat, the new router prevented Apple devices from accessing some web sites, usually secure sites or just random sites. Internet was also sluggish. Called support and had to spell out everything because the call center is in a foreign country. Changing the DNS address fixed the web site issue... Parental controls stopped working.. Not that I used them because they are the same and don't work with secure sites such as YouTube. But... If you pay a monthly fee, Disney circle can block anything... But it costs money... So no thanks. I had to unjoin the bands because everything jumped on the 5hz band which is faster, but limits the range and I kept seeing my devices using cell antenna... The house is 1200 sq/ft. The old repeater isn't compatible with this router, so it's another espense. The alexas keep disconnecting, losing their wifi settings. I had to issues with this in the past. So to resume... Buying this new router hasn't Improved anything.

Bought this router due to the fact that my old one was very outdated. Also I bought a new 4K TV and my old router had a problem staying connected to the intenet. After numerous calls to Netgear, Best Buy and Samsung my new Netgear router was still having problems staying connected. All various support claimed it was a problem with my internet provider. Called them and they ran various tests and said all connections were working fine and in addtion my other devices had no problem connecting and staying connected. After about a month or so of going back and forth with everyone involved and found no answers, decided to experiment with the settings myself. Afte some experimentation I found a setting that worked and fixed my problem permanently. It was a setting I was told by everyone not to touch and keep it at the default setting. So therefore I will not say it is bad router, it works great and speed is just fine for all I have hooked up to it and room to spare. I came to the conclusion that since my TV was new to the market, all techs involved in trying to solve the problem were not familiar with it. I was frustrated with everyone and almost took the router back. But then I began to think....we are dealing with electronic devices. When something new comes out such as the TV, just maybe no one is up to speed on troubleshooting. My biggest frustration was with Samsung TV who claimed the TV is not meant to work on dual band routers. Which was ridiculous since all new routers are dual band or more. I reported my findings back to Netgear on a trouble ticket I had that they were about to close since they could not fix the problem. According to them the setting I used should not have been changed and this is the first time they heard that this setting fixed the problem. They thanked me for me input and would share the information with their techs in the event this happens again. So maybe I gave some inisght to Netgear. In the end in spite of the frustrations I had, I have read many reviews where many had no problems with setup. So was mine a fluke? I guess so but in the end all is fine and router is doing a great job.

    Handles AirPlay and iPad poorly

    1. I have 2 Apple Airport Expresses that drive speakers. One of them wouldn't work at all with the Netgear R7000 router. We had had some problems with it in the past, so I just thought maybe it's time was up. The other one worked ok for a few days, but then started having dropouts. Occasional at first, then every few minutes. Sometimes it would drop out for a minute or even 10 minutes, then start playing again. With the other problems (see below# I decided to swap out the new one and go back to my old Linksys router. Bingo! Both expresses work just fine straming music via AirPlay with NO dropouts. 2. One cool feature of the Netgear is that it has backup software to back up to the attached external USB 3.0 drive. Got it set up on my 3 computers and it seemed great. I could access the backed up files from my iPad or phone #with the computers off# -- great for pictures! Then I went to show a picture to my wife and hmm, it wasn't there. I got to checking and my guess is that about 10% of files #random in many directories# were not backed up! What?? Nothing special about them -- .jpg, same date range as others in the directory.... 3. Our iPads have been sluggish since we got the new router and this weekend it was worse and was really driving my wife crazy. After the swap back to the old router, bingo again, everything is snappy, wife happy. 4. Probably the #1 reason I got the Netgear over the Apple in the first place was because the Netgear has an AirPlay server built in. No need to have a computer running. While it did actually work #max 10,000 songs) with the iPad Remote app, it was clunky, and again with the Airport Express problems, was unusable for playing music. 5. Minor, but adding to the overall dissatisfaction, was on the Network map, it showed wired clients as wireless and vice versa, AND different each time. What?? 6. With various problems popping up I rebooted the router a lot. My expectation is just to have it there and forget about it. Returned it and got an Apple Airport Extreme. Have to return it tomorrow. I'll do a review on it on the Extreme page.

Bought to support multiple Xbox Ones

I am an IT specialist with 12 years of experience in troubleshooting network issues. After quite a bit of research I decided to buy the Netgear Nighthawk for my roommates and I. There are three of us in the house and we all have our own Xbox Ones. We needed a reliable router with the capability of running all three of our Xbox Ones with an Open NAT while being able to handle our network traffic. All three of us also stream to twitch.tv so we definitely needed a high router to keep up with everything going on. We currently have a Comcast plan with 50mbs down and 10mbs up. On our speed tests we are actually receiving 100mbs down, and 10mbs up. This is probably due to the fact that the area is not densely populated, but we did not receive these speeds on our last router. Set up is easy and the Netgear app is useful as well. I think my only complaint is that the antennae tend to lean over time. As for connecting multiple Xboxes to the router, there is no extra configuration necessary. We do seem to run into an issue every now and then when all three Xboxes are using a wired connection. I let my roommates play on the wired connection and just use the wireless. All of our Xboxes are in the same room as the router and I don't really notice any issues with lag running on the wireless. Our peak usage includes: - 3 Xbox Ones (2 wired, one wireless) 2 of which use the twitch app on the Xbox to Stream - 2 Laptops on wireless viewing the twitch streams, one of the laptops is also used to stream to twitch with an Elgato Capture Card - 1 desktop using wired connection that is being used to view the streams - all 3 of our cell phones which are connected through the wireless - we also do a little bit of web surfing while streaming too The Netgear Nighthawk handles all of it without missing a beat. Occasionally we reset the router and modem to refresh the network but generally I wouldn't say its really necessary. The Wireless coverage is also very good and covers our house, but it's not a very big place so I wasn't worried about that as much. If you're looking for a higher end router or a good solution for running multiple Xboxes on your network I highly recommend buying this router.

Let me preface this by saying that I've only had this a few days so reliability is yet to be determined. If you need versatile VPN functionality you might be better with an ASUS, as the VPN ability of this router and others in this category (such as the D-link 1900 model# are limited. It is worth noting that it seems the newest firmware has fixed most of the issues that have been reported on the internet #including the signal dropping). That aside, this is a great router so far. It has great signal speed and range. It hasn't dropped a signal yet. I love being able to use the 5 GHz band for my devices that offer that option #note: the range on this band will be about half of the 2.4 GHz band - this is with all routers#. Your other hardware will be the limitation for speed between it and the router, not the router. I used to have "page can't be displayed" messages all the time when going to different web sites and would have to reload pages, but not anymore. It looks great, but is big. It runs much cooler than I expected #people saying the ASUS runs really hot is one reason I went with the Netgear#. The Genie software is easy to use and provides a lot of functionality, including seamless firmware updating. There is even an app you can get for Apple or Android products that gives much of the functionality of the computer version of the software. Set-up was more complicated than I'd like, but this router has much more functionality than any other router I've had. If you are computer literate you will figure it out if you take your time #and the instructions that come with it are pretty good#. It is DLNA compliant which makes it great for playing music over the network on my Pioneer Elite receiver.

I have used this router about a week to replace my old gaming WNDR3700. It was getting to where it needed to be reset daily to keep connections. The Nighthawk comes with the network already set up for you. It's so easy to set up a real tech noob can do it in about 10 mins. All you really have to do is go in and set new network names and change passwords via the settings app or webpage. First off, This thing looks cool like a spaceship. The LED's can be turned off or on via the app or web page which is cool for night time use. I am a heavy internet user. Between me and my son we use 2 xbox one's and 2 xbox 360's. Also an alienware x51, blueray player, 4 smart phones, ipad and and 2 laptops. I haven't had one hiccup yet. All my nats are open on every console after i did a firmware update and then a reset to defaults via the reset button on back of router. I use the 5ghz band for my wireless xboxs and alienware x51 for gaming and streaming. I use the 2.4 ghz band for smart phones etc. 5ghz is better for in house high media usage but has less range. my 2.4 ghz will easily reach a block and a half down the road. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. I researched this thing for a bit before purchasing it comparing it to all the new linksys and asus routers of the same specs. I chose this one basically due to my longevity using netgear products and the fact that it has a dual core 1ghz processor inside. This is a bit pricey but i am a believer in you get what you pay for. If you want good performance you have to pay for it. It's well worth the price. Hope this helps and makes your choice easier when shopping for the best router.

I live in a 2200 sq. ft. home and I needed a router that would provide good WiFi signal coverage all throughout. The solution is this Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 R7000 router. DESIGN: I really love the design of the router's exterior with the angled surfaces and antennas. It gives it an appearance of a stealth fighter which is really cool and sets it apart from most routers which have a plain looking outside. I like the included USB 3.0 port for speedier storage although I wish it were located on the rear of the unit rather than front; small issue for me. PERFORMANCE: I have a 200 mbps download and 35 mbps upload package with Optimum. My desktops, tablets and iPhone on the far ends of the second floor get about 180-200 mbps download and about 35 upload with this Netgear router. The range is really great and I have tried other router brands where extenders would be needed to get optimal speeds. Streaming Netflix, Amazon HD videos is fast and instantaneous to load. MANAGEMENT: Administering the router's settings is straightforward enough for intermediate users. The Netgear app is nice to use but limits the advanced settings tweaking by a lot so web based configuring is still preferred. I am using the DD-WRT firmware for this router and it works great with software updates every month. CONCLUSION: This is the best wireless router I have ever used. It is worth every penny I paid for it and it has provided me with great service the past few years. The range is incredible considering the walls and flooring the signals have to penetrate in my house. Connections are extremely stable with reconnects being very rare and speeds are about optimal. Solid value. I cannot recommend this enough. PROS: +Outstanding Range +Very Fast Speeds +Extremely Stable Connections +Sleek looking design that stands out CONS: -Netgear Firmware laggy -Netgear Mobile App has very limited settings

I purchased this router in an attempt to max out my internet d/u speed through my internet provider and expand the wi-fi range in my fairly large home. After performing the rather easy installation process, I managed to get all of my wireless and wired devices connected with little to no problems. I then performed multiple speed tests near and further away from the router and compared to the router I used to have the range goes much, much further. The upstairs room above where the router is still manages to reach on or near 100 percent signal strength which is fantastic compared to my old router (Cisco E2000, a pretty good router btw). As I move around the house the signal strength fluctuates of course, but it almost never reaches below 50% even in a far away room. Also, I was getting around 12 MBPS max download speed while paying for 20 from time warner before getting this router. I first upgraded to this router while keeping the leased modem through TWC and I was getting around 17-18 which was a big improvement, but thought it could do better. So I got myself a nice new modem for even better speed, and to get out of paying for TWC stupid modem lease nonsense, and the max download speed now EXCEEDS 20 MBPS. This router is definitely a bit on the expensive side if you ask me, and I was really debating between this one and the Apple Airport Extreme and the newer Asus. But after looking into it pretty extensively on the internet I found that the Nighthawk got the most positive rave out of them all. So if you have the extra 200+ dollars to spend on a new router def consider the Netgear Nighthawk. and make sure you have a solid modem as many times the modems that are given to you by your provider do not max out your speed even close to what it can. So if this is the case try and get urself a new router (check IP website for compatible modems) as well and this will really max out ur internet speed.

    NOT for a noob torrrenter

    Posted
    Lancelight

This is an EXCELLENT product for power users of Torrents, Video streaming (OUT, not watching), etc. Basically if you use more than 30MBit of bandwidth, this router makes sense to use. However, do NOT expect stellar performance right out of the box. It's not going to happen. With this router you should be able to peg your connection with both Up AND Downstreams and not lose any latency for SSH, Most Games, Web Browsing, VoIP, or Video Streaming (in or out). To get this thing to scream you MUST enable the QoS options within the UI. Without it you're going to be dropping packets all over the place. I have a 50MBit Downstream and 5MBit upstream. I am only able to peg it AND browse the web without getting any pages timing out if QoS is enabled. Without QoS you will notice web pages time out, SSH is slow as freakin molasses, and VoIP calls will drop left and right (IE: skype or Vonage like service). The WiFi connection is not that great although I did not need WiFi since all my devices are wired anyway due to my low latency requirement. Anyone running games will know that latency == lost games. Thus WiFi == Autoloss vs decent players with wired connections. Dont run WiFi no matter what it is if you're a competitive gamer that plays games that suffer from latency issues such as a FPS. RTS games like Warcraft 2 dont care about latency as the game will pause and wait for other low latency players to catch up. Overall I am satisfied with this product, but I can totally see non-technical people bringing this product back complaining about packet loss/slow connections, etc because QoS is disabled by default. I needed a router that could saturate my 50MBit connection without losing any latency. I previously ran a Linux IPTables setup that blows this thing out of the water, but the poor computer died and I wanted to see if todays routers could compete with it (I was very skeptical). This router does a good enough job but it did require some tinkering to get it to shine. My old Linux box is now retired after 13 great years of use as a router :( *Queue up sad song*

this is a fine upgrade from my wndr4500(n900) wireless n router.when I use turtlebeach headset I experience no interference, like when I used my old wndr4500 or asus routers. this router has a powerful cpu(1ghz).256 ram per core(dual core). I recommend viewing the threads on netgears website. there is a list of compatable hdd to use with usb3.0 also when using advance qos downstream, the directions warn you this feature will cause problems with other applications. so I turned mine off. the advanced qos upstream is nice and runs a speedtest for you in the qos settings. there is a firmware update available.i run speedtests and I get good results. sometimes I need to reset the router because I live in a busy neighborhood. the gigabit lan connection works better with cat 6 wires then the wndr4500. I gave it 4 stars because of the qos downstream and the usb 3.0 problem. i do not use wifi ac, but this router outperforms previous and current ac routers. i will be keeping this router guaranteed. internet seems more stable compared to v600 and n900 routers, and asus routers. i have over 17 devices that connect including smart tvs surround sound i pads xbox ones and 360 , smart phones and laptops, blurays and a printer... it performs as expected. i was looking for something like this for 4 years now. and with the advance qos upstream capability this is the first true gaming router compared to other routers which this technology did not exist.

the unit itself does ok. The support at the store is limited to asking if I called the help line. I did after I got the replacement unit. That call overseas shocked me with the stupidity of NETGEAR's phone service. All I wanted to know was how to get the unit to interact with all of my equipment. There was no instillation manual and the help line guy wanted me to send pictures of the sn but could not tell me which of 4 numbers was the SN, wanted other information taken as pictures and sent to them and they would get back to me in 2 to 3 days. My response, I paid 200 dollars for a router that is not talking to my computer and you want me to wait 3 days and send you all sorts of information. No way, I will take the unit back and buy another brand. I finally started google izing for a solution. Took a while to find a reference. You see, you can not google, you can not send email, you can not do anything, get this, if your router does not talk to your computer. As it is, the company forces me to go through a step to get to the internet and monitors what I click to. Why do I need big brother when big brother can not even figure out how to help me with my problem on the phone? Now, when I click on a link, it takes longer to connect because there is an intermediate screen that flashes that the site is unavailable.

I don't normally write reviews , however i had to write this one. I purchased this to replace an old Linksys Cisco E3000 router that completely stopped working. So this time I did some research and wanted to find something that delivered a better signal range and speed than what I use to have and this one fit the bill by delivering extremely high results. It is installed in the same location as my dead Linksy E3000. I must tell you that the is this router to purchase , very easy to setup. I consistently have. 5 bars through out my whole house and I have a two story home and this NETGEAR AC 1900 R7000 Smart WiFi covers a broader area of the house and delivers nothing but 5 bar signal strength and speed for all of our online gaming, streaming of movies, iPads , MacBooks , iPhones , samsung smart TVs and webserver etc. I have a totals of 17 devices connected at one time without loosing a beat. Signal strength stays strong y I have nothing by high marks for this router and has for those bad reviews all I have to say about that is either they got a defective router and I suggest get a replacement or they are not tech savvy or just hard to please. Because you can't please everyone. Then again someone is always going to say something bad about any product. But trust me I have been in the information technology field for over 30 years and this Netgear AC 1900 router is very easy to set up just like plug-and-play, very robust and reliable. You do have to set the admin password and change it as soon as you set it up from the default password. Don't listen to the bad reviews and let it deter you from purchasing this router. It is expensive however if you can afford it I would highly recommend you get it , because you get what you pay for and that's quality and reliability. You will not regret this purchase!

Bought this along with Netgear Model:CM1000-100NAS cable modem for my Xfinity 400 mbps service and to solve some connection problems I was having with their current equipment, mainly the XB6 modem/router. Installation was easy and comcast activated the equipment on their end. I setup separate 2.4 and 5g connections so I could set up a sleep number bed I was having connection issues with using Xfinity's equipment. Ran speed tests after setup and only had about 120 mbps download on 5g whereas I was about 280 mbps using Xfinity's XB6. Changed the channel in the router settings and instant improvement to around 390 mbps on 5g and 98 mbps on 2.4g. Both were good improvements from previous equipment. Highly satisfied so far and also resolved sleep number bed connection issues as well as an issue with a new Neato vacuum. Love the app for setting what's connected to both channels.

I recently moved to a different ISP and their modem had an integrated router included. Even though we went from 3mbs to 12mbs speed, our streaming experience was horrible with low quality pictures and intermittent drops of programing. Even worse, our web browsing was slower and sometimes lost connection. I purchased the Nighthawk and placed the modem in bridge mode and instantly saw a major difference. Web pages popped to the screen in a blink of the eye and web searches were lighting fast. We were now able to stream HD content from our roku with minimal wait time and no buffering during the remainder of the show. Compared to other routers I've had, the signal range of the NightHawk is far superior. The router is located on the opposite side of the house from our entertainment system, but we can still get full bars for signal strength and have no problems streaming content. The dual bands provided by the router let's all my devices, old and new, take advantage of whatever bands they can handle, and I've not had one device drop from our home network. Adding a USB hard drive is as simple as just plugging it in to the router, then you can access the drive over your network by just mapping to it. Now, there is no reason to NOT backup your critical data. On the down side, if you want to set up dynamic DNS, Netgear does provide a way to do that, but I found the process to be way too complicated and the documentation on how to do it didn't go into enough detail. Also, the Netgear genie app seemed more showy than actually helpful to me. All in all, I feel this router has a great deal to offer in speed, range and quality of service. For the price it certainly delivers on its promise.

Now that almost everything is wifi based in our house. Our wifi has dragged for years. We had one of those stupid modem and router setups from the cable company and those are the worst setups you can have. It was super old, as we have had it for prob more the 5 years and it had a really low speed capacity. Although, every time we complained they would bump us to a "higher" connection speed and charge us more bc clearly we didn't understand at the time that we still weren't getting the performance that we were paying for because of the limitations of the box. But we finally got up on game. This has been one of the better purchases this year. We found this and disconnected the wifi portion of the dual box from the cable company. Now we only use their box as the modem. BEST MOVE EVER! No more buffering, no more lagging, no more stuttering, no more switching off the wifi on our iPhones, iPads, laptops, and no more cursing out the wifi, and throwing adult fits about how horrible the connection is. We can add so many more wifi enabled items to our home without worrying about slow connections, or the wheel of death on our laptops or phones. Such a great feeling. It is large but still visually pleasing and the lights light up white if you care about that sort of thing. We hide all of our stuff so it won't be seen but if we couldn't it wouldn't be that hideous sitting out somewhere minus the three antenna. Easy setup and worked right away, once we learned how to turn off the wifi portion of our previous dual setup. Call your cable/wifi company if you need help. It's been over a month now and we still are extremely happy with this purchase. Highly recommend it.

Bought this product to replace my old $60 Netgear WNDR3400v2 because I wanted increased range and speeds. I assumed replacing it with this Nighthawk router that is triple the price would get me what I wanted, but was unpleasantly surprised when it didn't. Similar easy setup and easy to navigate UI of all the other Netgear routers. PROS: - Significantly increased my wired internet connection speed (almost 3x) CONS: - Admin UI load time seemed slower than my old router - Reduced range for both 2.4 and 5ghz bands when compared to the old Netgear router - Poor download speeds over WiFi. Either the same or worse than my old router - Constant disconnect issues on the WiFi The WiFi performance of this router is absolutely unacceptable. I can't even keep my new Yogo 920 laptop connected to it because it keeps dropping connection. I had to re-install my old router to even be able to get the laptop to have a reliable connection. Now as I search the internet about the WiFi connection issues of this router, I see it is a common issue that plagues users of this router. Would not recommend. Very disappointed. Am hoping Netgear or Best Buy will improve the situation by offering some sort of replacement or refund.

I love this router. I was having trouble with my internet and my internet provider told me I needed a new router. I went to Best Buy and the guy told me if I was doing a lot of movie streaming (we don't have dish or cable, just use Roku to stream everything) that I needed a gaming router that was really fast. He talked me into this one. I was sure he just did it because I was a woman and he figured he could "upsell" me. When I got it home, the instructions said it was really easy. Again, I was thinking to myself, "sure, that's what these devices always say". It took a couple of tries for the router and my internet dish to find each other, but once they did, it was amazing. The app popped up on my ipad and completely walked me through the entire process. It even upgraded the firmware. The connection on 3 TVs, 3 Rokus, 2 computers, an Ipad and 2 cell phones, was the easiest I have ever had. My internet works great and never stops to buffer. I don't get kicked off anymore, and the internet pages load super fast. My spouse, who works from home, had stopped working from home because the internet was so slow. But with this router, he has started working from home again and says that the internet is working super fast for him. I am so glad the guy at Best Buy recommended this router. It has made an amazing difference in my internet speed, streaming movies and music. LOVE IT!

I purchased this device after buying several Linksys AC routers. I currently live in a two floor condo and I could not find a router that would reach the master bedroom on the second floor. The previous route I had purchased (Linksys AC1200+) did a good job with reaching my room, but failed in giving me good speed. I only reached 5.5Mbps which is terrible. Once I hooked up my new Nighthawk I checked the strength and speed in my room and it was far beyond anything I expected. I am getting close to 30Mbps, which was 6 times more than my previous router. When i test the speed near the router, i get around 50Mbps. The range in my room is now outstanding and get almost full bars with every device. I currently run around 8 devices on my wireless network at any particular time and all my devices run smooth without any interruption in service. Netflix runs smooth with no lag, my Xbox live connection is amazing, and downloading speeds are incredible (though I know ISP regulates my speed). One minor downside with the Nighthawk for me is that it is a little on the big side. So finding a spot to put this thing can be tough. Although you can wall mount it, so that could be helpful. Something else is having the USB 3.0 port in the front. I am not too fond of having my storage device sticking out in the front. I did read on a few reviews that the reason they did that was so the port did does not interfere with the wireless signal. Not sure if that is true but could be. Besides those two minor things, the router is exceptional and does everything I want it to do. It also comes with some extra features such as the use of VPN and also media features. Overall the Nighthawk is a great device with many features and you will not regret purchasing this router!
