I got this to so that my desktop PC can go wireless and it works great so far. I plugged this adapter into my usb 3.0 slot and have been very happy with the performance while using the wifi network in my home.

This product works well in my network with better range than my old adapter and compatible with my modem's router without a third party router. So an upgrade that works. Setup was easy, too.

Over the last couple years the number of 2.4Ghz access points visible on my Wi-Fi Analytics software has quadrupled !!!. I installed the A7000 on my XEON Workstation and moved the single band WNA3100 to the desktop. The Genie software is easy to use, but is a Pain under WIndows 10 . Genie brags in notifications every time the system returns from sleepy-sleep and is redundant. I recommend installing the driver ONLY if you understand how... The magnetic base is nice.. I have yet to add the dual band router, however the connection is better on 2.4. Wrong adaptor to plug directly INTO your USB 3.0 on a laptop. However, when we travel the internal 2.4 on the my laptop many times may NOT get a decent connection at the hotel. That base positioned for max signal will really help.

With my older 2.4/5ghz adapters, my connection speed and ping were having some trouble getting to my upstairs office. My initial speed test with this adapter yielded 360 Mbps download and 37 Mbps upload speeds, the same as when connected through ethernet. This is the most my ISP will allow. This is accomplished by using the adaptor to connect to the second, less-congested 5GHz frequency. Since the adapter is much, much larger than its forebears, it also includes a magnetic cradle. Even though it takes up a small amount of desk space, this is better than protruding out of the machine. This adapter is so large that it would obstruct other USB ports if not used in a cradle. The fact that the device is not plug-and-play is significant. I had to go to the Netgear website and download the driver software in order to enable the device. This made the gadget functional, but it also called for the installation of quite shabby-looking Netgear software. Compared to other items, the driver software was reasonably simple to download and install. Although this adaptor is pricey, early tests indicate that it is worthwhile.

I didn’t realize how big these were when I bought them, but they are gigantic! The do work, and have a great range on them. I was having some connection issues in my upstairs, and these really helped.

I used this wifi adapter for a wireless network. If you buy a computer built from a company it comes with a wifi adapter. This wifi adapter could be used to increase wifi speeds or just to have a wireless network for custom built pc's. If buying this product without wifi on your device: 1. Find another computer 2.Download drivers onto a flash drive https://www.netgear.com/support/product/A7000.aspx#Software%20Version%201.0.0.15%20(Windows) - download based off system. 3.Boot up your computer and plug the flash drive in. 4.Open up the folder and open the installer. 5. Follow the steps and you're all set. 6.Connect to wifi in bottom left corner. This Wifi Adapter gives me; 260 mega bits download speed

My router, by necessity is located a good distance away from my computer. The NightHawk increased by internet speed from 50 to 120. It is easy to set up, the software is great. I would recommend to anyone.

I've had this for almost a month and I have it down in a basement and hanging horizontally from a door hinge(the only metal I could find for the magnet bottom).the signal has to pass up through the floor and all the way across the house to the router. Signal is full bars and no loss of speed or signal. It is doing exactly as described. I was really worried about the signal to my PC I have in the basement and I have a full fledged smart home where there's a million things running off wifi and this thing doesn't disappoint.

Super fast, just seems a little too bulky. If your not using the cradle and plugging straight into the side of your laptop it puts stress on your USB ports as well as covers an addition usb slot you could be using.
