I was looking for a Wi-Fi USB adapter that is capable of transmitting at 1300 Mbps. I found this one. It matched very well with the AC1900 routers we have. The set up is easy by running Netgear Genie and insert the adapter in a USB port! Total time spend, about 8-10 minutes from unpacking and fully operational! In fact, we purchased four more after our initial testing.

We recently moved into a place that has no internet wiring in the upstairs bedrooms which means everything in that area (TVs, Laptops, Computer) has to run on WIFI with the routers being downstairs. I'd just purchased a new Desktop computer for my child for schooling, etc. and it was just sitting there useless. I skimmed the Best Buy website reading reviews and chose this because it had pretty good reviews. It was REALLY easy to install and set up. Our desktop is working perfectly. We have had almost no drag, pause or freezing so far. I'm happy with the purchase.

A7000: does what it does very well

I purchased the Netgear A7000 so I could by-pass my computer Wi-FI card & use Wi-Fi 5 802.11ac instead of Wi-Fi 4 802.11n. With “n” I was getting 50 to 60 Mbps at best. By using the A7000 & by-passing the Wi-Fi card, my Mbps downloads have been consistently 165 to 175 Mbps. My signal strength was also significantly strengthened.
I ran into a couple of glitches installing the A7000 but did get it up & running. I’m not very computer knowledgeable which doesn’t help.
This adapter is great for boosting signal strength. It can also be used to upgrade older computers that run the slower Wi-Fi 4 802.11n internet connections to the better Wi-Fi 5 802.11ac.
Not inexpensive but definitely changed how my computer works.

An easy to install Wi-Fi adapter that lets you connect to the Internet at blazing fast speeds. I bought this device for my new desktop PC and it works wonderfully. The signal is always strong and download speeds are extremely fast.

Netgear have made the ultimate wifi adapter .. I honestly think it's worth it not to rely on the wifi built into the motherboard. This adapter is fast and can catch networks from miles away

Easy set up, good signal, definitely good speed, however not great. Better than most unless you want to spend 100 more to get great speed. Small foot print on desk and not obtrusive to look at, at all. Great value for the money!!

Works with my 2012 Mac mini - find drivers online

Got this for a 2012 Mac mini I recently purchased used. I have wifiAX at home with a gigabit connection, however the Mac mini only came stock with 802.11n. There's no AX adapter on the market as far as I could tell, so I figured 802.11ac would have to suffice.
After looking around, it seemed this would be the only adapter that would work with Mac OS Catalina 10.15.6 but upon downloading the driver, I found it wasn't compatible. Drat.
I did a quick google search and found a couple of drivers. 5-10min later and I'm in business. My speeds went from 100-125 Mbps to 200-250 Mbps. For $75 and being in a crappy location with a near 10yo computer, I'll take the improvement.

Installs and works great. Only downside is you need to install the software for it instead of just relying on the driver to load. Definitely not a mobile adapter but then you wouldn’t expect that based on its size.

I upgraded from an older adapter and the difference in speeds are night and day!
I went from probably 130mbps down on my laptop upstairs on the opposite of the house from the router to an avg. Of 400+ mbps down.
Uploads are around 50mbps or higher on average.
I also compiled drivers for Linux and it works just as good on my Linux Distro as it does on my Win10 OS!
The only downside I have about it is that it is fairly large. You will need to use the extender/base it comes with because you wouldn't want a supersize adapter sticking out and in the way.

Router is about 50 feet away. Furthermore, I have 20+ wireless devices on the network and nothing seems to have issues. Since getting this card I was able to eliminate one of our range extenders in the house as this card had better signal then the last.
This wifi card is fast enough to max out my internet service during a speed test. If i needed another USB wifi card, this would be a very strong candidate for a 2nd purchase.

Purchased the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 USB Dual Band USB Adapter after trying a highly-recommended powerline network expander that did NOT work well at all. Pleased to say this one did...in spades! Installation was easy and the ability to vary the antenna location based on design allowed me to get about 80% of my maximum up/download speeds (as provided by my ISP) whereas before I was getting about 20-30% (with an older USB WIFI adapter). For reference, I'm using the 5GHz band and my new WIFI router is 1 floor below at a diagonal distance of about 70 feet, meaning the signal is passing through 1 floor and 3 walls to reach my receiver. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I never write reviews, however, I am for this product because of how easy it was to set up, and how fast it made my internet speeds. I have a PC I built myself with no integrated wifi installed in the motherboard, so I bought a cheap little dongle wifi adapter...not great. I was getting around 10 mbps download and 0 upload speeds before, but now with the AC1900 they're both around 80, and I can say that shows for sure while I'm browsing the web or downloading things from the internet. I'd say this is totally worth your money. The magnet on the back of the holder for the adapter was also a very nice touch.

Great at first but now reality has set in. Originally I purchased this because the wifi antenna with my MOBO was not working. I installed it and was blown away with speeds >600Mbps. So I thought this thing is great. Easy to set up and plug and play. Recently I have noticed inconsistent speeds from 40-90Mbps. Checked to make sure software is updated it was. I have no idea why speeds decreased in less than a month of having this device.

When choosing a USB Wi-Fi adapter there are a lot of options. The Netgear Nighthawk was consistently rated in the top 3, everywhere I looked. I had purchased a Wi-Fi adapter card by a different company, and it maxed out at 60 Mbps and only lasted 4 months. So I decided to get an external adapter this time to avoid opening my computer case again. I'm so glad I went with this product!
Wi-Fi speeds will never be as high as a direct, ethernet connection. It's just a fact. Download speeds can can easily reduce as much as 50% from your router to your access point, and then even more just to reach your device (although there are many factors involved). So, I wasn't expecting much. Which is why I was amazed that I was getting over 300 Mbps down, and nearly 40 up with this product. It works better than expected and is leaps and bounds better than the internal card I had to deal with.
I have used Netgear products in the past and was always happy with them and this has not changed. If in doubt, spend a little extra for the reliability of this adapter. It is worth every penny. (I got a great deal on it by having Best Buy price match an online store, and was able to support a local business and pick it up the same day.)

I am very impressed with the instant start up connectivity to the device. Alot better than the stock rabbit ears that ended up breaking. Also super fast very impressive speeds that I knew I made the right choice. The absolute only complaint is the setup. Even with the device itself connected to a LAN line downloaded the software because my PC does not have a CD driver. I still ran into errors. Geek Squad ran into the same error but managed to get it fixed. 5 stars to Geek Squad.
