We went in to our local Best Buy and was able to get some pretty solid advice from one of the staff members for a new router/modem combo. The one we were replacing was just outdated by a lot, so it was def time to replace it. We were not able to afford the item that the gentleman was recommending, but we did take the step down, which was this product. It does take a bit more effort to set up, versus your normal plug and play, because you have to set up an account, download the app, etc. I really wish some things would go back to just letting you plug in and go. However! Since we have set up this device, our internet has been SOOO much more reliant! We were having issues with spotty reception, not a lot of reach in a small house, etc. This Nighthawk has totally blown it out of the water! Gone are the days of having to move around and find signal, even less than 20 feet away. All of our security cameras get excellent signal strength, compared to the very iffy reception that they had gotten before. We experience almost No drop in streaming, gaming, etc. It really is coming down to apps themselves just having their own hiccups. This thing is a beast!! I am thoroughly impressed, even though the price tag was a bit more than we wanted to pay! I do hope that customer service through NetGear is just as impressive, because the gentleman from Best Buy said he was always impressed with their efforts to make customers happy. I do hate that there is a subscription program, which... in today's world seems both more and more common. But it also doesn't make it any less soul sucking. We are being nickled and dimed to death nowadays, and I do hope that even though I cannot afford the sub service, that Netgear would still assist us, if and when there may be issues. Fingers crossed!

You said this router would work with Century Link. It turned out it did not. On the box it said it worked with Xfinity. Now I have Xfinity for TY, internet, and mobile phone. I like the range of this router- it makes it possible to use small set up boxes instead of cable to watch TV. Got a great deal on a phone as well.

My old router couldn't reach the corners of my house and was struggling to keep up with all my smart home devices. This router was a reasonably priced upgrade that covers my entire house and has no issues with all my smart devices. Greats speeds and reliability so far!

I was told by Spectrum that this is one of the modems that I needed to get my speeds of 400 down. Works awesome. Very reliable and the settings are really easy to adjust. Put a Nighthawk router behind it and they work perfect together.

Great out of the box and simple instructions. Got connected with TWC very easily, just called tech support at TWC and they registered the modem/router. Great speeds and consistency. Have not had to reset, and this is really a great thing. Good menu options and software to tweak parent controls and wifi channels and security.

I haven't owned too many modems or routers, but this one seems to do the job for me. I needed to upgrade because of a Cox upgrade. Plenty of speed and range. I don't game, but I do stream a lot of HD content. Setup was easy, had to call Cox to do it but that was no big deal.

Great wifi router. Im not very tech savy but the setup for this was crazy easy. Havent had any kind of problems whatsoever. Setup is upstairs in the bedroom and the signal reaches all over just fine.even to the outdoor cameras. Definitely recommend.

Great duo modem/router that’ll pay itself off, eventually. I hate Comcast but I’m stuck with them. I’ve used an older nighthawk previously so this purchase for me was a no brained. One I am not a super tech person and two I’m don’t have a bird brain so it’s easy for anyone to set up just as long as you know how to read a manual carefully. I had more difficulty getting Comcast on the phone than I did installing. That should sum it up. I have about 10+ Wireless devices hooked up to this router and my internet has not bogged down even if I’m on the second floor in the furthest part of my house. It’s surely an investment but worth it.

I purchased this router based on the recommendation of the Best Buy sales person. This unit is to be used in my condo. It was easy to set up and provides continuous data without and breaks in information. It has good speed and reaches every area in my condo.

great performing combo unit for most speed tiers

If you're not on speed tiers above 500-600Mbps, do NOT have cable home phone service, want a simple, but great performing modem/router combo that doesn't break the bank...this is the unit for you. On the (lower) speeds most users are on, this should easily tie you over for many years. (at least until Full Duplex DOCSIS technology comes out & you actually want to go to those speeds!) At these current speeds, 24 download channels is more than sufficient, but having 8 upload channels does improve upload speed/quality somewhat, compared to only 4 upload channels on most modems. The unit is very easy to setup for all but the most computer novice, & the out-of-box defaults should work for the vast majority of users. The Wi-Fi performance is very good; up there with many better separate routers. This is actually the 2nd one I've setup for clients & both have been working for the past few months with no issues.

I needed to replace my old Netgear cable modem/ router because it stopped working after 5 years (got good use out of it). I decided to get the newer version of my old model and it did not disappoint. We currently run all of our televisions (4), our computers / laptops tablets (4), our Alexa devices (5), and our phones (5) off the new Netgear modem router with zero issues! I would recommend this Netgear modem router if you are in the market for one, you won't be disappointed.

    Be viligent with Spectrum Support

At first, my review wasn't going to be pretty. I hooked up the router, chatted with Spectrum Support and within 5 minutes the rep have me the thumbs-up... then everything went SOUTH quick. I could connect with the router but there was no internet. Proceeded to chat with Spectrum support again and after a long winded back and forth the rep suggested I should get a service call but since the modem wasn't theirs the service charge would be my responsibility. I called Netgear support and the rep spent over an hour with me doing some updates within the modem setup url. After multiple dropped calls, the rep called me back everytime... very impressive! But the final prognosis was to have a spectrum service call. Well I told him I'll probably return the modem instead of incurring a service charge from Spectrum. I went back to chat and expressed my frustration and mentioned I found a google search where a Spectrum rep solved the problem. I was convinced they were doing something that was blocking the internet to the modem so I would settle for their devices. The representative asked me for the MAC address again and came back and said I should be all set... and it WAS!!!! The support person said the mac address I provided earlier in the day wasn't entered into the correct system whatever that means but the rep said it was their fault since they entered the MAC address in the wrong area. I wasn't expecting to put many hours into what should of been a 15 install and activation. The Netgear support was very impressive and even though they weren't able to get my connection going, the time spent troubleshooting my issue was held in high regard. Again, don't give up make sure they are putting the MAC address into the right system.

First modem & router that I bought opposed to renting one from comcast or AT&T. Found it on sale for $50.00 off. Hooking it up was fairly easy. It was set up at one end of the house in the basement which was finished. The signal was ok upstairs at the other end of the house. Been running for about a month so far, no issues so far.
