I’m writing this after using this for almost 9-10 months. This is a very good replacement for ISP router if you are really trying to replace it. I have 1 Gig connection and these are the speeds i get consistently. Wired I get 800-900Mbps and wireless I get 500-550 Mbps. Upload is consistent at 40 Mbps. Make sure to reset the router if you have WiFi drops or password incorrect issues.

Honestly one of the best router modem combos we have had. Able to handle lots of speed with multiple pieces of equipment linked.

I use this modem router on my Xfinity broadband network. The Wi-Fi signal is strong and supports the use of my multiple devices on the network with little to no noticeable lag. The four Ethernet ports support direct connections and configuration changes to support Wi-Fi security password change. The 90 day on call technical support it’s very helpful. If desired the lights can be turned off.

Personal rules I broke buying this thing: 1) Never buy NetGear 2) Never buy a Modem / Router Combo 3) Never EVER EVER buy a NetGear M/R Combo Against my better judgement the allure of gigabit internet from RCN here in Chicago was too tempting but there are very few modems and routers that handle DOCSIS 3.1 and this forced my hand. I purchased the unit 7/30/19. Absolutely no problems from that point until 10/3/19 it was absolutely amazing. Then boom, everything blew up. Getting random internet disconnects for 15-20 minutes every few hours, not even wireless dropping as my computers stay connected to the network and I'm able to access the firmware on the router but the internet just goes *poof* even though NetGear's firmware says Cable is connected and everything is fine. Thinking it was just my computer since everyone from WAN was still connected to my TS server when I disconnected, I blew away my OS and installed a fresh new copy with all updated drivers. Issue still happens... Ok, let's try a factory restore with the most basic settings. Did the factory restore on the router, put in administrator credentials, recreated my wireless networks, recreated the port forwarding for TS (only two ports) done. Still drops internet. Ok, maybe it's a portion of the network dropping. I put a laptop on 2.4GHz, my desktop on 5GHz, and my server was directly connected. I started a ping logging utility that would log when pings were dropped due to failed pings sent to google. Boom, after the factory restore now ALL my computers disconnect from the internet. Alright...maybe I need a firmware update. Go to find out when you go to download firmware for this thing...you can't! NetGear states that the firmware is supplied to your ISP who will then flash your firmware. Cool. So now I can't even control when my device is updated or if/when to back up settings. Call RCN in hopes it's an area issue, technician says everything is fine. I swapped the coaxial splitter out, still same issue. I switch the coaxial cable itself out, still same issue. Finally I just decided to factory reset it again, disable literally ALL security on the thing, ONLY hook up my desktop and server, disconnect EVERYTHING that's not in use including 3 security cameras, my two other laptops, my smart TV, bluray player, and smart phone, disable power down options in device manager for network adapters in use, and disable every computer's network ports not in use... Guess who's going through warranty services tomorrow...guess who wasted $400 on this pile of junk trash. Save yourself the struggles and buy a separate modem from Surfboard and whatever router isn't named NetGear.

Good modem router combo! Nice looking at night with all the lights off, as the tips of the antenna glows blue; and you can turn off if you want to. Only paid for 200 megabytes per second with Xfinity, but getting 200+ constantly!

Pricey but worth it. The Nighthawk was a nice upgrade to my (not so) old setup. I had a Motorola Surfboard 8x2 DOCSIS 3.0 with up to 300Mbps that was only a year old. When it worked, I was getting over 250Mbps download on my 300Mbps plan from Cox. The problem was that we constantly were getting drops, a few seconds or a few minutes of lost connections randomly throughout the day. It's pretty frustrating when you are trying to do a video conf call when working or studying from home, or even when streaming a show online. We constantly had to reboot the modem/router. I thought I could blame it on Cox, but it suspect it is the Docsis 3.0. Cox prefers their customer to use the latest Docsis 3.1. So I gave up and invested in this monster from Netgear. I wanted a Modem Router combo with the latest Docsis 3.1 and a x8 upload antennas. My research got me to the Nighthawk. It worked as advertised. No more dropped connections, no lost signal. I have a one floor 1700sq house and I get max signal in every corner of the house. I get solid signal in my backyard and even front yard (my car can even upload the GPS maps from the driveway). At its peak usage, we have 3 laptops, 3 phones, a Smart HD4K TV, 6 Alexa echos, wifi security cameras, thermostat, and light switches connected to this wifi router both on the 2.4MHz and the 5.2MHz bands, and so far it runs flawlessly. The setup wasn't too difficult. I had to call Cox since their online install never works. Gave them the Serial and MAC ID, and upgraded to Gigablast. Now I have blazing fast, uninterrupted internet! Pro: Router and Modem combo. Super fast upload and download. Excellent wifi coverage that doesn't need little repeaters all over the house (like the Nest thingie). Dual Band for all your wifi accessories. Simple software and easy to setup. You can connect a USB printer and make it a network printer. You can add a USB memory and use it as a remote backup. Works with Cox cable. You can hang it on the wall to save space. Looks like an alien starship. Con: It costs $$$. LEDs are really bright, like you-can't-sleep-in-the-same-room bright. Looks like an alien starship once you hang it on the wall.

    Netgear Nighthawk AC3200 Wi-Fi Router w/ Modem

This is a single router/modem combo unit with (4) external (illuminated) antennas that has been working OK and has enough range for all rooms in our 2500 SF house. Before buying this, we most recently had a new NetGear AC-1900 (C7000v2) Router w/ Modem that worked great for a while with an AC-1900 range extender, though that setup only lasted a few months until the Router/Modem could no longer recognize and connect wirelessly to the extender. The ISP tech could not make it work again, so we decided on this single unit, which DOES provide enough signal for the whole house (though not quite as strong in most distant rooms as the former with range extender). The 4 external antennas allow this unit to throw more signal than our old router/modem unit, and our kids say their Wi-Fi signal works well for mid-level gaming and school. My own Ethernet connection to this machine tests (on average) at around 450 Mbps download and 38 Mbps upload speeds with our mid-range ISP service plan. In my personal opinion, NetGear does not always have great setup instructions. Our ISP tech set this one up for us, and he said this one was easy but did also mention the "tribal knowledge" that is often required for setting up NetGear equipment. (Hey NetGear - did you hear that ? Well-worded instructions with complete illustrations ARE meaningful !!) Parting advice - the Geek Squad protection I bought was worth it when I returned the previous equipment. I have the same protection on this one.
