Awesome router/extender combo. Speeds are true and you have 1 rj45 plug out in each devide to hardware other devices and can also set up an unmanaged switch through it. The mobile app its awesome and once you set it up you can control and monitor your devices from anyware. Due to the size and type of wall I got myself another set to help the signal penetrate and have additional coverage throughout the house and even to my front house Neighbor I can pick up my signal. Definitely would buy again and recommend this product to others.

Seemed great at first…simple to set up and worked well the first 2 days then wouldn’t stay connected so I hit the chat line and they guided me through the update process. I figured it would be automated, nope had to update all four units, then factory default the satellites and reconnect. Long drawn out process. Still have an occasional single satellite drop out of network.

know if your devices support WPA-3

My Internet speed has risen from 90 mbps to aproximately 300 mbps, which is what we pay for, throughout the house. I have no complaints with the speed or the range of the device. My only criticism is of myself. One of the reasons I bought the device was the latest WPA-3 level security. I didn't realize that all of my devices had to support WPA-3 security for it to be used without kicking the other devices out. Small item, but three of my devices do not support WPA-3 so I had to select the older WPA-2 level of security.

Not only is this one of the strongest and easiest wifi setups I have encountered, but it also is incredibly secure. Imagine my surprise when upon installation it automatically scans your network for vulnerabilities and informs you of them. That’s not bad at all. Combined with netgears years of expertise with j building consumer grade wifi, this is easily the Best Buy if you are looking to move to mesh and or wifi 6. Also, it comes with wifi6!!

Easy Setup, no spots, lack luster wifi performance

I've contacted Netgear support before writing this. I have 20 years network experience. Pros Setup is easy. Coverage and dead spot elimination is great. Cons software capped wifi speed limiters to 40-60% ISP speed. unfinished web admin functionality app functions only some of the time. App The app is nice but will have outages. The free security add-on can only be disabled via the phone app. You cannot disabled this security via the web admin portal, you'll have to factory reset but putting a pin the back. The added security can cause problems, so I'd disabled it. Wifi Performance very disappointing. You will only be able to get 100% of your ISP speed when near the main router. If you are on a wifi satellite you will only get 40-60% of your ISP speed. This was confirmed by netgear tech support. This is firmware, not hardware. You can have the satellite 5 feet from the main, the satellite will have 5 bars and 1200mbps connection between it and the main. if your device is on the satellite best case 60% ISP speed. So if you get 240mbps on wifi by the main or on the hardline, you'll get 100-144mbps. Netgear support told me if I want more speed on a satellite, buy more isp speed and it will go it up. If you run 2x devices at the same time, they share the 100-144mbps between them.

We built a small addition onto the back of my mother in laws house to be able to assist her and everything went so smoothly except our Wi-if connection. Her service is fabulous in her house but ours was a mess and made working from home a disaster. We decided to visit our local electronics store to get ideas from them, the nighthawk mesh system was immediately what they went to. Cost was reasonable, setup was super easy and within 15 minutes we had a super strong signal that allowed us to stream, have successful conference calls and meetings, and connect all our devices that used Wi-fi on at our old home. Netgear, thanks so much for this product, I really thought I was going to lose my mind before we found it.

The NightHawk Mesh WiFi 6 System (AX1800/MK63) was full of challenges and disappointments and by far the worst router experience I have ever had. Let me first start by saying that I work in IT and consider myself knowledgeable in this area. This worked against me for not taking more seriously all the negative reviews. My experience started off with getting the BSOD on my PC when interacting directly with the router management interface from the PC. This was followed by my PC randomly freezing and locking completely up at certain times when utilizing the WiFi, which required a hard shutdown. Since I had the latest adapter driver and attempted a number of solutions, I decided to try a new WiFi adapter. This did stop the BSOD and computer freezing and locking up, but I still had an issue in which applications like Zoom and Pandora would constantly freeze and break up. I confirmed this issue also existed when on my phone and using WiFi. The interesting thing is I hooked back my old Netgear N600 WNDR3400v3 router and everything was stable and worked fine. For my other PC, it couldn’t even see the Wireless Network unless I disabled AX. I was fortunate in this case that the problem was resolved by driver update. For the connection and stability issues, I opened multiple cases with Netgear and talked to upper tier support to no avail. I also did a ton of Googling. Here are just some of things I tried: - Disabling SIP ALG - Reserving an IP address for PC - Setting a static DNS - Broadcasting SSID due to potential issues with earlier versions of Windows - Using WiFi Analytics tools to determine any interference - Setting to channels with little or no interference - Trying UNII-1 level channel (in case of airline interference) - Testing both bands (2.4GHz and 5.0GHz) - Trying different WiFi adapters on PC The final decision to return the router came when I noticed that there was a real inconsistency with the Mesh wireless signal strength. Even when I was right next to a satellite, at times I would struggle to get a good signal and my device would end up connecting to a location farther away. I also noticed that there was around a 30% signal drop going through just one wall. I found out that my signal strength was actually as strong with my old Netgear N600 WNDR3400v3 farther away and going through multiple walls. I hope this review saves you from hours and hours of struggles by either not getting it or, if you do, maybe some of things I tried will work for you.
