When I moved into my house 5 years ago I quickly found out that Comcast / Xfinity was the only internet provider who would service my address. In the rush to move in and get the house set up, I agreed to rent their Modem/Router for $14.00 per month ($168.00 per year). I knew that I would save money if I purchased my own equipment, but I figured I would buy the equipment once we got settled in and had more time. Well, here we are 5 years later and I’ve paid Comcast over $840.00 to borrow their equipment. Don’t be a sucker like me! Buy the Nighthawk, get super fast Wifi 6, and save money! The Nighthawk was super easy to set up and surprisingly - the app is actually helpful. Usually I ignore companion apps, but in this case the app truly helped make set-up easy. The app quickly helps you name your WiFi (preferably something clever), allows you to select your password, view devices connected to your network, create a guest network, and even test your connection speed in each room of the house. The app even lets you view and control your network remotely. Parental control features cost extra, but there are tons of other options that can be used. I appreciate that the router has a smaller physical size than the comcast Modem/Router device. Instead of standing upright like the Comcast box, it is low and wide with the 4 antennas sticking upwards (which can be adjusted to varying angles). Though I have the Nighthawk in a thick wooden cabinet, it delivers speeds of around 200 Mbps all throughout my 2 level 2,500 sq ft home. I can stream 4K video and play Xbox and PC games online without any lag. My only minor frustrations are that the outlet plug is a rather large box that blocks adjacent plugs on a surge protector and that the antennas are limited in how they can be aimed / adjusted. Other than those exceedingly minor issues, I highly recommend the nighthawk. JUST REMEMBER THAT YOU DO NEED TO PURCHASE A SEPARATE MODEM if you want to avoid renting equipment from your internet provider. Simply search Best Buy for “Cable Modem” and you’ll find many affordable options to pair with the Nighthawk.

I have a Verizon Fios gigabit connection. The router I have been using is a Verizon G3100, which supports Wi-Fi 6, while the new AX5300 is Wi-Fi 6 compatible. This is good if you have a Wi-Fi 6 devices, which is a majority of modern day devices. For those who are using Verizon Fios with a gigabet connection, this is a great alternative router (and cheaper if you forego renting their router) to use for their services. Set up and installation is very straightforward and easy. Although the sole instruction document states that you use a phone app to handle the installation, you can also connect to the router through its webpage by using your computer. You can handle all the port forwarding, firmware update, monitoring, etc from there if you don't want to use the app. Someone mention that the password and network name is on the wrapper, but it's also on the underside of the router so fear not if you have thrown away the wrapper. For my use case, I primarily have a perosnal laptop and PlayStation 5 connected via ethernet cables. Everything else is on Wi-Fi. From the one week of using the router, my connections have been fast and stable. It can connect up to 25 difference devices at once, but since I live alone I don't have a chance to test something like that. Other than that, my speed test shows that it's getting the full speed Buying this router also gives you a year of Netgear armor for free just to note. Otherwise, I would recommend this router if you have a fast gigabit internet and need a router that provides a stable connection.

This was a cinch to set-up including use of the app to connect the router to the wifi. I had this up and running in less than twenty minutes. I am currently connected to the router as I am typing this review. It actually has a very strong connection compared to other products. My house has so many weak areas and my room is one of the spots. I connected my phone and my laptop from my room and it was a easy and quick. The signal was great too which is why I gave it a 5 star rating. When I set up the router after downloading the app, I had no issues connecting to the modem. I literally connected and was clicking next to set-it all up more quickly than when setting up some of its competitors. The app was easy to navigate through which is always a bonus for me. I use my wifi apps a lot to check who is on my network and to update the firmware when needed. It is also very lightweight and the internet cord that it came with is so thin and flexible. I love that. We have so many devices connected to our internet so we pay for the most expensive package so we are getting the most of our internet. This is going to come in so handy as an extra router. I am already loving how fast and the internet is picking up in my room, which is a really slow spot in our house.

We needed a new router since my 15 year old Linksys finally gave out, so shopping around i found this one on sale at BB. It was easy to set up and had internet back up in just a few minutes giving it the old network name and passwords. It has amazing range (I got internet over 100' away outside), and the speed is fantastic. I clocked it around 400 Mbps using my IP cable they provided with the modem, i switched the ethernet cable out for a Cat 6 i bought and it jumped to an average of 970 Mbps. Keep in mind no matter how fast your router is, internet speed is limited by your IP, modem, or cables' capacity. The Cat 6 ethernet cable I switched to was rated for 1Gbps, the router came with a cable, but didn't use it. The router is great, but Parental Controls is lacking. My old Linksys, I could set device data limits and time limits, as well as scheduled blackouts times in the middle of the night when they were supposed to be in bed. Netgear only offers those features under a "premium" plan for $8/mo or $70/yr otherwise you have to manually pause their internet through the app. So don't get too excited about this router having "parental controls" unless you want to pay for them. It is a fast router that was easy to set up, and the app is easy to navigate.

Out of the box it looks sleek. I like the stealth black look that it has. It was easy to screw in the four included antennas. I used the Nighthawk app on my Android phone to install. The app said to find a QR code to scan but I did not see one on my Nighthawk device or included instruction pamphlet. That would have been nice to have connected to easily. Instead I had to find the wifi network and input the network password manually. Setup a few admin access stuff. I got a notice to update the firmware but it kept failing so I bypassed to try again later. I got to the end where everything was setup but then router was not found. Make sure your phone doesn't connect to any outside wifi networks or you will need to manually switch on your phone's wifi settings. The app pushes for customer support and Armor security subscriptions. The app overall is user friendly. It has a simple tile home menu that shows valuable information pertaining to your network connection. Click on the tiles to get into that menu. I got a few more attempts from the app to get me to review the app on the Google play store and even a notice for smart parental controls. I got a 30 day free trial offer for that but no one likes to have to buy a device only to have to subscribe to it. Especially with technology like this where the next internet standard is just a few years away and would require purchasing another router. Consider this if you can find a deal on one. There are other wifi 6 routers that may fit your budget and not be pushy on getting you subscribed. If you want something that can manage itself and you can see what is going on via the app and don't mind paying a subscription to unlock more useful features, then this does a good job.

Netgear‘s new router the Nighthawk AX5300 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 comes in a box neatly packaged, included inside is the Nighhawk router itself, four loose antennas that must be screwed in, The power adapter cable, and an flat ethernet cable. The first thing you have to do is download the Netgear APP, secondly just follow the instructions and you’ll have powerful Wi-Fi before you know it. This router features 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports, Six-stream Wi-Fi, A USB 3.0 port, Dual-Bands up to 5.4 Gbps, plus more. A word of caution, do not lose the QR code that comes inside the box, it’s a sticker that stuck on the wrapping plastic that wraps around the router itself, you will need that. Also make sure you go step-by-step and do exactly what the app says to do While trying to connect to router. For whatever reason I had to start over again a couple of times before I finally got it working. Once it was up and running, I got great Wi-Fi reception all throughout my house, it’s super fast and even though it’s a bit pricey, it might be worth it for people who need fast speeds like gamers, streamers etc.

Our old Netgear router power supply died (not bad for a seven plus year product). We change to this router. Our download and upload speeds increased a lot. We got twice if not more download speed verses our old router. Great range far more than rated. Just another great product from Netgear. Exceeded all expectations. Best price was at Best Buy, good sale, better than any online price at the time. Nice to see a brick and mortar store still truly competing with online sellers. Always nice to buy in a store with actual people to help you. Keep up the good job.

Big improvement from my old router. Wifi 6 has been a great welcome since I can utilize the high speeds my modem provides compared to wifi 5. Simple and easy to use software makes it efficient to manage and configure my router from setting data limit’s managing new devices that are connected. The 1 year warranty that comes with for security helps me browse the internet with ease of mind and notifys me of any vulnerabilities in my network. 10/10 would recommend anyone with fiber internet and wifi 6 devices.

I am usually the one to never care to leave a review, but this router has exceeded my expectations. It was easy to install, step by step, and the connection was a night and day difference. I highly recommend to anyone looking to upgrade their router. I have a workstation, gaming PC, PS5 and 4, 4 smart tvs and security cameras. Not a single issue with connection and speeds are outstanding!

Works well, very easy to set up. We have a lot of things that use Wi-Fi, including several Alexa controlled items, so we were concerned about having to bring them all back online with a new router. However, it allows you to change the system name and password to what the previous system’s was, so it was not an issue at all. Our previous system was also a Nighthawk and worked well for 6 years so we hope the new one will do as well.

Set-up was very quick after downloading the Nighthawk app. All of our devices are running smoothly with no problems. This was an upgrade from a Netgear dual band router i had purchased in 2013. This new router has the latest technology, and the highest security protocols and that is the main reason i purchased it.

Replaced an older netgear since we just upgraded to Gigabit speed and dont want to pay the $15/mo for a verizon wifi gateway. Coverage on the old unit was good, but now with this router we were able to get a lot better coverage! All the devices that were connected previously are connecting much faster so everyone is happy!

big difference! I have 1g download speed with Optimum. Using the standard modem-router combo that Optimum provides I was only getting about 590-600mbps download … on my 1gb plan. Unacceptable. With this independent router, now my download sped are close to what I’m paying for 900mbps (on average). Makes a huge difference!!
