I'm very satisfied with this purchase. The device is very anestheticly pleasing, for starters. It also has notches for wall mounting. But on top of that, it was very easy to get set up, having pleanty of information in the box to help us out if we had questions. Last and most importantly, the functionality of it has been outstanding. I've had fast and reliable internet ever since I installed this device. My old router had a hard time sending a signal to the furthest rooms of my home, especially when the doors were shut, but this one has strong, consistent signal throught my home, regardless of obstacles.

This was my first Netgear router. I’ve had their switches and have never had issue with them so when it came time to retire my old Asus router I thought I’d give the Nighthawk line a try.
For background, I prefer to manually configure as many settings as possible (e.g. Operating Systems, network equipment, printers…). Netgear really wants you to configure the routers using their mobile app. For many this is great option. I proceeded to the web interface which automatically redirects you to https://routerlogin[.]net. Until it’s completely configured the routers admin console is internet accessible. Great for convenience, not ideal for security. I like that there a speed test from the mobile app and console. It’s actually testing the bandwidth from the router rather than a device connected to the router. This gives a better idea of how much bandwidth you’re getting from ISP. I had 500 Mbps connection. The tests I did showed ~470-480 Mbps. The wireless tests were very good too. I only had it configured for 2.4 and 5 GHz since I have only device that supports WiFi 6.
You can customize device name and assign different icons for different devices. Nighthawk has better icons than TPLink in my opinion.
Wireless security supports all expected options - WPA, WPA2/3 personal, WPA23 -Enterprise.
If you’re looking for a well performing, mid-prices, easy to configure WiFi router, I would recommend the Nighthawk AX5400. However, if you want something highly customizable or that has advanced firewall features, I would not. I don’t know if newer Asus router require a subscription for some features. Netgear and TP-Link both charge subscriptions for parental controls and their “advanced” security. Though this is annoying it seems to be how it’s done now. The Asus I replaced had the parental controls builtin.
I’d like to get more detailed information about which sites are being accessed and protocols and ports being used in my network. As well better segmentation. Granted these are more business than consumer features.

I am by no means a tech expert. I love tech and devices, routers are something I did not think could make a difference in my signal but when Spectrum upgraded my internet speed I thought things were going to be good for my devices, especially my PS5. Well, I decided to upgrade my router to a newer one that Spectrum provides and they decided to take away the dual-band option because they said it was an outdated feature. Do not believe it. Dualband is NECESSARY. Smartphones and smart TVs consume way too much data. It ruins the signal reach and stability of everything. Keep smartphones and smart TVs on 2g. The only devices that require a 5g signal are computers and gaming consoles but everything does not need over 200mbps of speed yet if you use your smartphone with 5g it will take advantage of it which nothing on my phone requires that much data. This router is amazing. No need to use your internet provider's router. Night Hawk has more features than my provider could ever offer. I feel more in control of my internet than ever. I feel like a tech expert now that I have this router and gives me so much information on devices and usage. So stop comparing prices and reviews. JUST BUY THIS ROUTER! Nothing could be better than this router.

Excellent throughput. Range good is throughout the 2 story house and excellent the closer you are to the Nighthawk.
I learned something about changing the SIDD name. If the default name it say, NETGEAR72, you new SIDD must keep the '72' at the end. For example xxxxxxx72. Otherwise no connection.

Wow! I bought this particular Router based off of a friend who also owns one and I couldn’t be happier! Makes my internet speed blazing faster than my 11 year old Apple Router! I love that it can hold up to 25 devices at once! And the Nighthawk app is very helpful in troubleshooting my Router or Rebooting it without having to unplug it like I used to with my previous Router. It is definitely worth the money. I highly recommend the NETGEAR Nighthawk Router

Has worked great! My previous netgear router was having lots of issues. I've had this one for 2+ weeks and haven't even had to restart it! Setup was easy since I already had the App, though it did take a few times for it to recognize the new router. Even with some snags, it took less than half an hour.

Paired with the Netgear CM1000v2 modem, the Netgear Nighthawk AX5400 is an outstanding router that has exceeded all my expectations. Right out of the box, I noticed faster internet speeds—actually surpassing what I’m paying for with my ISP (Cox). The connection is rock-solid throughout the house, thanks to the router’s high-performance antennas, which ensure a stable and consistent signal even in rooms far from the router.
One of the standout features is the Nighthawk app. It makes controlling the network a breeze, whether I’m setting up a guest network or managing connected devices. The setup process, however, did take a bit longer than expected because Cox required the device to be registered on their end. While it was a slight inconvenience, it was absolutely worth it. The Nighthawk AX5400 outperforms Cox’s provided equipment in every way, offering superior speed, range, and reliability.
Lastly, Netgear’s customer service is top-notch. They were responsive and helpful, which added to the overall positive experience. If you’re looking for a router that delivers on speed, range, and user-friendly controls, the Nighthawk AX5400 is a fantastic choice!

I upgraded from a Nighthawk X10 R9000 to this one and I am SO glad I did. DumaOS is a game-changer! I love being able to control my ping and my area for gaming servers. Thank you, Netgear for getting DumaOS!!! It's range is phenomenal. It's easy to use. Recommended for anyone who just wants a better router!!!
