I've had hit and miss with NETGEAR routes. I had a very old router that lasted me several years but I wanted something more secure. I purchased an Orbi mesh router and that one lasted one year and it started having rebooted issues every couple of days and some times multiple times a day. I decide to try this RAX120v2 router because of the reviews on the Best Buy site. A little on my background, I've been in IT for all most 40 years and most of it has been in networking in some form or another. In the first week of owning this router I started to have reboot issues. The router was rebooting itself every other day. I opened a email case with NETGEAR and like another review I seen here the "technician" went through basic wireless setting. I told them I had tried them already and they caused a degradation in service. To make thing more expedient I called NETGEAR support instead of another email case and that "technician" when through the same setting over the phone. I told the "technician" on the phone that I had already tried those setting and they degraded my service. The "technician" said to see if the service improved in a few days and if not call back. It REALLY seem the "technicians" just want to give basic WiFi setting and tell you to call back in hopes you give up!!!! One thing I notice about this route is it get VERY warm and that may be the issue with it rebooting because I've seen this type of thing in servers and computers when the run hot. The router is in a well ventilated area but I think the internal automatic fan may have the temp set to high is not kicking on and that may be causing the reboots, as I mentioned. I'm about ready to return this router before the 30 days to Best Buy because at this point I have NO faith in NETGEAR devices!!!!

This product would be fine for a condo or apartment if you locate it centrally. I have a 3000sq. ft. home and located it at one end. The signal strength was inadequate at the other end of my home. I returned the unit and bought Netgear's Orbi router with satellites. Orbi is a superb router with good coverage.

I decided to replace my Asus AC5300 (toddler got a hold of it) with this one since it was on sale. What a mistake. The range was ok, WAN worked fine... but all the wireless devices were getting HALF if not worse than what I was paying for. I called Netgear and they made sure I updated it and after that didn't work they flashed the firmware. After that didn't work, the tech said we would have to go through channel by channel until we find one that works with all my wireless devices. Here is the kicker: if I got something new, it may not work and I would have to do it ALL OVER AGAIN. To add salt to the wound... if that happens outside of their new purchase range, I would have to pay for support. I returned it and got the new Asus Wifi 6. Setup in 20 minutes and has worked flawlessly since.

Unfortunately not able to use any netgear wireless sysems. Someone has been able to breach my password administrator and put them as administrator of my personal devices in a hack. I believe through a old Netgear registration.

I had a Netgear R7800P that I'd been running for years, and decided with 1Gbps fiber and a couple WiFi 6 devices it was time to upgrade. I was disappointed to find that even after an overnight's worth of time optimizing placement and settings, I could not get any of my devices, even the WiFi 6 ones, to consistently outperform my reliable R7800. I reluctantly returned the router and put the 7800 back in service. Maybe someday, but not today!

Great router. We have a large home (about 4,500 sq ft.) It’s also three stories. Wi-Fi reception is excellent throughout the house and approx 50 yds away from the house in all 4 directions. We have a lot of devices all going at once and rarely struggle for a good signal.
