This is by far the fastest router I’ve purchased for home use. The coverage in the house is excellent. First time I’ve been able to get coverage across entire house. Wish it would’ve been a little less expensive, but so far worth it.

1) All these years I paid for a 50mbps speed from my cable company. I had an older Netgear from 2009 which has served me well all these years (and still works) but I decided it was time to upgrade. Typically I was getting only 12-17mbps through my wi-fi (for example, to my iPhone6). After getting this Nighthawk Router, I now get 57mbps on the same iPhone. All of my devices are much faster now... PS4, iPhones, iPads, Epson Printer, Baby Monitor, Tablets, Roku 3 box, Roku Streaming Stick, etc...
2) Cables .... Please note, one other thing I did in addition to getting this router is that I also bought all new cat6 cables (from Amazon Basics), and that has helped the router to connect well to the cable modem. From the router itself, I have a few wired items (Roku 3 box, PS4, my PC). And note that I tested the Roku 3 box, PS4, and PC wirelessly as well. In all conditions, wired with Cat6 cables and/or wi-fi, this Nighthawk router has delivered the speeds I was missing for years.
3) Interface.... Also, I like the interface for setting up and using the router. I like that you get two options of 2.4ghz or 5ghz connection. One thing to keep in mind is that some older devices can only use 2.4g so it is that old device itself that limits the connection speed (not your wi-fi necessarily). Newer devices are 5g capable and can maximize the speed capability.
4) Security... I also like the "Access Control" feature so that you have to permit a device to connect to your wi-fi. For example, when I got a new iPad this Christmas, I logged into my wi-fi network and put in the proper password, but it wouldn't connect to the internet. Then I went to the Netgear interface on my PC and it displayed that the iPad had been blocked (because Access Control is turned on). So then I simply hit a check box to "allow" the iPad onto my home network, and then it connected.

What a change in WiFi speed, and coverage around the 2 story house. I used to have lyrics ac1900 triband and it worked good, but had some issues to reaching rooms upstairs. Now with nighthawk x12 no problems at all. Speed I am paying for internet provided is 600mbps and it is actually what I been getting on my pc and imac and even faster some times. iPads are around 400 mbps downstairs and 300 mbps upstairs at further point. Installing was easy, plugged in, restarted internet modem, downloaded an app and followed instructions on the app step by step. Renamed my network with same name and password as my old one, and it connected all my devices to the new router. Definitely recommend to everyone who is looking for new WiFi router. And being “new” technology wifi6, should last for a little while.

Wow this thing is fast! It might be because I’m upgrading from a much older router, but man it’s quick. Easy set up and haven’t had any connectivity or performance issues.

I live in a 3 story townhome (3000 sqft) the router it’s on the basement (5 4K smart tv, 2 laptop, 8 smartphone, 3 tablets, 4 ring camera, nest thermostat, smart freeze, smart washer and dryer, 3 Alexa, 2 Nintendo switch and PS4 and Xbox l) and I have up to 150mbps (my internet plan is 250) in the furthest place from the router, so yes, excellent range, excellent speed using all this devices at the same time, say bye to the lags while you are playing online and everyone are watching series

This router has a great range and like most Netgear products, very easy to setup. I have had it for a year and I have never had to reset it. I was constantly having to reset my previous non-Netgear router.

I love Netgear products and this is a solid purchase. I did not give it 5 stars because no matter what I purchase I still do not seem to get full house coverage or consistent shared performance. Family still has to ask why their connection diminished when someone else starts streaming a movie or playing on online game. It's not my ISP because I have 50 up and 600 down. Yes, other factors like neighbors on the same channels, etc, etc. I know... I've done everything and it's still not what I expect for the ISP bandwidth I pay for. However, this is the best router I've owned to date. It outshines anything else I've had and we are happy. I'm just type-A and want perfection 24/7. My advice is that you will be happy with this, but I would recommend going with one of their mesh systems instead. I have friends who have gone mesh and it's my next move, but only when this one gets tired.

I bought this couple months ago. I'm very happy, speed is always constant, never disconnects, I have 37 devices without loosing any performance.
Missing star is because it does not have Circle Smart Parents Control which it was included in previous versions.

We have 42 devices, WIFI light bulbs, PC,s, phones, tv, streaming box’s on this router and not a single glitch. This heavy load use to cause devices to constantly drop off on the old router but not this one. It’s expensive and looks kind of strange especially mounted on the wall but so far worth the money to get rid of all the headaches. If you have a heavy user load this is the fix.

This router is a performance router and it is pricey. As a technology professional and tried to set it up manually I recommend using the automated tools provided. This router did not perform automated firmware well and had to complete reset the device then manually update.

Honestly i wasn't in the market to purchase a new router, however after a current electrical storm, it seemed my current Nighthawk X10 the hard line connections had bit the dust & that part wouldn't work. So, heads up if this happens to you, try first to reset router back to factory settings with the reset button the back, cause that's all I did & now that router is back running correctly, but OH well, live & learn. The upside is that now I have 2 awesome routers running in my house!, this newer model is as good as the past one, if not better, would highly recommend it to anyone, the setup was fast & easy, & once setup is also easy to do tweaking to it to make it more your own.

I bought this because a friend had gotten it and raved about the speed and coverage. I can't tell if the speed is that much greater than my old ac router but the coverage is better. It had better be because its insanely expensive. But it is future proof for WiFi6 when that shows up.

This router has optimal performance for the average user/ high usage broadband consumer (what the box label says it will connect to). Is it the one router that can last for up to 5 years yes?Even with the newest gadgets it takes time for all technology to evolve and use the next “latest and greatest” true performance. Would this router satisfy a tech person who has 3 super computers, 2 macbooks and 50 wifi devices that need connection without fail? No. I had two issues with this device unrelated to the device itself, nothing is fail proof without human observation 24/7.

Awesome router, replaced an older Netgear nighthawk router. I just love the brand, and have largely deferred to their routers to provide my wireless experience over the past years. Not complicated to set up, and it also bridges hard connections between some PCs upstairs and down. I own a smaller house, and there isn’t a spot inside I don’t get full bars. Plenty of bandwidth to support wireless TVs, various fire sticks and Amazon products (speakers and blink cameras), very pleased with the setup, coverage and easy interface where I can control and reboot it from my iPad or phone. Not a moment of lag in this house.

The nighthawk was easy to setup. Overall it’s performed well. I would definitely recommend it large families with a lot devices. It effectively covers our split-level 2800 sq foot home. We have approximately 30 devices running at any given time.

During Christmas time I had bought for my kids new laptops for on line schooling, ps5, oculus quest 2 and my wifi connection started to slow down. So I decided to buy this router after reading some reviews and I was happy and amazed on how well this router works. Now I have about 15 devices connected all at the same exact time and there is no dropped connections and the connection is very fast. I even went out side and still have all around connection and no dead point area around my home. I would recommend this router to anyone even if they only connecting 5 devices.

We've had an Orbi nest system and it was great for our sprawling 2 story house. But very few options in the settings and I needed to adjust something. Plus with our new 1 gig service I wanted something that could be future proof with WiFi 6 when I get those devices.
This was extremely easy to set up, and we have a LOT of devices in the house and watch streaming for all of our TV viewing. The measured speeds are actually higher than I was getting with our Orbi, and the QOS setting to favor streaming apps on our TVs ensures no buffering or lag on our streaming apps. Highly recommended.

Very fast. Handles streaming 4k at gigabit speeds to multiple devices with ease. Be warned though that this is new tech and they are still working out some issues with the firmware. If you want easy and stable then get something a little older.
