Antenna system provides better coverage
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced an older version because I wanted the updated protocol version to improve the performance when many devices are connected. It does better sharing bandwidth than the older NIghthawk I had. In addition, the coverage is better due to the improved antenna system. The old Nighthawk model reached everywhere, but occasionally would have signal strength weaken due to dynamics in the environment. With this router, the signal strength seems to be more consistent without any dynamic variations that cause noticeable events (like sometimes not being able to connect at the far end of the house).

Excellent router.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The RAX120 is working excellent. This is my second Wi-Fi 6 router. I have tried several different brands with wifi 6 including netgear rax80, but the RAX120 has impressive performance from the very beginning, my house is over 3000 square ft and reaches every corner with excellent signal, Netgear RAX120 has many necessary functions to improve your network quality and security. I am a computer engineer and I recommend this router to everyone.

Not a Bad Router
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this router brought it home and it was no trouble at all to put it into production. Very simple. The purpose of this router was to replace a Netgear X10 R9000 that actually was and is doing a very good job. I bought this device to take advantage of the 12 streams as we are streaming more tv and use 4 laptops and about 18 terabytes of storage for backup and for our documents, photos and videos and the 5 main computers that used in this home. I measured the utilization both on wired and wireless and the results were not that impressive. First on 5 ghz ac wifi we actually recived less speed. On AX wifi, we receive less than we did on ac wifi. My laptop, 10 feet from the router got 7mps versus about 200 from the X10 on AC. Wired devices measured received less per on some devices. The only areas that really improved were the tvs connected by roku hard wired. This was significant by at least 20 mps per each tv one in the great room and the other in the master bedroom. So I returned this device and restored the Netgear X10 R9000. I do not think that this unit was defective. If you are migrating from a genuinely slow router then this might really help alot. We have 400 mps service and the X10 reels in about 480 mps on that service using a Netgear 1200 cable modem. (spectrum). All I can say is that the X10 is a beast. I mayy explore the Asus GT-11000 but that is down the road. I will not disparage this device. In reality, I will accept responsibility for not being as fully informed about this device and cannot take advantage of its capabilites. I did use the manual but I found that X10 gave me more direct choices as opposed to the RAX 120 which to me was not as clear. My bad. I also did not contact Netgear service as I have felt base upon past experience, I am talking with a person whose English is poor and I simply cannot understand what they are saying. Hope that this is helpful.

Good router, but helps to know that you're doing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a good router - good construction, good coverage, and the app that you use to set up the router is... ok. I have a somewhat convoluted set up of using my old router connected to this router to better isolate different devices between networks, but it still took a while and a couple calls to Netgear to get it working properly. The app is ok once everything is working, but not as helpful for initial troubleshooting. I'm also not a fan of Netgear's subscription model for tech support so that cost this a star by itself. I'd recommend it for experienced tech-friendly people, but this isn't something to hand over to somebody that has trouble figuring out how to Google something.

Don't be fooled by Netgear name
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.speed is great but way to many passwords and places to log into. Very confusing set up. They also automatically have Bitdefender installed which is a pain. Caused more grief than working. Went thru 2 of these routers. Finally returned and exchanged for a Linksys Router 6 series. Way better, easy install, 2..4 & 5. channel are merged into one. It automatically picks/uses what one is best for any given device. Install was easy. way better router.

Second try, Never coming Back!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The past two times I have purchased a Netgear product, I have had nothing but connection problems. These devices need to work out of the box and should not take a list of corrections to get them to be solid pieces of equipment. It had been several years since I bought the first Nighthawk router. In between I owned a very long lasting Asus product. I would have stayed with Asus, but they were not in stock at my local Best Buy. So I decided to try Netgear once again in hopes that I would not have more connections issues and they would have resolved their firmware. Only to find that the router I got kept rebooting itself several times a day. I would loose connection on both wireless and wired connections as a stated before, the router would just reboot. After getting ahold of tech support I tried a list of things that they suggested. Mostly these adjustments were to the wireless signal, even though I had stated that the router was rebooting and wired connections went down as well. The issue continued. Now I could have had a defective device, but this is unacceptable to me especially at this price point. I returned it and bought another Asus product with guess what, no problems. Thanks

WiFi 6 , best thing to happen to WiFi in years!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You can finally have 30 devices connected and not drop signal. The range is better but the speed is the biggest increase I’ve seen in my lifetime. The more WiFi 6 devices I add the more efficient it gets. It has literally allowed my full internet speed that I purchased over WiFi to be achieved. So far after a little under a month I’m pretty happy. As far as reliability, that is yet to be seen over time. Fingers crossed!

Great Router
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router replaced one that I had purchased last year. When I moved into a larger home, the other router did not quite cover my entire house. The minute I installed this router, I noticed a difference. My smart tv's and laptop were able to connect quickly and with minimal issues in streaming. I work from home and am required to have a fast internet speed for video conferencing and this router definitely provides coverage.

Superior Product!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this router to increase my signal strength for wifi. The built-in wifi in my fios router was too weak to reach and support all the smart home devices I have throughout my home. Once I bypassed the wifi of my service provider router and installed this router, everything worked great! I also noticed a speed difference. I can easily sit on my back patio and have a full wifi signal. Excellent purchase!

Fantastic performance when ioT numbers climb
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great router when paired to a new 3.1 docsis modem that supports multiple streams. Lots of ethernet & NAS - pair it with a netgear switch that supports the speed and streams that this allows. Good coverage, but you can pair it to netgear range extender or mesh. Its a pricey router but it is a pleasure to have everything run full speed and have as much control and expansion that you could want

Excellent Router
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to setup and maintain. Extremely responsive even during peak hours, we are able to connect and stay connected 24 - 7. I consider my self to be an expert and a highly qualified iT professional, this router is bar none the best router I have ever purchased for home use. I've had this router for over a month and have not had any problems with it at all, not even one hiccup. Stay connected with NETGEAR Nighthawk. AX12 12-Stream AX6000.

Blankets the Entire Apartment with a Strong Signal
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The NETGEAR Nighthawk AX6000 Wi-Fi 6 Router blankets my entire three-bedroom apartment with a strong signal providing 350 Mbps download and 23 Mbps upload speed as determined by the Ookla Speedtest app. There is never any buffering when I watch Netflix, YouTube, or videos on websites. My friend installed it, so I can't really comment about ease of setup.

PASS, Not half of the router the XR500 is!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Aesthetically it a beautiful piece of hardware, but that is about it. This unit was purchased to replace a Netgear XR500 and to be used in conjunction with the Netgear Nighthawk MR62 bundle. I wanted to mount the RAX120 upside down under the desk like the other XR500 was, this is not possible, the wings fall. Also tried to mount it vertically on a wall but the wings still sag. They should have clearly stated needs to sit flat on a shelf or desk. Immediately after setting it up and configuring it on a test run, the speed in the room was comparable but not better than the XR500. However, the noticeable difference in this 3000 sqft house was that several rooms on the bottom floor had no connection. I was very surprised since the XR500 only has 4 antennas and I could at least get 2 wifi bars. This was concerning, so I tried several devices and compared them against the other router, same result. I returned this device and can not recommend it for the price point. The XR500 is a few years old, half the price, and outperforms the RAX120 by a lot. I was really hoping this unit would live up to the hype since it featured LAG,

Posted .Hi titanhusker,
Wireless routers, access points, and adapters send and receive radio wave signals through antennas. To optimize your wireless range, we suggest checking this resource: https://kb.netgear.com/1114/Improving-wireless-range-Overview

Great product
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn’t really want to spend $500 on a router but once I brought It home I have been very happy with it and have not had any issues. The setup is very easy and the ease of turning of specific devices(when the kids won’t listen or go to bed) is easy. This was a great upgrade and would recommend this to anybody that needs a new router. Don’t let the price stop you, it’s worth it!
